Welcome![edit]

Hello, Michael Roth MdB, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your recent contributions, such as your edit to the page Michael Roth (politician), have removed content without an explanation. If you'd like to experiment with the wiki's syntax, please do so in the sandbox rather than in articles.

If you still have questions, there is a new contributors' help page, or you can place {{helpme}} on your talk page along with a question and someone will be along to answer it shortly. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia:

I hope you enjoy editing Wikipedia! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! Kleuske (talk) 14:08, 10 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your username[edit]

Hi. Your username imples that you are the subject of the article you edited. This conflicts with a number of policies and guidelines, to wit WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY which strongly discourages writing about yourself and WP:COI, which prevents editing with a conflict of interest. Moreover you are deleting material w/o providing a proper reason. Simply stating "it's out of date" does not suffice. Thirdly, since the article you edited is about a public figure, your username conflicts with WP:REALNAME, which prevents impersonation of these public figures. You are encouraged to expound on any and all concerns you have about the article talk page. Please keep that in mind when editing. Thanks. Kleuske (talk) 14:31, 10 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Update reverted[edit]

Hello Kleuske, I don't get your point. Why do you revert the complete update of the article? Lot of information is simply out of date, especially functions and memberships. Links don't work. We can discuss about individual changes, but blocking the whole update is not in the service of truthful information. Michael Roth MdB (talk) 14:38, 10 July 2018 (UTC) The points:[reply]

July 2018[edit]

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because the username, Michael Roth MdB, matches the name of a well-known, living person.

If you are the person represented by this username, please note that the practice of blocking such usernames is to protect you from being impersonated, not to discourage you from editing Wikipedia. You may choose to edit under a new username (see information below), but keep in mind that you are welcome to continue to edit under this username. If you choose to do so, we ask the following:

  1. Please be willing and able to prove your identity to Wikipedia.
  2. Please send an email to info-en@wikimedia.org. Be aware that the volunteer response team that handles email is indeed operated entirely by volunteers, and the reply may not be immediate.

If you are not the person represented by this username, you are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "Email this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you think that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this notice, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. 331dot (talk) 21:26, 10 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
