A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Oxfordduplicate, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be blatant advertising which only promotes or publicises a company, product, group or service. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. 331dot (talk) 12:48, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because it is highlighting the importance of historical digitisation from a company that is recognised as a leader in the industry. And to point out Snappy Snaps promote their selves and are being used as a guide for this publication.

Please see Other stuff exists. Other similar pages existing does not mean this one can too. If you have evidence that a company representative of "Snappy Snaps" has created and/or is editing the page, please offer it. Not every business merits a page here, even within the same field. There are several issues here, but the biggest issue right now is that you have created this page on your user page, which is not article space(note the "User:" in the title). If you intended to draft or create an article, you should do so at Articles for Creation as you have a conflict of interest. Please review that policy and the Paid editing policy, which is required by Wikipedia's Terms of Use if you are editing as part of your job. Your username cannot be that of your business(or a close variation) per the username policy and has already been reported. If you acknowledge this message, I will remove the report so you can change your username on your own by following the instructions at WP:CHU. 331dot (talk) 12:59, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

February 2018[edit]

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Yunshui  13:07, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome![edit]

Hello, Oxfordduplicate, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your recent contributions seem to be advertising or for promotional purposes. Wikipedia does not allow advertising. For more information on this, please see:

If you still have questions, there is a new contributors' help page, or you can click here to ask a question on your talk page. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia:

I hope you enjoy editing Wikipedia! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! AndyAndyAndyAlbert (talk) 13:33, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

new to this and trying to understand without upsetting wiki. Apologies

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that
  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.
Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 14:30, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please review my post above. I would expand on it by saying that in order for someone like you with a conflict of interest to write about your business, you would need to forget everything you know about it and only write based on what independent reliable sources say about it. Wikipedia has no interest in what a business wishes to say about itself, or how it wants to be portrayed. Your attempts at writing an article seem to have only been sourced from your company's website, that is not acceptable, it must be written about by third parties. If it is not written about by third parties, it will not be possible for their to be an article about it at this time. Please understand that as an encyclopedia, Wikipedia is not meant as a place for businesses to write about themselves merely to tell the world about themselves, it is meant as a place to summarize what third parties state about article subjects such as businesses.

I am not an administrator, but I have observed that people in your situation are unlikely to be unblocked unless they agree to not edit about their business. 331dot (talk) 13:45, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
