List of The Stand characters

Thanks for saving the List of The Stand characters, you've made some of the novel's fans very happy. Anyway, you celebrate Chinese New Year? Then, it's Happy Chinese New Year to you in the next few days, as it going to be the first day of spring, according to Chinese calender.--NeoBatfreak (talk) 05:36, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

It was really the people who participated in the AfD who saved the article, but I'm glad to hear I've made somebody happy. I don't usually celebrate Chinese New Year, but maybe I'll make an effort this year. Cheers.--Kubigula (talk) 16:26, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
The Chinese New Year is on January 22. Even if you don't celebrate it, I suggest that you go to Chinatown anyway, because of entertainments like dancing dragons and great foods.--NeoBatfreak (talk) 00:30, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the tip. Dancing dragons and great foods sounds pretty good to me.--Kubigula (talk) 05:14, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Update: new user warning test results available

Hi WP:UWTEST member, we wanted to share a quick update on the status of the project. Here's the skinny:

  1. We're happy to say we have a new round of testing results available! Since there are tests on several Wikipedias, we're collecting all results at the project page on Meta. We've also now got some help from Wikimedia Foundation data analyst Ryan Faulkner, and should have more test results in the coming weeks.
  2. Last but not least, check out the four tests currently running at the documentation page.

Thanks for your interest, and don't hesitate to drop by the talk page if you have a suggestion or question. Maryana (WMF) (talk) 19:17, 20 January 2012 (UTC)

Deletion Query

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Laura_Warshauer

Laura Warshauer is absolutely notable in her own right:

1. In 2010 Laura was chosen by BMI and the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame to be the recipient of the first ever (Buddy) Holly Prize. The prestigious award is presented to one young singer-songwriter and performer per year who exhibits “true, great, and original” qualities. 2. That year, Laura was also invited by BMI to perform at the Martha’s Vineyard Songwriter’s Festival alongside a select group of songwriters, including Keith Stegall, Tom Douglas, Even Stevens, and Thom Schuyler. Regarding her performance, Keith Stegall commented, “[She] can stop time!” 3. Several iconic musicians make appearances on The Pink Chariot Mixtape, including E Street Band keyboardist Roy Bittan, John Fogerty’s drummer Kenny Aronoff, and Hall and Oats guitarist Paul Pesco. Rob Whited and Bobby Lee Parker, touring percussionist/drum tech and side-stage guitar player/guitar tech for The Killers, contributed drums and guitars to the album as well. 4. Three of the album’s ten tracks were produced by legendary producer and record executive Thom Panunzio (Bruce Springsteen, Nelly Furtado, and U2). One of these recordings, “Tonight Tonight,” was licensed to the Style Network’s “How Do I Look.” Other song placements include “Fade Away,” which was used on USA Network’s “In Plain Sight,” and “To Will and Kate, Meet Me at Exit 109,” which was used on “E! True Hollywood Story: Kate and Pippa Middleton,” which also featured both a powerful live performance and interview with Laura. 5. “To Will And Kate, Meet Me at Exit 109,” garnered much success. The song received press coverage in major outlets such as People Magazine (a two-page spread), Gothamist, Daily Mail (UK), Paris Match (France), AOL Music, and on News 12 New Jersey (1.8 million viewers), where Laura also gave a stirring live performance. The song, inspired by her friendship with the royal couple during her time as a freshman at the University of St. Andrews, debuted on People.com and is currently available as a digital download on iTunes. 6. In July 2011, “Wishing Well,” the first single from The Pink Chariot Mixtape was serviced to Triple A Radio throughout the US. To support the single, Laura took to the road for special performance dates at Hotel Café in Hollywood, California, Lestat’s in San Diego, California, and the FMQB Triple A Radio Conference in Boulder, Colorado. “Wishing Well” climbed the MediaBase charts for twelve straight weeks. 7. Earlier last year, Laura began an open-ended residency at The Palms Las Vegas opening for Sony/Signature artist Frankie Moreno. Other performances in 2011 include an appearance at Palace Station as part of the Gibson Artist Showcase, a headlining performance at the Official MPressFest CMJ Showcase at Rockwood Music Hall in New York City, opening performance dates with Bob Schneider at WXPN’s World Café, Ram’s Head (Annapolis, MD), and the Stanhope (New Jersey), a performance with Scars on 45 on 92ZEW The Sound of Mobile’s Free Concert Series, and a special performance at the concert celebration for the Songmasters’ “Tis The Season To Be Holly,” which premiered on PBS on December 3, 2011. 8. Laura recently spent time recording multiple songs in Nashville with producer Marshall Altman (Matt Nathanson, Natasha Bedingfield, Marc Broussard, etc.). Her forthcoming album, tentatively titled “Wicked Wicked,” is slated for a Spring 2012 release. There are additional tracks in the works being produced by Bleu McCauley (Demi Lovato). 9. After releasing an album independently, Laura was subsequently discovered by legendary record executive L.A. Reid. In 2008, she released her debut EP via Island Def Jam. She has created her own label “PINK CHARIOT,” which she released her 2011 critically acclaimed Pink Chariot Mixtape album and her 2012 forthcoming release. 10. Michael Lynn, producer of E! True Hollywood Story, filmed exclusive interviews and content from The Pink Chariot Mixtape recording sessions. 11. In 2010 Laura was asked by her hometown radio station WBJB to be involved with The Runaways / Sandy West tribute album. Laura’s cover of “Little Lost Girls” was produced by the legendary Thom Pranunzio, and features musicians who work and tour with The Killers. All proceeds from the sale of the album went to the Sandy West Cancer Foundation. 12. Laura is passionately involved with Women Against Abuse, the Philadelphia-based organization that houses abuse victims and their children. Laura has visited and performed at the shelter, and was twice invited to perform “My Fault” at the organization’s annual ipledge press conference at Drexel University alongside keynote speaker Mayor Michael Nutter.

