Mike, if you're going to PROD something because you don't think it's notable, I suggest adding a discussion (or at least a note) in the relevant talk page, especially if you've been denied a Speedy Delete on the subject previously. Speedy Deletion Inappropriate 3

Okay. First of all, you're going to show me some proof that the articles spurred some kind of libel lawsuit. If that claim has any merit, the articles would no longer be on the Internet for all to see. I doubt MSNBC takes libel that lightly. Secondly, I don't think your narrow idea of notability entitles you the power to speedy delete whatever you want out of hand.

In a brief perusal of your talk page, I noticed many have commented on what they feel to be your arrogance and condescension with regards to this website. I also noticed that many have complained that you are quick on the trigger when it comes to the speedy delete function and that your judgements have been overturned in the past. You have already scrambled to decry my article's notability when your 'attack page' argument couldn't hold water. All this leads me to believe you should restore my article and allow a debate to take place on whether it can continue to exist rather than force me to go the deletion review route.

Speedy Deletion of THEINFOVAULT

There are numerous pages on wiki that give details about websites that are similar to THEINFOVAULT........ Government News Network, The Great News Network, signs of the times (News Website), Guerrilla News Network, etc....

What can I do to make my contribution fit the requirements? I have read the terms and conditions and I do not believe that I am violating them. I don't believe this to be "advertising" - as the website I am trying to write about is entirely non-profit and sells nothing. It is an information resource website. Just to clarify - I'm citing from poems that have been out of print for more than 40 years. I realise that this probably means they are still in copyright, but the fact that they are important to an understanding of her work and unavailable warrants to my mind their inclusion in Vimala Devi's entry.

Question about deletion of "Kambri Crews" page

Dear Orangemike,

Hi. I just learned that the article I'd created about Kambri Crews was deleted.

I honestly believe Crews deserves a Wiki entry. She's a major figure in the New York comedy community, and also in the deaf commmunity as a storyteller.

The article I constructed is obviously deficient, or you wouldn't have cut it. I'm new to this and don't yet fully understand what needs to be done to make a Wiki entry acceptable.

But I want you to know that the underlying substance is there. Crews is a genuinely notable figure who touches the lives of thousands of creative people in NYC via her comedy activities, and the deaf community via her blog.

I obviously don't yet know how to construct an article in the style you need -- but I'd love to so. So I'm writing to ask if you'd be kind enough to give me specific guidance by telling me what in the article is okay, what isn't, and what I'd need to do to fix the article and make it a good entry.

I apologize if these are overly ignorant questions. It could be I'm too close to the article to see it objectively. But I was genuinely surprised to see it removed; so I'd really value your perspective, and your advice.

Greetings! I wondering why the Universal Health Care Foundation of Connecticut entry was deleted. The entry appeared factual, non-advertising, non-promotional, and heavily sourced. This foundation is one of the few foundations in the nation dedicated strictly to achieving universal health care. I find many similar entries for other state-based foundations and nonprofits in Wikipdeia.

Hello Mike - I disagree that Universal Health Care Foundation is not noteworthy. That's because as part of the lawsuit settlement against Anthem Blue Cross, it was given money to specifically work toward universal health care in only one state. I know there are state organizations elsewhere that are similarly limited in their work. Also, I don't think that any of them, as part of a lawsuit settlement, were "ordered" by the court to do this. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think so. Also, I believe it cannot take a position on what kind of universal health care the state should enact. I appreciate the comments about the references and links. I'll try to find others and rewrite it and show how it is notable. I looked at other non-profit pages. I can't see any difference as far as the way they represent a specific issue. Hello Wagner45. I'm not Orangemike, but I looked at the deleted article, and it seems rather promotional and fluffy. The comment that you added above seems (to me) more informative than the entire article that was deleted. Is there a chance that you could offer a more informative article for re-creation? Remember that outside commentary, especially in the press, is more impressive than insider sources regarding the true impact of the organization. Here is a typical sentence from the deleted article: "'The Foundation supports and assists diverse groups to come together to develop ideas..." Sure. EdJohnston (talk) 20:23, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Inglewood Problem

