Congratulations! Thank you for finding the explanation you gave for Rossini, - you may consider to bring it up also also for Bizet, unless you want to be bold and go further and discuss the matter on WP:COMPOSERS in general. I can't, remembering the last time I tried - after Boulez died. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:28, 3 October 2023 (UTC)

Eek, I'm hesitant to propose this again after the backlash at Rossini... I fully understand the point Nikki is making and appreciate the thorough explanations and interpretations of the MoS, yet I find myself disagreeing with the fundamental guidelines upon which this encyclopedia is based. I hope the discussion at "Redirection to another article in an infobox" helps. Once Rossini works itself out, I may open a discussion on the topic of infoboxes at WP:COMPOSERS, but I don't know how I'd approach it. Just a new subheader? That would attract no traffic, and nothing can be done from a simple discussion. An RfC? That seems a bit extreme for changing a small policy, but may be necessary after the intense debate that's taken place since the project's inception. Your thoughts? Ping for @Gerda Arendt MyCatIsAChonk (talk) (not me) (also not me) (still no) 00:22, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
I understand. The arbs asked 10 years ago (#7, and don't miss #6), and I thought Mozart served the purpose. Obviously not. Have you seen Cosima Wagner? You better stay out of all that and do Stravinsky ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:09, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
Only now did I look at the linking talk. "For those who may be unaware, WikiProject Composers has an age-old policy that disallows infoboxes in composer biographies, but this has been changed in recent years." Sorry, that's wrong ;) - it's not a policy, it's a 2010 guideline, and some question if project guidelines have any binding "force". It has never been changed, just ignored. By the community. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:23, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
I did not know this, thank you for letting me know! I'll fix it pronto MyCatIsAChonk (talk) (not me) (also not me) (still no) 11:05, 4 October 2023 (UTC)

Comments on FA nomination

Hello MyCatIsAChonk, I wanted to let you know that I nominated the article Communication for featured article status, see Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Communication/archive1. So far, there has not been much response from reviewers. I was wondering whether you are inclined to have a look at it due to your interest in media. If you have the time, I would appreciate your comments. Phlsph7 (talk) 08:01, 13 October 2023 (UTC)

Certainly! I've been quite impressed by your revisions of vital articles. I'll review soon, probably tomorrow or the day after. MyCatIsAChonk (talk) (not me) (also not me) (still no) 11:09, 13 October 2023 (UTC)

DYK for Appalachian Spring

On 25 October 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Appalachian Spring, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the early drafts of Appalachian Spring contained a Native American girl to act as an invisible theatrical device, but it was cut in the final production? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Appalachian Spring. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Appalachian Spring), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

October songs
my story today

More congratulations! - I am not so happy about the DYK about Appalachian Spring, that doesn't even say it's a ballet (which we really can't expect readers to know already), and mentions "Indian girl", - would we still say so in 2023? - Good luck with the FAC! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:59, 17 October 2023 (UTC)

I hadn't considered that, and it's been weeks since I nominated it so I haven't given it much attention... I'll post a message expressing concerns, as I do agree that there's an issue with "Indian girl" and even just the notability of the fact. MyCatIsAChonk (talk) (not me) (also not me) (still no) 20:11, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
Thank you! - You may have seen that I talked to the user who promoted first, but that name was new to me, and they possibly don't look often. I think normally the reviewer should notice, but Corachow comes from ballet, and it's a given that it's a ballet. I try to say in my hooks something specific to the subject, therefore would not point at something that did not make it in the end, but styles differ, and I accept that as well. My story today is derived from a real DYK that landed on the subject's birthday, mentioned three roles I saw him in, and even had some quirkyness ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:47, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for the advice! After a year I'm still learning, and all help is much appreciated MyCatIsAChonk (talk) (not me) (also not me) (still no) 21:50, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
It's no good advice because it brings you in conflict with the DYK team: they seem to prefer April fool's approach all year round. I am still sad that we couldn't say anything better about Berit Lindholm, and that's just one of several where I thought better no DYK than that. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:24, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
Well, here's to hoping that more like Robert Hale can come to fruition MyCatIsAChonk (talk) (not me) (also not me) (still no) 22:41, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
Thank you. - Firebird, you gave me credit I don't deserve, I didn't make it to that peer review, and hope nobody has seen it, and you quietly erase it. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:45, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
Whoops, I must've been thinking of the Appalachian Spring FAC... thanks for letting me know! MyCatIsAChonk (talk) (not me) (also not me) (still no) 18:43, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
fine fix, fine response to my initial comments! - today, it's a place that inspired me, musings if you have time. My corner for memory and music has today a juxtaposition of what our local church choirs offer. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:10, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
just to let you know that I'll be busy over the weekend --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:02, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
... and how nice to return to a new FA of yours! - latest music on my talk --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:01, 22 October 2023 (UTC)
Thanks again for the review, I'm quite excited to finally get a composition to FA MyCatIsAChonk (talk) (not me) (also not me) (still no) 19:02, 22 October 2023 (UTC)
A Romanian woman composer is today's topic. - I'll resume the review of your next composition after this round. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:15, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
I thought of Brian Bouldton today, and his ways to compromise. - I'm on vacation again, more pics to come, but too tired after church (pictured on my talk), hiking and paella. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:56, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
There is certainly no need for a reason, we all have lives outside this website, and it seems like you're having a lovely one. I admire the many concerts you attend, and remember WP:THEREISNODEADLINE! MyCatIsAChonk (talk) (not me) (also not me) (still no) 22:55, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
