Note[edit]

A file which you previously commented on has been nominated for deletion [1]╟─TreasuryTagballotbox─╢ 08:20, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

hi,

I see you wanted to delete this page as he hasn't played first grade.

'Josh the newcastle fan' has created U20 players that haven't played first grade for the Knights and yet you don't delete them.

Some examples are = Jake Finn, Chad Redman and Neenan Simpson

mgt98

In my view, those three pages don't meet the relevant notability criteria either, so I have proposed them for deletion. --Mkativerata (talk) 22:05, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Mkativerata. You have new messages at Josh the newcastle fan's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Dell Schanze[edit]

I'm confused by your comments in the deletion review. How're HJ Mitchell's actions very bold or debatable? It almost sounds like you're referring to GRuban, but I'm having a hard time making sense of that as well. --Ronz (talk) 01:23, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, by those comments I mean that (a) I think the speedy deletion of a page like that is a bold move and (2) it is also debatable, as evidenced by the number of people arguing to overturn it.--Mkativerata (talk) 01:26, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. It seems to contradict your personal perspective, but I understand. I was quite surprised by the deletion of the previous version. At least this time we're getting a proper review. --Ronz (talk) 01:29, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RfA[edit]

Thank you very much for your contribution to my Rfa. Even though you did not support me I respect your opinion, and I have taken note of your comments. I have made a comment about it at User talk:JamesBWatson#Your Request for Adminship which you are, of course, very welcome to read if you wish to. You might want to take a look at this. Btw, is there any WP guideline on conflicting information by different sources? - Yk (talk) 12:08, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. It was a mix-up by myself. - Yk (talk) 12:18, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RfA?[edit]

Hi Mkativerata. I've been pondering some good potential RfA candidates and you were one of those near the top of my mental list. You're cordial, have a decent array of contributions, and seem to be well-versed in copyright. Would you be interested in running at RfA? If so, please email me! Thanks, ceranthor 13:50, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, only two weeks after the last person asked you about running, I think it's a sign... VernoWhitney (talk) 14:19, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Ceranthor, thanks for the expression of confidence! It's very nice to know that there are experienced editors and admins who think I'm ready, but to be frank, I don't think I am. But I will email you if my view changes down the track. Thanks again --Mkativerata (talk) 19:48, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, but be ready soon! ;) ceranthor 21:06, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

--Thank you! Btw, any time you decide you;re ready for adminship, you can count on my support. I could easily be persuaded to nominate or go co-nom. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:09, 5 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much, HJ Mitchell - my current thoughts on that are in a thread somewhere up the page. Cheers --Mkativerata (talk) 20:10, 5 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
BTW nice ITN template with the "get off their arse" thing. :) I was actually in the middle of updating the Wimbledon articles yesterday when I gave up. So now I've left a pointy oppose at ITN/C... --Mkativerata (talk) 20:18, 5 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I like to add a personal touch! ;) We're seriously short of people to do the updating- I'd do it myself, but then I have to wait for another ITN admin to check their watchlist (or just go an bug Courcelles!) and tennis is so not my area of interest. What really makes my blood boil is when people start threads (despite the big red writing in the edit notice!) on T:MP asking why this item or that item isn't on ITN, to which my response is usually a polite form off "get off your bloody arse and update it, then I'll stick it up!" ;) I saw your thoughts on adminship above, that's what prompted me to mention it- I think you'd make a fine admin and you'd have a good chance of getting through RfA. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:35, 5 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - I have reviewed Liberal Party of Australia leadership election, 2009, which you listed at the Good Article nominees page. My review of the article can be found here. As you can see, I've raised quite a few issues with the article. Before you panic/become depressed/burn me in effigy, though, here are some things to bear in mind:

  • The points I raise are not necessarily all things that need to be addressed before I list it as a GA. Instead, they are things that I think could improve the article. In my view, the actual GA status is of secondary importance in the GA process; what's more important is improving the article, and I think that goal is best served by making as many suggestions as possible.
  • In my experience, I'm among the most stringent GA reviewers out there, especially in the "well-written" category, where I tend to review GA and FA candidates in essentially the same way. Again, I do this because I think it's best for the article; however, if you think the points I've raised are too nit-picky or minor and you'd rather not address them, I may be willing to promote the article without them all being addressed.
  • The opinions I express in my GA reviews are just that - my opinions (I also express some things, like grammatical rules or the requirements of WP:V, that are not my opinions). If you disagree with any of my opinions, please say so; you don't need to convince me that you're right, just that your position is a reasonable one. Steve Smith (talk) 23:37, 5 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for the comprehensive and detailed review - such a review is exactly what I need for my own development as an editor right now. I'm actually relieved that just about all of the issues you've identified are with prose (which can be fixed) rather than fundamental problems with the approach taken to the article. And it confirms my view that prose is where I need to improve as an editor - especially with redundant words. I'll get to work on improving the article over the next day or so and respond on the GA page. Thanks again.--Mkativerata (talk) 00:03, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Bravo! I've been watching you improve this article from afar, and I'd just like to commend you for it - we have far too little recognised content at OzPol and it's great to see something recent get the gong. Any chance it'll be at FAC soon? Frickeg (talk) 23:28, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your kind words, Frickeg. Ozpol isn't really an area of expertise for me so it has been a bit challenging to step out of my comfort zone. I'm not intending to try an FAC for this article, but I'm more than happy for someone else to carry the baton to FAC if they want.--Mkativerata (talk) 23:33, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks![edit]

Many thanks for the barnstar - it feels good to be appreciated :-) I'm glad that the article survived FAR, and look forward to saving many more. Regards, SBC-YPR (talk) 17:08, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi can you check this FA to see if there is OR in the bottom half of the article? YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 03:11, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm… Multiple paragraphs of analytical content - often successively - without sources. Looks very much OR to me let alone WP:V issues. The "Interpretation and enforcement" seems to be the biggest problem. Shall I draft an FAR?--Mkativerata (talk) 03:17, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
My quota, is always spent, and I'm always looking for more people to make thigns accountable, so yes please YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 03:36, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, I'll get to it over the next day or so.--Mkativerata (talk) 03:39, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RFA Thank spam[edit]

Thank you for voting in my RfA, which failed with 10 support, 26 oppose, and 13 neutral. Your comments were much appreciated.

On a personal note, thanks for supporting me Mkativerata. It's nice to know that I'm improving.--White Shadows There goes another day 16:16, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just curious[edit]

Hey, I know quite a few people have approached you about an RfA an I mentioned above that you can count on my support at the very last. What got me curious, though, was that yo said somewhere further up this page that you don't feel you're ready, yet you've supported several RfAs where the candidate is arguably less experienced than you. I haven't (yet!) gone over all your contributions with a fine-toothed comb, but with over 11,000 edits in nearly 3 years and some impressive content work, you could sail through an RfA assuming there are no skeletons in your closet. Any time you decide you are ready, I'd be happy to nominate or co-nom if you wanted. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:43, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again - but the 3 years part is misleading. I think I only had about 200 edits for the first 2.5 years and most of them were rubbish. So I consider myself to only have six months' experience, and it's only in the last 2-3 months that I've really started to learn the ropes and avoid doing stupid things. So I think I need a while longer: not as a tactic to pass RFA, but to satisfy myself that I'm ready (if that time ever comes - I'm quite enjoying just doing mainspace editing work right now). --Mkativerata (talk) 20:51, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There is that- I've certainly spent less time in the mainspace than I'd like to since I got the bit. There's certainly no rush, and I'm not trying to chivvy you, I was just curious to hear your thoughts! Like I say, though, if yo ever decide you're ready and find yourself short of a nominator, my door's open. :) Until then, I'll see you around ITN, since that and RfA are the only places yo seem to pop up on my watchlist!