I have just created an article for Inglewood, Virginia. Then, I discovered there are two Inglewoods in that state, in separate counties. Should I separate and make articles: Inglewood, Mecklenburg, Virginia and Inglewood, Rockingham, Virginia? Making a disambig at Inglewood, Virginia wouldn't be helpful as there's a disambig at Inglewood, so it'd be a disambig for a disambig. -WarthogDemon 19:59, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Regarding Youth United

Hi, my article Youth United was deleted this time by stifle. There was no point in deleting the article, as review was going on, and each recommendation was based on earlier deletion criteria. None of them replied after 9 reliable sources were cited. Minimaki replied on my talk page "Same, as I already was watching the DRV discussion.. but since you added additional sources since my last comment, it makes sense, so thanks anyway". I dont't know I am being troubled after doing everything in accordance with wiki policies. 9 sources are not enough to be taken as reliable third party coverage? Let me know what can be done now. notability of Jellyfish.com

Hi, there. I removed the notability tag because it's notable not because of its size but because of its new way of implementing CPA and the pending patent on that, and that Microsoft bought the company only because of that, and for improving Live Search.

It's also midly relevant that it raised $5 million dollars and a $1 million dollars on a short time, which got mentioned on two or three paper bussiness journals from Milkwaukee and Winsconsin. The purchase was mentioned on PcWorld, analyzed on eWeek's Microsot Watch, and mentioned on lots of places.

Launch was mentioned on the online version of Wall Street Journal, too. That and the other sources should satisfy the need for secondary sources on WP:CORP#Primary_criterion .

It's also notable for being the first site using only CPA.

I removed the citations needed because of the sources added.

I also updated Cost_per_action to include Jellfish and mentions to other companies that I found with them.

Thanks. I agree that the company probably isn't notable, but all that's required to defeat a CSD:A7 deletion is a mere claim of notability. This low standard is intended to ensure that only the most clear-cut cases are speedied. There is a claim there (having some famous customers), so a speedy isn't on. To the contrary, WP:EL encourages links to Hulu. Consider:

• What should be linked, #2: An article about a book, a musical score, or some other media should link to a site hosting a copy of the work if none of the "Links normally to be avoided" criteria apply. For the type of media that Hulu hosts (film and television, mostly) Hulu usually is the only place on the internet that lawfully hosts a copy of the work. Yes, it's commercial, but for the same reason, no non-commercial website can host a copy of the work, at least not for another 70 years or so before the copyright runs out.
• Now consider the "Links normally to be avoided" criteria. It passes them all. Hulu provides a unique resource, and will be reliable over the long term. The site is primarily to promote not sell works, has a low level of ads compared to live TV, and doesn't require registration (except for R-rated stuff).

Notable? i did a good theres tons of sources, regardless i just added it , still putting references, not everything on wiki is instantly sourced and added. give it sometime. not everyone is born on wiki knows how to instantly put everything. i hope u understand and i do understand that you instantly check thigns for their notablity. a quick google searched looks very notable.

Help with SciFi writers of color

Help! You were so helpful before. I was hoping that you could help me again. Since it seems that Wikipedia is using "Science fiction" as an umbrella term to include "Speculative fiction". I think that maybe the category "Speculative fiction writers of color" should to be changed to "Science fiction by writers of color" and the category "Speculative fiction novels by writers of color" to "Science fiction by writers of color" ("Walter Mosley's Futureland should be here, but because it is a collection of short stories it is being left out.) OK, fair enough. I've reviewed it now and, without any COI, I personally think it should stay, so that should be the end of it. It seems to me it would help if some kind of edit summary, say "removed as per WP:EL", would help. If I have time, I might go over some of that user's edits and review them to see if the added material is useful in each case, but if I do, it will be a slow decision based on whether each edit improves the individual article. I see what you mean. Looking at the context of that quote over at WP:SPAM it seems to me it sounds more like advice than a hard and fast rule. (And we all know plenty of people around here who are pushing their off-Wiki agendas; almost all of those agendas worse than this one.) Given the circumstances here, it seems to me that if you can get Artand to make some specific pledges about following policy and note that he'll be watched, then the encyclopedia would benefit. Just so you know, there was an arbitration request on episode articles recently here [1], the conclusion says

