Are things overrated?[edit]

Discuss. InedibleHulk (talk) 08:08, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Back in the day, it was said that "the unexamined life was unworth living". Today, I'm not sure that's so. Even responding to such a question may affect my credit rating. But that's OK... looking at the Moody map, it seems clear that institutionalized investors should throw their money directly into the unmarked (wine-dark) sea. -- SashiRolls 🌿 · 🍥 08:46, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Many, many things - not your edit summaries though. 20WattSphere (talk) 10:38, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Some of them, taken alone, I consider legit A material. On the other hand, one can easily get lost in any 50-long stream of them (potentially triggering insanity) and I think people in aggregate have linked enough of the offensive/problematic/toxic ones to compile a Top Worst 40. On the whole, solid C+. InedibleHulk (talk) 23:15, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Some nights I misuse "proposition" and these are the blights that never end! InedibleHulk (talk) 02:40, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
When the grammar mechanics got to the scene, they didn't seem overly put off by the wreck and asked me if I would like their help sorting it out. They said there was nothing to worry about. Instead of "that for which it is used", they suggested I leave the off-ending sentence out. (For its intended use, they said no refrigeration was needed.) -- SashiRolls 🌿 · 🍥 07:45, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think I "got your drift" there, and if so, considered it "iced". InedibleHulk (talk) 10:28, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. They rarely fail to make me smile. I hope you'll pardon my occasional imitation of your style, which I know often comes off as the humblest of flatulence. (C-) -- SashiRolls 🌿 · 🍥 08:35, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No, but objects are. DrewieStewie (talk) 21:26, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Objection, objectification! Seriously though, overruled. Anything in particular got your goat, sir? InedibleHulk (talk) 16:12, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@DrewieStewie: By the power preposterously vested in me by this 113,000th edit, I beseech thee once more: What, precisely, grindeth thy gears this Monday instant? The way dusty old documents "seem to speak"? If so, I agree, not a fan! But yeah, it's probably something, something...else. Good luck, regardless or irregardless! InedibleHulk (talk) 19:26, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Honored to be your 113,000th edit! Nah, Mondays are just tiring, working overnight then driving to Sac to school to read dead people talking. Heavy, overrated objects that I know a lot about! This degree needs to come already… want to fill out my MA program application? You sound very qualified. It’ll be a great use of the t-ban energy outside of Wikipedia. DrewieStewie (talk) 20:12, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm certified to write a bona fide newspaper article about your quest for higher learning, but that's it. Purely technical vulgarity, nothing truly Latin. My fee would be exorbitant, anyway, since I'd have to be my own editor and publisher. You do you, and I'll continue taking notes abroad, maybe master in something or another later. It doesn't even feel like September in Canada today, and things are "only heating up". Must conserve energy to move forward, or something paradoxical a dead Chinese emperor might say. Keep it cool, California Kid, and the degrees will fall as they will! InedibleHulk (talk) 22:10, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

September 2023[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm GiantSnowman. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Mitchily Waul have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. GiantSnowman 21:06, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't supposed to be constructive, I condensed it. It wasn't vandalism, though. I don't vandalize. InedibleHulk (talk) 21:08, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@GiantSnowman: Cheers on expanding it the right way. A stub lead should summarize the Career, not merely provide the most apparent fact before a subsection lays out the rest. Good to see Crystal Eagles in the body (and the rest). Keep it up, but kindly remember that although you've worked harder on this site over the years, I had three weeks under my belt by the time you were a noob. It's not much seniority, of course, and it doesn't make me your superior. Just roughly equal, maybe, so if you have a problem with something I do in the future, don't invite me to the Teahouse or tell me to "experiment" in a sandbox. Use your words, please. InedibleHulk (talk) 21:55, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Noted, sorry - in the nicest way I had never heard of you and your edit summaries gave off big 'noob' energy... GiantSnowman 10:20, 30 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I know we've interacted elsewhere, possibly a drama board. You're in Archive 6 of this Talk Page, telling me "potato potato" about Jacob Mulee and how your version is better. I still have no idea what "potato potato" means, but I remember you as a rude one. Anyway, if you've forgotten, I can forgive. Peace. InedibleHulk (talk) 18:27, 30 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