Thinking Cap LMS deleted

Please review the listing of LMS on this page and tell me why Thinking Cap was reviewed and the rest stay. No one in the industry has edited or objected to Thinking Cap being on this list. Great care was given not to make the Thinking Cap LMS page an ad. It just gave basic information and references.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_learning_management_systems

If Thinking Cap should not have a page then why do these others? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Doug canada (talkcontribs) 16:40, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

Thinking Cap LMS was nominated for a discussion as to whether it satisfied the notability guidelines, and the consensus of that discussion was that it did not. I realize that you are disappointed with the result, and I completely understand that. There are many other pages on Wikipedia that have similar issues, likely including some on that list. If they are nominated for a deletion discussion, then they will be evaluated in the same way. You are free to nominate any page you think does not meet the notability guideline, though please don't do it just to make a point.--Kubigula (talk) 03:38, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

You are listed as one of the last editors of the page and I have to correct one part.

"The U.S. Navy acquired 22 modified Block 30 F-16Cs for use as adversary assets for dissimilar air combat training (DACT); four of these were TF-16N two-seaters. These aircraft were delivered in 1987-1988. Fighter Squadron 126 (VF-126) and the Navy Fighter Weapons School (NFWS) (or TOPGUN) operated them at NAS Miramar, California on the West Coast; East Coast adversary training squadrons were Fighter Squadron 43 (VF-43) at NAS Oceana, Virginia and Fighter Squadron 45 (VF-45) at NAS Key West, Florida. Each squadron had five F-16N and one TF-16N, with the exception of TOPGUN which had six and one, respectively. Due to the high stress of constant combat training, the wings of these aircraft began to crack and the Navy announced their retirement in 1994. By 1995, all but one of these aircraft had been sent to the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG) for preservation and storage; one F-16N was sent to the National Museum of Naval Aviation at NAS Pensacola, Florida as a museum article."

This is not correct - one F-16N was sent to San Diego Air and Space, San Diego, CA as a museum article and another to the Pacific Coast Air Museum, Santa Rosa, CA also as a museum article. There is also one that is being used as a gate guard at the Top Gun School (that I cannot verify), but I can the other two. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.14.121.102 (talk) 23:38, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Chesterfield County Public Schools Article Assessment

Thank you for your recent assessment of the Chesterfield County Public Schools article. I knew the article qualified for inclusion in WikiProject Virginia, but was unsure of how to assess it partially due to the accusations of bias, and submitted the article for assessment in order to get a second opinion. --TommyBoy (talk) 21:59, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

Anytime - this is how things are supposed to work in a Wiki. I appreciate the work you've been doing with tagging and assessing.--Kubigula (talk) 04:15, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

New Page Triage engagement strategy released

Hey guys!

I'm dropping you a note because you filled out the New Page Patrol survey, and indicated you'd be interested in being contacted about follow-up work. This is to notify you that we've finally released both the initial documentation about the project and also the engagement strategy, which sets out how we plan to work with the community on this. Please give both a read, and leave any comments or suggestions you have on the talkpage, on my talkpage, or in my inbox - okeyes@wikimedia.org.