I do not believe it is relevant as the page was deleted as nonsense (arguably true at the time) but I do not think my last version could be described as such. Well, the template says that you shouldn't, for a start. This way of doing things probably originated at {{db-reason}}, the father template from where {{db-nonsense}} was created from. It probably comes from some discussion on some admin noticeboard, but I can't find references for it.

The removal could also be considered uncivil. A more proper procedure (but still not totally correct) would adding "hangon", then changing the article and *then* removing the tag if there has been substantial changes, while leaving a message on the talk page explaining why it is notable meets the notability criteria or why it's not nonsense, so other editors won't label it again with the same tag. A totally correct procedure would be improving the article, and then convince the editor that put up the tag to remove it, or convince someone else to do it because of it no longer being adequate, but that's not always possible. Deleting the notice with no explanation anywhere not even on the edit summary would surely be considered uncollaborative, specially if the article is not improved.

(also, consider placing {{stub}} on your new articles so this doesn't happen so often. There is a ton of more specific stubs at Category:Stub_categories that you can use. Other people interesed on the stub type can then see the article on the thematic category and help to improve the article) --Enric Naval (talk) 11:45, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Notability

I am so glad our world has come to that. She's a published author (whom can be found internationally through Amazon.com) and she's not known enough because only her "official site" is offered as a reference. I own her book and thought her worthy of recognition and hoped others could learn of her written works through wikipedia. But apparently the site is not worthy of the critical acclaim it has recieved (I have had friends who've attempted to contribute to Wikipedia to help make it better and have been treated with this "warm welcome" ie "speedy deletion." When you work hard to write up an article with reference that sounds half-way decent and even intelligent and it gets deleted because it's not "notable enough" despite local and national popularity it kind of turns the stomach.) I went to a fair amount of effort to get some of my favorite deleted articles restored to my userspace so that I could improve them or find a good home for them. Userfication of deleted content is explicitly permitted -- see Wikipedia:Userfication#Userfication_of_deleted_content -- but you have not only deleted these articles but have done so entirely outside of process and without ever notifying me. I don't really know how to reply to your comment that a lot of the links are about their clients, since that's just blatantly untrue. Many of the articles reference specific projects that DJC has worked on or accomplished, but how do you think a production company gets press except through recognition of their projects? Additionally, even IF you remove those from the equation, there are numerous articles where company employees are interviewed and DJC is the main focus of the piece-- more than enough, again, to meet notability guidelines. You seem to have a prejudice against allowing small companies into the Wiki, but seriously, how much more notable can a small company get than national coverage, numerous awards (including an Emmy) and and cover story in the local alt-weekly? Finally, I'll again reference you to AC Entertainment as an example of another notable local business which has been allowed to stay, even with few references, while mine, with TWO DOZEN good references, is continually deleted.

It's a good article. I don't understand why you have such a need to keep it out. If, after rereading the notability guidelines and my responses, you still feel it's not notable, I wish you would tell me how to start a review or talk to some other admin. I am grateful you volunteer your time here but I think that by being such a stickler, it discourages people from contributing.

There's nothing to stop you from posting the article as it stands. I repeat, I'll give you 3:1 odds that if you do, it won't last a week. We don't care if a company is mentioned in an article; we need articles about the company itself. We have a major problem now with too many articles about tiny companies like this which confuse local "Emmies" with a national Emmy, etc. And again: if you feel AC Entertainment is no more notable than DoubleJay, then nominate them for deletion as non-notable; WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS is not a valid argument for retention of an article. --Orange Mike | Talk 15:51, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

He is put awards like Aegis and Daveys, which look like a place where you pay to get a nice award and a place on a list of winners. They have no notability and no reputation for giving awards based on actual excellence. Center for Contemporary Opera

