A tag has been placed on User:Michaelfeuer requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because... (your reason here) I have no idea why this would be deleted. It's a standard kind of bio, format I borrowed from many colleagues/friends who have similar entries. Is there something I'm missing? Please advise. I'm a new user, and apologize if I've misunderstood something! --Michaelfeuer (talk) 09:35, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, your userpage, as explained at the help desk, is not to contain article-like contant. It is to tell other editors a small amount about yourself and how you intend to contribute to Wikipedia. Eagleash (talk) 09:47, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) :Yes, you have misunderstood what Wikipedia is about. As an encyclopaedia, Wikipedia reports only what has already been written about in WP:Reliable sources. I haven't checked whether you have been so written about (making you notable in the Wikipedia sense), but your user page is not the place for an article about yourself (see WP:User page). You might like to read WP:Autobiography, and WP:Referencing for beginners. Every fact should have an in-line reference provided. If you satisfy Wikipedia:Notability (academics), then perhaps you could copy the content of your user page back to your sandbox before it is deleted, and use WP:Articles for creation after declaring your WP:Conflict of interest. If you have colleagues who have done the same as you, then their pages are liable for deletion, too. Dbfirs 09:55, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I can provide you the text from the now-deleted draft if you need it, but if you just want to tell the world about yourself, you should use social media. Wikipedia has no interest in what one wants to say about themselves. As noted, if you have colleagues that have written autobiographical articles, they would have the same issues. 331dot (talk) 11:12, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You should not directly edit about yourself, please read about how to make edit requests. 331dot (talk) 08:56, 4 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

October 2019[edit]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article about yourself, at User:Michaelfeuer/sandbox/Michael J Feuer. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you.