It's awesome to finally get to start work on this! :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 02:00, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

Delete my copyrighted picture!

You deleted the page for Jack Brosnahan - thank you VERY much!! Can you also please delete this picture that I own the copyright on?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Jack_Brosnahan_family.jpg

--Truthbetold161 (talk) 15:17, 5 April 2012 (UTC)Truthbetold161

(talk page stalker): You released that picture to Wikipedia under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported license. So, technically, you no longer hold any copyright to that image. Sorry. - NeutralhomerTalk • 16:14, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

I did not release that picture....someone by the name Truthbtold112 did and that picture does NOT belong to them. I am in possession of the actual picture. --107.4.79.58 (talk) 19:44, 5 April 2012 (UTC)TruthBeTold161

If you want to challenge the validity of Truthbtold112's right to release that picture, I suggest you email [email protected]. I'm really in no position to assess the validity of your claim.--Kubigula (talk) 01:40, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
Gotta agree with Kubigula on this one. Especially since the usernames in this case are "TruthBeTold161" and "Truthbtold112". - NeutralhomerTalk • 02:00, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
  • Further to Neutralhomer's post to my talk page, I can confirm that these two editors (Truthbetold161 and Truthbtold112) are unrelated. It is my suspicion that both editors are connected in some way to either the subject or the victims. While I cannot oblige either of you to do so, it would be very considerate to review the edits of Truthbtold112 and remove any other references to John Brosnahan wherever he put them. I'd also suggest that the provenance of the images is in question, and neither of them are of any value to the project or, for that matter, to Commons: they're not of good quality, they're images that relate to non-notable subjects, there may be personality rights attached to them, and they could cause horrible pain to those who were left alive at the end of this very tragic episode. If either of you could bring yourselves to start deletion discussions for both the image that was in the now-deleted article, as well as the one above, it would be a great kindness: you could even consider just starting it and stating you are neutral. If neither of you are willing, perhaps you would be kind enough to let me know, and I'll try to get to it, although my availability is very limited right now. Thanks. Risker (talk) 04:01, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
    • I am just a talk page stalker in this case, so my involvement is extremely limited and to be honest, I haven't a clue who John Brosnahan is. I will do my best to nominate the image for deletion per your recommendation. I will note that and this thread in my nomination. Thanks for looking into the CU for me. Take Care...NeutralhomerTalk • 04:18, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
      • Images have been nominated for deletion. I mentioned your recommendation for deletion in my nomination. Thanks again for your help. Take Care...NeutralhomerTalk • 04:34, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
        • I don't know much more about this than you Homer - all I did was close a fairly clear AFD. However, I think Risker is right that regardless of the copyright issue, these pictures ought to be removed from Wikipedia. So, a big thanks to you for jumping on this and nominating the pics!--Kubigula (talk) 12:51, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
          • No problem. :) Apparently the pics were some family pictures and a couple images of the victim of some sort of murder-suicide in Cambridge, Massachusetts (Boston Globe article about the incident). Apparently, it never hit the news down here in Virginia, cause I never heard of him. Anywho, the pictures were of poor quality and weren't being used on any page, so it was a standard deletion nomination. They will probably wait the standard 7 days and then delete 'em. Glad I could be of assistance. Let me know if I can help in anything else that comes up. Take Care...NeutralhomerTalk • 13:12, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
            • Thanks to both of you for your work here. What a terribly sad situation. Risker (talk) 14:27, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
              • I'm fairly certain that the images are copyright violations from AP and elsewhere, and have so stated at Commons. I had warned Truthbtold112 about copying in copyrighted text; it's reasonable to assume that they thought it was OK to upload images found on the Internet as well. Acroterion (talk) 14:54, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

I need a Response

I realize the above mentioned articles, which according to Alan Liefting, were going to be eliminated, already I discussed with, because newly it began to realize them and already he was saying to myself that they were going to be eliminate you, now you say to me that it should not eliminate them because they are going to block me, please, put in agreement and so to do. I wait for his response--Hernan1483 (talk) 03:09, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for the offered help, lamentably it was creating the articles, but Alan was thinking him that they were Speedy Deletion's subjects, it was not doing two hours that it them had begun to make, try to make clear that it was in the process of creation but was considering anyhow to eliminate them because it was not the place, sincerely I me turn out to be improper, with the hand in the heart, all the users might turn bothered by the creation of these articles of this form, Maronese, Ferro Carril Sud and Once Tigre in the English Wikipedia? Excuse me, but still I am angry, thanks anyway. --Hernan1483 (talk) 03:32, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