You've been here even longer than me, but I never came across you until today. Your name made me laugh. It prompted me to click on your user and talk pages, and I laughed more (not as heartily as the folks pictured, but more than a wry smile). Thanks for that. Well, you're welcome! Thank you for bringing Ventura County Historic Landmarks & Points of Interest to my attention. There's this running joke that probably only I find "funny" in which I spell out ampersands and remark "Ampersands suck". In another classic (but more abstract) bit, I fix MOS:NOBACKREF violations while noting "Implied". The stage seems set for a double whammy, as it were, so I hope you "get" what I'm about to do to "your" article, eh? Feel free to improve Terrible Ted or Creep Catcher, too, if either of them needs it. Inflexible grammar tics aside, though, some of those do look like interesting places! You've given me a lot to YouTube, my intriguingly named new workbuddy. InedibleHulk (talk) 00:33, 30 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

(When I got down to business, it turned out the ampersand in this case is backed by the Ventura County Cultural Heritage Board, and so unequivocally does not suck; thus, simply "Implied".) InedibleHulk (talk) 00:42, 30 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

AN pie in the sky[edit]

Re: Special:Diff/1191146256. I've heard of AN pie in the sky, but it's more common name is a functional administrator's noticeboard with no drama! Thryduulf (talk) 22:01, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like a fine place, in theory. But what would get done without something for the protagonists (and there are many) to overcome? Without the plot, there's no story and everyone goes home. Not a job any mortal should live for, I say. A purely functional AN pieground is an AI pieground, bye and bye. And yes, I do believe I invented that word. So yeah, if you like it, I demand attribution! More to the point, though, you're alright. Good to hear from you again! InedibleHulk (talk) 00:10, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm "getting by" on Javascript disability, so that's "not my problem". What I desperately need right now are snow stamps. They're like food stamps, except absolutely freaking infeasible. Last winter, I didn't mind a little less, thought it was cool. But then almost nothing melted in the spring and we all know what that did last summer (especially to a very small sliver of the Manhattan skyline). At least last "season", there was something somewhat fluffy or sticky or festive on the ground. Nothing but hard mud and dead grass. Y'ever try throwing a wad of cash at a frosty knoll, Jack? Fuhgettaboutit! But the children say we can laugh and play, in a land of make believe and magic hats. Maybe that'll do, Drew. Maybe that'll do! InedibleHulk (talk) 01:49, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For those keeping score at home, the snow is currently winning! Has been for about a week. There's hope yet? InedibleHulk (talk) 03:45, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Tudor Revival architecture[edit]

Hi - not quite sure what you were doing there, and your edit summaries didn't make it any clearer. Have reverted for now. If you make major additions/deletions, can you give edit summaries that allow other editors to understand what you're intending. Thanks. KJP1 (talk) 21:30, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I linked MOS:NOBACKREF in the first one, thought that was clear enough. No need to keep repeating the title. And the "Beginnings" section just kept going, like a standard History section (history naturally including the next two centuries). InedibleHulk (talk) 21:32, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, no, it wasn't clear. Could you try for clearer summaries moving forward. KJP1 (talk) 21:36, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I could say I'll try to work on plainer edit summaries, but I've said it before and trying didn't amount to much. I have stopped "joking" on tragic articles, though, I think. Anyway, a bright blue link saying "It's RIGHT THERE" should be clear enough for anyone in the future, eh? InedibleHulk (talk) 21:39, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Removing an entire section, with an edit summary "Yer history, Stockman!", only to re-instate it 2 minutes later, does not make your intentions clear. KJP1 (talk) 22:10, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that (referring to "stockbroker") and Manny (alluding to "many") were deep cuts and pretty messed up. Sorry. Won't happen again. For the record, though, I didn't "reinstate" it. I moved it, to "History" (and it wasn't a whole two minutes). InedibleHulk (talk) 22:14, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What does it mean when the groundhog DIES?[edit]