To answer your comment I do agree that third party sources are best when available. However, I personally feel wikipedia's policy on the need for third party sources all the time is somewhat un-necessary as often times News Organizations use a first party web sites as a source in their own reporting. I know this having written for magazines and newspapers myself and knowing people who work in media. What advantage would a professional organization have in lying about themselves on their own website? Also, in the case of this company all media sources I found were pretty much reviews of individual productions and did not really delve much into the overall history of the company. Furthermore, sometimes third party sources get things wrong. Which would you trust more, the New York Times article or the company's own website if say the New York Times fudged a date or a name? It happens all the time. Most times it is the newspaper that fudged the info and not the other way around. But anyway, I like to play by wikipedia's rules as much as possible which is why I think the tags are there. Hopefully someone else can dig up some better sources. Oh there is tons of media review on productions. Dozens and dozens of reviews done by the New York Times, New York Post, Opera News, etc. That is the thing with opera companies. I re-edited the radio station info. I moved the Radio Station Info from its callsign to its name such as moving the 95.9 Big FM info from DWBG to 95.9 Big FM.

DO NOT move the Radio Station Info from its name to its callsign just like you did to the Radio Stations in General Santos because it is FINAL.

Eamon McEneaney

On March 26, you deleted a page for Eamon McEneaney with the comments: "Real person; doesn't indicate importance/significance: db|Non-notable 9/11 victim." Since this is a page I watch, I am surprised it was deleted without it appearing in my watchlist if/when tagged. Neither is it mentioned in the page creators talk page (User talk:10stone5). McEneaney notability was as a lacrosse player. He was a 9/11 victim, yes, but notable since he was inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame, was awarded prestigeous NCAA lacrosse awards while at Cornell. My recollection was that this was all cited in detail on the page. I am requesting that you re-instate this article. If you think there are issues that need to be addressed, please let me know. Speedy Deletion of Doctor Steel

I do understand as an admin, you wish to keep Wikipedia free of spam/malicious content. However, I do feel the speedy deletion of an article I created, Doctor Steel, was unnecessary. Doctor Steel is a notable person in the music industry. He has been interviewed many times, and has even appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Lenno, and has fans numbering in the tens of thousands. Notability of Rox3n

I am surprised at the "Speedy deletion" tag for the Rox3n article. Going by your userpage, i get a feeling that you have taken a liking for inserting this tag on various pages which might be relevant in certain cases.

However, the use of the tag on the above mentioned article isnt warranted especially after a newspaper has been quoted for notability. Also, the band is an upcoming music group in India & Pakistan & is of significant interest to many users as can be seen by their entries on various wiki pages (especially on pakistani music groups & upcoming talent in music of the subcontinent)

Those protected Philippine radio station articles

You'll have to go to Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Pinoybandwagon for the full ugly story of the mess which this represents. Basically, a COI guy in the Philippines, with one or more each of sockpuppets and meatpuppets, has decided that every Philippine radio station has to have a separate article for each new advertising/brandname it has used throughout its history. He has rewritten the naming conventions for radio stations there; has moved, removed, deleted and redeleted, etc., until the GFDL history is probably a hellish nausea of tangled spaghetti almost impossible to trace. You marked this as advertisement speak AND also that I have a conflict of interest in creating these pages.

• The page shows factual and referenced facts about Kronos as well as a list of products and industries that Kronos does business in. It's not unlike anything that Oracle, Dell or Adobe do. Kronos is a very large corporate software company as well. I don't see any advertisement content here that should be flagged.
• As far as me having a COA, I was asked to create the page for Kronos and I also am employed by Kronos as a web developer. I haven't hid this as even the email I use is @kronos.com. (I've also been a low-volume Wikipedia editor for a while, and I sometimes try to smooth out interactions between the sf community and Wikipedia.) The following is meant in a friendly and cooperative tone, but I'm trying to be brief so I apologize if it ends up sounding brusque.... I was just talking with Nisi Shawl, who was concerned about the wikify and citation-needed templates that you put on the Wikipedia article about her. It looks to me like the article is pretty heavily wikified already, though I can see a few items I can imagine adding links to; and I wasn't clear on what you wanted to see cited--is the issue that the citations are formatted incorrectly (I can fix that), that some of the citations are to her home page, or that there are items that should be cited but that aren't? I tried to drop you a note in email, going into more detail with these questions, but the email address on your home page bounced. So could you either drop me a note in email ([email protected]), or put some comments in the Talk page for the article about Nisi, to clarify the templates? Fedogan & Bremer