I'm sorry you are upset - I totally understand that it's frustrating to have people say you work should be deleted. However, I hope you understand that everyone is trying to make a better encyclopedia.
I also have to say that these articles were probably not going to be speedy deleted before you blanked them. It looks like we have articles on other teams in Torneo Argentino B - for example Boca Río Gallegos etc. I'm definitely not an expert on the subject, so you may want to ask at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football and get some other opinions. If you then decide you want to keep working on the articles, let me know and I can undelete them.--Kubigula (talk) 03:46, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Beefcake (band)

Hi, I was just about to create the page Beefcake (band) and got a message to say that you deleted such a page before. The protocol doesn't contain much information or discussion, just a statement that notability hadn't been demonstrated. But that was four years ago, the band has become better known since then, and Wiki's notability requirements have become more lax. Is it worth re-opening this? --Doric Loon (talk) 09:03, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

I'm not sure I'd agree that the notability requirements have become more lax, but the previous version of the article had very little content and no third party references. Basically it just said that it was a disbanded German electronic music band. If you have some reliable sources and an interest in creating the page, then I'd say to go for it.--Kubigula (talk) 16:05, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
Oh I see, then it was about a different band altogether. The one which is gaining some fame now is from Glasgow, Scotland. In that case we wouldn't be re-creating the same article at all. OK, I'll have another look. Actually it's not me who is interested in this band, but a friend who doesn't normally edit wiki, so I'm trying to motivate her to have a go.
(You know, I know it would kind of defeat the purpose of deleting, but it would be useful if we editors could take a look into delteted articles so we could know that sort of thing. Can admins?) --Doric Loon (talk) 17:44, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
Yeah - that's definitely a completely different band. As for deleted articles, the ability to view them is restricted for a number of reasons. Admins can view (and restore - when appropriate) deleted articles, with the exception of oversighted articles. If you ever want to ask about contents of a deleted article, feel free to ask me - I will help unless there is a policy or privacy concern. If I'm not available, you can ask other admins in this category - Category:Wikipedia administrators who will provide copies of deleted articles.--Kubigula (talk) 20:14, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks. Good to know. --Doric Loon (talk) 13:53, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Kola

Hello
I notice you've changed a number of links from Kola to Kola (town) on pages about Arctic convoys; I've changed these again to Kola Inlet, which is a much better target. Kola town wasn't really a destination for them, as it was too far down the Inlet to be viable. I don't know how many you've done already (I found four on my watchlist); are you planning to do any more? Xyl 54 (talk) 23:44, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

I was repairomg the links to the disambiguation page Kola, as having links to dab pages is undesirable for our readers. As for the Artic convoy articles, if you think the link should be to the inlet, then I certainly defer to your experience and thank you for finding a better link. The four you found were the only ones involving the Arctic convoys and there aren't currently any more relating to Russia. Interestingly, the majority of links for kola actually meant to link to the kola nut.--Kubigula (talk) 03:06, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for your note (and the reply). Looking back, it was probably my sloppy writing that linked to the dab in the first place; so, sorry about that! Anyway, all's well that ends well! Xyl 54 (talk) 13:46, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
No worries - I would bet that every editor here has inadvertantly linked to a dab page at one time or another. It's not a big deal, and it give the gnomes something to do.--Kubigula (talk) 02:35, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

Rather depressing, yes!

Thanks for the comment on my Henry Conway research on the AFD nom. It IS all rather depressing isn't it... Mabalu (talk) 11:12, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Yes - it's funny where the slings and arrows of Wikipedia lead us sometimes. For example, I've spent a fair amount of energy on our article on Nancy Grace, and I'm fairly certain I couldn't stand ten minutes in a room with her.--Kubigula (talk) 03:00, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

Virginia Port Authority Article Assessment

I noticed that you removed the Virginia Port Authority article from the WikiProject Virginia assessment requests list without assessing the article, and I wanted to let you know that I have re-submitted the request since I am unsure of how to assess the article. The article was originally submitted for assessment by User:Vaoverland who has since died according to his UserPage, and I briefly had a second assessment request pending for the article before realizing my error. --TommyBoy (talk) 06:12, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

My mistake - I intended to only remove older requests that had been answered. Thanks for catching that.--Kubigula (talk) 03:24, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