Ten years ago ex-Leninist (real affiliation) Democratic Socialist NYC mayor Wilhelm "Bill" de Blasio (real name) klutzily dropped it (his very first groundhog lift). In front of shocked kids (Charlotte took seven days to die). Five years before her grandpa bit the previous mayor (who even then owned a quarter kilometer Manhattan skyscraper, big TV channel and $16,000,000,000.00 US$ – at least double any other USA politician's peak even now even counting before and after office). Since 2015 the groundhog's entire home is lifted to a transparent shield completely by elevator and no one's allowed to hold it. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 19:00, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fred la marmotte died right on time last year. It wasn't a Bloc plot (so far as we know) and no political careers were harmed (again, like we'd know), but the snow tapered off and the forests spontaneously combusted (or so it might seem). Made the big Manhattan TV channel blame Canada for ruining its Diablo ads and then I forget what happened. Anyway, fuck de Blasio for not knowing when to hold 'em! That's pretty much all I'm allowed to say about post-Reagan American politics around here; just be kind to dumb animals, from the penthouse to the outhouse and whatever's zoned between. Happy New Year to you, as well! InedibleHulk (talk) 13:18, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Whoa found dead on 2/2, groundhogs are almost cursed. Yeah happy new year! Don't know if it'll be happy but lots of stuff gonna happen. Warfighting, unusual number of major world elections even for a leap year, total "day to deep twilight in like milliseconds" eclipse in Ontario & my state, solar maximum, Olympiad, Niño, NATO, lunar minimum, Lewis shocks F1, heat records & wildfires (already), first US cricket world cup (in my suburbs), Dodgers became dream team overnight (will their playoff curse end?) and of course maybe the most soap opera-esque POTUS race yet. It's even a big year in Star Trek predictions. The decade in general's so full of stuff maybe we even get zombies with the moonbase, soccer world cup, Olympic flag football, first intercity maglev in the world, late 20s astronomy and NY rail, tower & airport boom. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 01:07, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wiarton Willie (my most trusted name in news) died somewhat close in 2021, too. Curses, indeed. I haven't really been watching the stars (and their friends) lately, but I'll have to remember to stay awake for Operation Deep Twilight! Have seen those Chilean wildfire videos, though, not good at all. Weird time for a president to plummet, too. I wish that great nation well in the World Cup, if it's any consolation. I know Canada doesn't really want it, deep down. Regardless who wins or if the planet lives to tell, thanks again for all the fish. I mean, pipelinks. Railroads, zombies, the whole nine yards. Not sure what it all (quite) means (yet), but I appreciate it far more than I ever could cricket. Cheers! InedibleHulk (talk) 19:19, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Solar eclipse of April 8, 2024 (mid-afternoon). But centerline vs right outside the thin path is like good seats vs listening to a microphone on the upper outside stadium wall from overseas & intentionally avoiding any spoilers that can't be guessed from the microphone. The tree shadows become crescent confetti, if you put a white blanket on sunlit ground you can see shadow bands race in the last moments from the sub-0.001 sunwidth-thin crescent twinkling, if you watch from East Canada peaks you can see the total shadow move at over 1,000 mph, birds literally tweet confusedly then it looks like a black hole for a few minutes, sometimes the white ring is hairy and/or spiky and/or has a giant solar flare and you can see stars and planets (you can see the Sun, Moon & 5 or 6 solar system planets naked eye simultaneously and maybe the other planets with optical aid all in a 66 degree circle, that's very rare), when the Sun comes back some people see pink/red chromosphere for a moment then it's briefly only one Moon valley of Sun peek so the ring of fire becomes the diamond-ring effect, some eclipses reach two diamonds before its too bright to see the ring then put filter back on Baily's beads multiply and merge to a crescent. It's safer to not look at pre-black hole diamond unfiltered to avoid naked eye too soon and eye damage. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 03:06, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Great. I was already feeling like Northern Ontario gets shat on, thanks to the largely unremarkable demise of the awesomely named Victor M. Power, and now another great touring starshow passes me by. Ah well, I hope you and the millions of other lucky ducks are happy. That's the important thing. Big City Lights! Not even sarcastic, y'all earned it. It's your birthright! All the loop-based entertainment on Earth and beyond, every year, continually, for decades. But you know what your good fortune can't buy? Yeah, that's right. A dinosaur! InedibleHulk (talk) 03:44, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Moon's over 2,000 miles wide so it might be dark enough to make the sunlight look dim & tree shadows show crescents where you are, but shadow bands & beads & solar flare arches are in a band a few hundred kilometers wide. The bands start faint like 1 minute before, become intense then black out. That must look cool on Lake Ontario or a frozen pond or Sahara or something. The temperature drop averages 10 Fahrenheit which increases clouds if it's humid enough, enough to go from clear sky to no corona for you if you're really unlucky. We won't get the cool stuff either Appalachia will. NYC has no total solar eclipse between Jan 1925 & 2079 (luckier than the average 360-year gap). In '25 97th Street saw total & 0.1 miles south saw extended diamond/partial from a 3500 km wide-Moon it's that hairsplitting. As for entertainment that's one of the most common reasons for moving here. Why else would you move here if you grew up almost anywhere in North America? Cause they wanted more things to do besides just like high-school football. Movie theaters with up to 25 screens & with many floors, block-sized stores with 10 floors, room-sized 200mph fan grills you pay to be over & fly like a god, the museum with the real 100-foot dino skeletons, chess hustlers, Spiderman beggars upside-down on your subway, a museum for anything even subways, clubs where men dance in cages, a sex museum with a don't hump the buff statues sign cause someone did (mainstream hobbies cause the most moves though, stuff like arts, dining or nightlife). thumb|left|It's no dinosaur but Earth's biggest bank can at least buy this (I don't know if JPMorgan Chase is well-known in Ontario too). Or Chase Manhattan (1955-2000), what it was called before merging with JPMorgan. Which was itself Chase National (1877-1955) plus The Bank of the Manhattan Company (1799-1955) thumb|right|It's the half-built one here, when it's done it'll be 90% the height of the tallest thing here! thumb|right|Another of Earth's biggest banks also made a cool ~thousand foot brick on sticks all the way back in '77. The merger/name history's cute too: Citigroup (1998-2024+) maiden name Citicorp (1976-1998) eventually First National City Bank of New York (1955-1962) maiden name