Hi - I noticed that you changed the publisher of Frost in the Donald Wandrei article from "F & B Mystery" to Fedogan & Bremer Mystery". I'm going to change it back. F & B Mystery is an imprint of Fedogan & Bremer and I have noted that in the Fedogan & Bremer article which F & B Mystery redirects to. My reason for changing it back is that the title page of the book actually only uses the initials. In fact the only way the publisher is listed on the title page with their logo. The Chalker/Owings reference doesn't make a distinction for Frost and it is listed in the Fedogan & Bremer section, however they do explain the imprint and list it as "F & B Mystery" in their entry on The Last Pin. The Locus index [2] lists the publisher as "Fedogan & Bremer/F&B Mystery". In any case, it looks like it's just F&B when referring to the imprint, which is why I'm changing it back. Brand names such as "Net 25", "UNTV" or "99.5 Campus FM" are very often unique. Even though "Campus Radio Baguio" or "Wild FM Davao" are not appropriate article titles, a brand name may, however, be created as Radio Station and its Dial (Ex. 92.7 "Campus Radio" or "Dream 106.7") page where appropriate.

No, he is not my client. I am a 43 year old mother of 2 in San Francisco and I have no connection at all. My 16 year old son lives in Nashville and heard about this kid Simon Bruce. I contacted the girl who made his webpage and asked since she wrote the bio could she make the wikipage page account and upload it because she had all the copywrites and of course I wanted to comply (i have had my own account for 3 years). It was shut down the minute she put it up and I have been on here trying to comply with all the requests to make the page right. I have no conflict of interest, I was just trying to get the sources of the copywrites to upload it themselves.

I had thought it would be better for them to do it than for me to do it. Would it be better for me to make this page under my own established account then, and get many people to request the page?

Is it really a block-worthy offense to blank my own comments? They still show up in the history. The guidelines I see laid out on Wikipedia:Talk#Own_comments endorse blanking, and they refer to respect for people who have replied as the sole reason this practice is to be avoided. Slovenia

I agree some of them were a little over ambitious as yes the template was translated from slovenian wiki (and now greatly reduced), but the lists serve a great purpose in that they are intended to serve as a platform to generate new articles on and highlight what is missing. If you want to move them to the WikProject Europe/Slovenia project space I have no problems, but there's no reason why we couldn't have developed lists within sensibility for other countries too. As for notability several SLovenian editors have ever stricter rules for notability than I have -please see the List of Slovenian architects which was whittled down to the most notable etc by a SLovenian editor on here who is rather better equipped to make judgements on what is notable than you or I are and doesn't display exaggerated patriotism as is depicted. please assume good faith here that we are trying to build an encyclopedia with notable content which will greatly improve the site eventually. As for myself the creator of this template exerting Slovene patriotism, I am about as un-Slovene as you can get. No I am not Patricia Gras nor do I work for her. I attend the University of Houston and was able to meet her through the Communication department. I found her to be a very accomplished and interesting journalist and wanted to add her to Wikipedia that is when I noticed she previously had a page and that's when I made the effort to have it reinstated and am now trying to correct all the mistakes someone previously made. I resent your assertion that my account is "single ____ (whatever your called it). My Wikipedia login dates from 2006. I visit many websites on various topics, but seldom contribute. Michelle Malkin's extremely popular site has been the target of vandalism, so she has established a group of pre-registered contributors, and I haven't pursued joining that group. Far too much of my time is spent on the Internet already. But, the Absolut reconquista ad was so galling, and so wrong-headed, that when I found the topic on Wikipedia, there was the motivation to get involved. On another note, now that this experience is under my belt, maybe I'll pursue correcting the error noted long ago, in the Wiki article about the Telesis Tower building in San Francisco. I think I did the right thing in retagging it as a speedy, even with the AfD ongoing. The author was told what to fix, where we had issues, yet continued on his merry way without acknowledging most of them. Maybe I bit, but when a brand new editor says he needs to bring in his attorneys to edit the article, something doesn't sit right. Speedy Deletion of goSupermodel