Edit Question

In this edit you reverted stating it may be true but is biased against Monster. Please explain why such material, if properly sourced, wouldn't be appropriate for the page per WP:NPOV? I didn't want to just outright revert you without at least letting you explain your reasoning why... — raekyt 16:48, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

I was going to revert this, since Wikipedia has no onus to protect brands from verifiable events they may find embarrassing. But then I figured it was more appropriate in the article about the company (it's already there) and not a product they make. As for POV, stating Monster had "a lack of a real claim" is inappropriate. Saying there were "a number of lawsuits" before mentioning one is also a bit cheap. Otherwise, looks fine. But like I said, unless a can of the stuff actually files suit, better for the company article. InedibleHulk (talk) 18:15, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
I don't see it on the company page either? — raekyt 18:23, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
It's under Notable Events. No mention of the settlement, though. InedibleHulk (talk) 18:27, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
My comment wasn't so much on the wording of the edit or it's sources, but more on the reason why it was reverted. I suppose it's probably better on the company's page, didn't check if it was there or not. ;-) — raekyt 18:20, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
I imagine the slanted wording was the reason. But yeah, I should let this editor speak for himself. InedibleHulk (talk) 18:26, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
InedibleHulk is correct - it was the slanted wording that I objected too. The edit stated that Monster filed a lawsuit "despite the lack of a real claim", which is a quite inflammatory statement. The edit could certainly have been rewritten to fix the POV, but I don't always feel motivated to spend the time when some just comes in to promote an agenda or personal bias.--Kubigula (talk) 21:29, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I agree to keep the people in mind for sure... what I was questioning is that a master admin helped me with the post and said the source url was fine... however you changed the source. I could care less however, I just wanted to make sure and give the site props that gave the information as they had the story before TMZ even did. Cheers! Grand Island Public schools Edit

I see you edited and reverted my edit as unsourced and biased. I have reverted the article to reflect the current event and linked a source. While I admit to being somewhat new at this I believe the current event ought be reflected. If you feel the way in which it was stated reflects undue bias or something was not done properly, let's open a discussion on the talk page about how best to present the current contraversy. Let's all work to improve the article and not have this turn to an edit war.

Individual Person

Hi,

I was able to see the following message when I attempted to create a page about a person.

10:47, 28 January 2009 Kubigula (talk | contribs) deleted page Kokula Krishna Hari K (A7: No indication that the article may meet guidelines for inclusion)

I hope you were the one to delete this page. In the meantime, am planning to include and modify the contents of this page completely as now he is one of most renowned Scientist in the current era. Let me your suggestion in this. §Asdfindia (talk) 15:01, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

Hi Asdfindia,
The page that was deleted about Kokula Krishna Hari K only had one sentence - all it said was that he was a young entrepreneur. You are free to start a new page, but please keep in mind the notability guidelines. The best way to show that someone is notable is to find articles about them in reliable sources, like magazines, articles or books. Good luck, and let me know if you have any other questions.--Kubigula (talk) 04:19, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
Hi Kubigula,
Thanks a lot for your wishes. I will start creating the same now. - Manikandan —Preceding undated comment added 04:39, 20 November 2012 (UTC)

Anonymous IP pretending to be you

Hi! Just thought I'd let you know that the anonymous user with IP address 67.230.161.179 left a nasty message on my talk page pretending to be you. Yeah, it's the "Biting the Brown" troll. I reverted the addition as vandalism. I'd suggest blocking his IP address, but over the years I've noticed he seems to have access to a lot of different IPs so I'm not sure it'd do any good. George Wythe

I've been trying to reduce the backlog of unassessed articles at Wikipedia:WikiProject Virginia of late, but I'm not sure I trust myself rating anything much above C class. Anyway, George Wythe, which was last assessed as Start-class in 2006, appears to be well beyond that. I would rate it as B class myself, but I'd prefer a more experienced set of eyes look at it first. Would you mind? Rklear (talk) 23:46, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

I agree with your instincts - looks like a B class article to me. My sense is that if you care enough to put some thought into the rating (and ocassionally solicit input), then you are qualified to make the call.

I didn't add personal opinion. I added a link that has links to all the tweets and articles referenced. You're abusing Wikipedia, presumably for personal reasons. Shameful behaviour. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.31.148 (talk) 21:28, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

You are adding personal opinions and failing to adhere to a neutral point of view. I can clearly see that you have some personal distaste for Ms. Penny, and that's a problem - especially when dealing with an article about a living person. Trying to impugn my motives doesn't help your case either.--Kubigula (talk) 03:11, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