the City Bank of New York (1812-1955) Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 09:40, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I guess we'll just have to wait and see what we see when we see it. If we see it. Whatever "it" is. Did you know a Canadian invented the multiplex? I forget his name, but there's a Heritage Minute about it (it's not one of the better ones, mind you). In political news, one of our councillors is missing. The arts, artists and godly fan grills are definitely up there on The Reasons List, but I'm personally "shocked and appalled" by all these preposterously oversized novelty banks. Even the "regular" office towers can all go jump in Lake Champlain, in my travel opinion. Nobody needs more than seven storeys, especially with today's snazzy advances in underground vaults. That's not to say Toronto doesn't need to settle down in the same way or doesn't have some nice plaster casts of dusty old bones as well, but none of it is worth even a wooly mammoth as far as live animal entertainment goes. If I saw a sign telling me not to hump a public inanimate object, it'd be the only reason I would. So I guess I should just stay home for now. One of these days, though, I think I'll pass through on my way to Philadelphia. That is a route, right? Seems that's what Penn Station is for. InedibleHulk (talk) 22:10, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well I do now. Thank you inventors of Canada! Like McGill University, who desoccerized American football. NYC has so many preposterously oversized banks. Insurance buildings too. FIRE we call it (Finance Insurance Real Estate). Public transit to Philly is plentiful, if you wait 7 years that route might get the first fast non-Japanese intercity maglev. Not just fast but a world record tying 311mph. Or you can use an airport terminal (which are all being razed & rebuilt bigger in better places cause they suck). Or the already world's busiest bus terminal (8,000 buses per day it doesn't even have local buses) which is being razed & rebuilt bigger cause it sucks. Visit late enough & the intercity train station will likely also be razed & rebuilt bigger cause it sucks. They're already hoping to force the NBA/NHL arena owner to move so they can raze both & add floors as they're vertically stacked. I hope to visit Quebec City & Montreal one day. Beautiful architecture, beautiful Frenchwomen, what's not to like? Toronto too. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 07:21, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have seven years, it'll have to be a slow and bumpy ride. Montreal used to have a cozy little Singer factory. And New York used to have the Mrs. William B. Astor House. It doesn't seem to have sucked, at least from here and now, but razed it was and rebuilt it is. Bit more godly now, but in the regular earthly style. My town has never had a synagogue (or mosque), only school buses/light aircraft and precisely five beautiful Frenchwomen. I knew four, knew one well and two too well, if you know what I mean. I hope the Devils never have to play in another damned tower. What good is it to keep your stick on the ice if the ice isn't grounded? The Future is X-Rated, I tell ya. Compare a business card to a trade card; night and day, apples and oranges, beer and wine. C'est la vie! Anyway, since I like you, I've only hidden all these latest two-dimensional underwhelming oversized novelty FIRE stations, rather than the old "you suck" treatment. You're welcome, eh? InedibleHulk (talk) 14:49, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I also thought it's cause Philly's the next big city, and even if you try to Chicagoate Pennsylvanialessly that little bit on the lake gets you). But it's actually like if Air Canada built Detroit Airport 1910, called it Canada Airport, then decades later agreed to let the aboveground become arenas & towers for a 25% stake, 1 free razing & 1 free underground airport station, then went bankrupt mid-construction despite owning 25% & getting a free ride. They didn't name it Amtrak or US Gov't Station so Penn it is (this is also why Grand Central Station isn't central, it's named for a long-dead NY Central RR) I've been on the cheapest one it briefly does 125mph, ride quality's OK, you'll live. There's also one several times the price with less stops that briefly does 150. One cool thing about DC/Philly to NY is if you go Greyhound® there's a point where it reaches 14-lanes & the road stays under the glideslope for awhile then a gentle S then you hug two runways on one side & 80-90 mph trains on the other & you can temporarily beat the big jet taking off in a drag race (obviously not too often, they usually takeoff too soon or from the wrong end). The skyline's so small when it first breaches the horizon, you also watch the land go through 5 stages of grief in 50 miles (farm, exurb, suburb, urb, superurb). First sprawl then an orgy of oil distillation towers, oil tanks, excessive lightbulbs & big fires 24/7 (so if a gas leaks it doesn't do a mini-Hiroshima like Texas 2005). [[:File:Southbound New Jersey Turnpike under Pulaski Skyway.jpg|thumb|left|Pulaski Skyway]] Then Newark Airport, then the other side of that overpass which is an optical illusion – it looks like the bus in right lane will hit (especially before they lowered it) then you gradually realize the guardrail's much taller than usual & it's not that low. Then you enter the inland swamp & pass 100 meter antennas in a line in the saltwater (Sandy probably flooded this part), then hug the Philly tracks & pass that transfer station equivalent of a cloverleaf overpass which is pretty cool. [[:File:Secaucus Junction from I95 jeh.jpg|thumb|right|Secaucus Junction]] Then you turn from I-95 so late it's a 90° bend to align with Manhattan's tunnel. Then finally leave the swamp, go uphill in a trench with a bridge like every block, see skyline again (much nearer this time (1 mile)), drive off a 100-foot natural cliff, turn 360° to a concrete trench to one of 3 car holes (high school football plays at the concrete hole cliff) to where you stop turning which is deep underground. Then you navigate a butthole-thin 2-lane pipe with centerline ski slalom stalagmites that you aren't allowed to cross. The NY city limit is a brick line almost 100 feet below sea level (so if someone crashes in the tube they know which state owns which piece of river) then they sometimes avoid traffic with a ramp that's bus-only from tunnel to gate. You can leave by the massive Times Square subway station that looks like it's part of the basement or by foot or taxi stand or journey to the rooftop parking lot with amazing 360° skyscraper views (especially the 1,046 foot New York Times across the street). I mean, sure, if you don't consider Oneonta a big city, Philadelphia's the next best ticket. That's a lot to keep in mind, though, even before the whole swamp/hill/trench/cave/block/butthole/river complex. Luckily, I haven't even thought about how to begin applying for a passport yet, so I'll have time to read those mighty fine details again (and again). In the meantime, I've taken the liberty™ of outright shitcanning your flatironed Times building facsimile and putting the "the" back into the horizon. I hope you understand, I'm simply too micro for all that macrovision. Superurb?!? Come on. I mean, come on... InedibleHulk (talk) 16:04, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