My article about the international community website goSupermodel was speedy deleted within 12 hours. I may not have included enough secondary sources to prove its notability, but I still think that a user base of over 4,000,000 registered users worldwide in 11 countries made it noteworthy (compared to other sites listed on List of social networking websites).

Should I re-add it at a later time with more sources? - I really find it notable, especially for young girls!

regarding your speedy delete of Fred Toucher

I'm not going to disagree with your decision to delete the article, as there was a lack of qualifying information therein (at least, in the last version of the article that I saw). However, I do question the reasoning behind the "speedy delete" of the piece, considering Fred was mentioned in today's NYPost's Page 6 column. Perhaps a normal deletion proposal would have allowed such notoriety/significance to be added to the article. Other items of note that he has been involved with include the recent "Iron My Shirt" psuedo-protest at Hillary Clinton's Boston stop that made world-wide news, and an on-again, off-again public feud with director Kevin Smith. Thank you, but I want to be clear that my comment was not regarding your decision to complete the deletion process based on the information that was present in the article, but that the article should not have been speedy-deleted; that is, it should have had the opportunity to go through the standard review process and let those editors who were interested do their job to add the appropriate information to the piece to give it a chance not to be deleted. If you look at the edit history of who proposed the speedy, they went through and marked a ton of radio-related articles with the speedy tag almost without care, as opposed to having the articles on subjects that have appeared on CNN (as an example) go through the normal deletion review. I appreciate that you took a moment to follow-up with what I posted above, but we both know that just because something didn't appear on your radar or appears to be 15-minutes of fame from your vantage point doesn't mean that it wasn't more significant or notable in other parts of the world. Anyway, thank you again for your reply and taking the time to consider that perhaps "speedy" wasn't the best deletion proposal for all those that were tagged that day. The point is, the skyrockets article went down because there was not enough "verifiable evidence". Should I buy you a copy of the movie? What do need to do to get this article back up online? I don't understand when it went down in the first place as the warning clearly said we have a year to sort it out and I've been asking for your input every time I add a piece of info. In any case the band was in a Youseff Chahine movie that is verifiable evidence. Please advise me as to how I can convince you that they existed? Except for the signed contracts, the advertisements and the live recording? The movie is called Cairo Station.

Re: Persistent misunderstanding Mike, your last post was the first to mention anything about notability. The concern for deletion was verification and third party references.

Historically they are the first rock and roll band in Egypt (I can't find any other earlier on record). they paved the way for other acts like the Bell Boys and Le Petite Chat. The were registered between 1957-1962 (officially) while former band members kept the name and played internationally until roughly 1968 but thats largely undocumented. The period between 1957-1962 however is!

Speedy Deletion question

Hi Mike! This morning I wrote an article about a nationally recognized and very large professional organization, AASECT. I only put in facts and quotes from their mission statemtent (quoted and credited to them, of course), but it was flagged for speedy deletion for "advertising". After rereading it, I added a couple more quotation marks to make it clear that I wasn't using language to promote the organization in any way, just that the questionable language (according to another user) was directly from their mission statement. I used the pages from other professional organizations as a guideline, and I'm still not seeing the issue. It wasn't the longest or most complete article, so I marked it as a stub. Can you tell me what was objectionable about the article? I don't really want to take the time to write other articles if their just going to get deleted.