thumb|left|Part of Brooklynthumb|right|We even have 1 farm in city limits! It's a farm museum.

Suburb & exurb are real words but not urb (city is urbs/urbe/urbi/urbibus etc in Latin cause they grammar hard's). English should add superurban cause there's a big range between barely urban & very urban. Like Inuit snow words the differences seem bigger when you're around it all the time. Enjoy the Superb Owl! thumb|800px|This isn't even all of it, i.e. the nearest skyscrapers are 1 mile away, the deepest are 3 miles behind them that's 4x the distance. On the popular tourist ferry the 476+ foot buildings superimpose 25 miles deep (big gaps in those 25 miles though)

I accidentally found this on Northeast US! Also here's the Greyhound® path. A pic's worth a thousand words Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 05:21, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And here's the Boston/Philly train & bus swamp causeway from orbit

Most spectacular corona of a lifetime[edit]

A NASA researcher focused on solar physics, said that he expects this to be the most spectacular corona of a lifetime. “The more solar activity, the more spikes all the way around from the sun,” “I think it’s going to be really cool.” The space weather forecast says possible coronal mass ejection bubble & triple large arches Film and at least some digital cameras have too little white to black range to look as good as the eye view, though some of the pics have been eye simulating composites for decades. Where one pic's underexposed except the brightest pixels, one's overexposed except the darkest eye-visible pixels and so on & they show the right pixels at the right brightness. Sometimes they blastitize a camera with so much light the Moon pixels are lit by the Full Earth so they look like a hyperunderexposed Full Moon but that's hard or impossible to see by eye. And with a telescope especially with a Nagler (82 degree field-of-view) you can see that up to dozens of times bigger. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 14:31, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm mostly happy you're happy. InedibleHulk (talk) 19:31, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