Ok, I can see that adding more from other sources might be appropriate, but including an organization's mission statement wouldn't be? Is it just that I should be adding more to the page so that there are other citations/references? This was one of the reasons that I put that the article was a stub, but if it's nonexistant it's somewhat difficult to add to later (I guess I'm unsure of the point of stub articles then?) Is there some way of saving pages that you're working on so that you can finish them later instead? Sorry, I'm new here an many things about wiki seem a bit clunky (like this way of communicating rather than a messaging system). I'm not trying to advertise, certainly, but it seems very odd to not have a page for the certifying organization for sex educators, sex counselors, and sex therapists...I was using the American Library Association as a guideline since they are the certifying organization for librarians and almost all of the citations on that page are also from the ALA itself. I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I don't see how using someone else's version of an organizations mission statement is ok rather than using the actual wording in the bylaws because that's considered "advertising"? As for the grammatical edit, The Chicago Manual of Style notes that, while the original form may be technically correct, if it is offensive to the reader's eye the form should be altered if an equivalent form is more pleasing. just to make sure i am understanding the process correctly and you seem like the guy who would know... i added a comment to the FIREFLY page that the basic premise of the evacuation of earth and human refugees is also used in the joss whedon/ben edlund-written TITAN AE. i wouldn't have included this had the same creative team not been involved (say, the premise was used in another movie or book twenty years ago). i believe this is intersting information the same way larry cohen wrote both CELLULAR and PHONE BOOTH or michael crichton wrote JURASSIC PARK and WESTWORLD, both works that use the same premise in different ways.

please explain what qualifies as a valid source? can any monkey make a website that references the same information and i can use that regardless of their credentials? that seems somewhat shoddy. i am referencing events explained in the synopsis of both wikipedia pages and explained in the first five minutes of both films, not trying to draw and conclusions.

i trust you assume some responsibility for this page and you'll do what's correct but i would like to know how these matters are dealt with for future reference.

I made a page on one of my favourite authors, who has written a substantial amount of books and is in the process of making one of them into a movie. You deleted my first ever article, on which I spent ages writing, proof reading, adding referances and checking the guidelines for, and then I posted it, pleased with myself. I know Mr Lewis but I only spoke breifly about his family and personal life. Lots of authors pages are available on wikipedia, and I enclose a link to kevin lewis' site - http://www.kevinlewisonline.com/ and google - www.google.com , which incase you try to delete that, is a search engine for you to look up Kevin Lewis on. I now have to rewrite the unsaved document and find all the information again, unless you'd care to do it for me. I'm very upset and confused, and a reply would be nice. American Drug War: The Last White Hope won first place in four consecutive film festivals and was picked up by Showtime to air for the next two years. It's also currently airing on Australia's Foxtel channel. Esai Morales brought up the film on HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher and his comments were the focus of a segment on Bill O'Reilly's Fox News show. All of this except for the festibal awards has happened in the last month or so. The film features interviews with numerous prominent individuals and is being privately shown in theaters by activist groups around the country. Excuse me

I recreated the page on color blind racism, but I am not the original user who made the page. I got rid of the deletion tag saying that I would have the page completed by next thursday. I understand that the previous page for color blind racism was a pos, but I don't plan on making empty promises for 4 months or whatever that guy did. You could at least give me until next friday to delete my page. Especially since the deletion tag said that if I provide a rebuttal to the deletion proposal, the tag would not be reassigned.

I noticed the message you recently left to a newcomer. Please remember to try not to bite the newcomers. If you see someone make a common mistake, try to politely point out what they did wrong and how to correct it. Thank you.

Once again, another newbie appears on wikipedia, creates an article and you slap them straight in the face with a "speedy delete". What sort of impression do you think this creates? We're supposed to be creating something here, not seeking better and faster reasons to delete it! They're not good articles, so why not suggest how they might be improved? They're certainly not "problem" articles where it's important to kill them as fast as possible. At least give them the grace of an AfD and consensus discussion (remember those?) with sufficient time for the relevant community or project to have some discussion as to whether they're notable topics. Subjects have notability, not articles. The quality of an article is no reason to delete it for non-notability - we can always work to improve them instead. Indecent haste to delete by admins hanging on the new creations list is contrary to the whole community ethos.

As to notability, then two of these articles have a claim to notability on the basis of the engine being preserved today, a rarity, thus of at least some concrete notability. We don't have so many surviving and working steam engines that we've a surplus.

Cornwall though is another matter. She was a famous engine in her day, she was so famous when obsolete that she became an extremely rare early preservation, even at a time when we were over-run with engines. If for no other reason, she'd still be notable today even if she'd gone to the scrapper in the '60s. Once again, you're too quick to dive in and speedy an article because you have no idea of its value, and acting in a way that reduces anyone else's opportunity to become involved. I am going to raise this at a hiogher level, probably on the Admins review page. The reason given for the speedy deletion was that is did not meet the minimum standards for a Stub. Having looked at the article, I feel this needs to be challenged, as the article was a lot longer than just a few sentences, and it had numerous references. I think this needs closer scruntiny by other admins to determine if the editor that placed the tag can justify his reasons, as I think they are unsound. The issue of notability is a possible justification, but not meeting the requirements for a stub is not. Olana North (talk) 07:34, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

I see that for this one you not only tagged it for speedy deletion, but you went ahead and deleted it anyway.

The editor who tagged that one for deletion was not I, but rather User:I feel like a tourist. As to context: it was only after examining several other articles created by this editor that I finally deduced that the GWR 4900 was a locomotive. On that US-centric basis, am I justified in deleting all the baseball articles, because they make no sense to me? The article has a good name within the naming conventions of its context. "GWR" and "Hall" are an immediate indication as to just what it is by anyone remotely familiar with the area. What's wrong with labelling it as "uncategorized", something that's a positive indication as to the sort of improvements it needs. Once again, don't make claims of lack of subject notability, based on the fluid status of an article's content. Content can be improved - that's what we're here to do. You've deleted my article on XtremeData. Did you read what I wrote in its discussion page? I've provided justification why it's notable, and A7 rule you site says that "important or significant" standard is lower than "notability". Yes on all counts (do a search for "XtremeData" in Google News). Since most articles are of the type "how great this product is", I thought that from the neutrality perspective it would be best to include that on the discussion page rather than the article itself. About your requirement that the article is written by someone without a COI, it's not supported by Wikipedia:COI. Edits by editors with COI while discouraged, are allowed. I've read the requirements, and believe that the article was proper. • Well. I realized, coming down the stairs this morning, that i'd set a trap for you: when i undeleted the page, i should have had the presence of mind to remove the bogus tag immediately. (I'd like to think that that would have occurred to me a lot earlier, had i not been absorbed in composing a (still unfinished) explanation for the first admin who did what you did. And then, of course, further distracted.)

I also failed to visualize your situation accurately: it matters so seldom, that i forget the edit-history page's spec'n lapse, in so thoroly deprecating the significance of the page's log entries -- which probably should be, as default, interleaved with the edit entries, if only for convenience and clarity. In retrospect, i realize i was being pretty cryptic in treating it as obvious that you'd seen the deln log of the page.

At the moment, i have to gather my climbing gear and keep a gym commitment to my love and a few other refugees from the rain. But i'll offer up the deconfusion i've been promising, probably in the next 12.

Yahoo! Fantasy Sports

You're an admin, perhaps you can help. You were in the first AfD discussion of this page. You said the page needed drastic cleanup to remain a page on Wiki. Over the last 4 months nothing has been done to fix it. User:RoyalBroil wanted it to stay, but admitted in the first discussion there was not enough material to fix the page to have it stand alone without it looking like an advertisement which it does right now. Now a lot of people think it should stay simply because its notable. But I think someone should act on that merger tag. Its been sitting there for months and nothing has been done. I think the lead should be moved to a section under Yahoo! Sports, and the remainder of the article should be deleted as it is a clear violation of Wiki policy. WP:NOT /Sales Catalog.
