What is there to discuss about this? Nareklm 17:52, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think the article is not written in neutral point-of-view language and can benefit from an outside perspective. I don't know anything about Armenian illumination, and I have no books on the subject, so I tagged it so someone who knows something about the subject can find and help rewrite it. LeaHazel : talk : contribs 17:55, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see anything wrong with the article it states everything perfectly with references. If you would be more descriptive on which sentence you find NPOV Nareklm 18:02, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I stated the issue for the record on the article's talk page, where anyone who sees the tag can find it easily. If you disagree with my reasoning, please do it there. LeaHazel : talk : contribs 18:08, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jaycie W.[edit]

Hey, I think that this should be here because in some area she already is kinda' famous, and people do wonder who she is, as well as she is probably going to become one of the World's legendary singers, but even for now, I think that it should stay because I feel a page is deserved for her, so people so read up on the 'special one' that they've heard about, because they have heard of her, and a lot of people have seen her perform, and they want to read up on her - you know, the usual thing. So if you could help me build it up better or something, then that'd help a lot, but it shouldn't be deleted, I'm telling you now, that would be a bad mistake! She is notable, and there should be a page about her, and this such thing would please the public a lot!

If the article's subject meets Wikipedia's notability criteria, the way to handle that is to put a {{hangon}} tag on the article, and then edit it to provide a reliable source that shows it. The list of criteria for notability of individuals appears at Wikipedia:Notability (people). (Cross-posted) LeaHazel : talk : contribs 09:41, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

bulgarian brass bands[edit]

n.p., i think the category series like at the bottom of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fanfare_Cioc%C4%83rlia might work fine for getting roughly the same thing done eventually. barbarians are coming, say goodnight rome.  :) --chaizzilla 15:49, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The category Brass bands is small enough that it doesn't need diffusing. If it were more populated, there would be room for creating sub-categories for "brass bands by nationality" and the like. LeaHazel : talk : contribs 15:51, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Inappropriate[edit]

High, and thanks for the message. The reason that it is inappropriate is that it would give the impression that the name is established, while it is not. So i argue that it is better to avoid bolding the name in order to not create any misunderstandings. Peace. --Striver - talk 18:54, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If Hadith of the Umrah of Sa'd is not an official name, then the fact that the Wikipedia article about it is named that lends as much credance to the name as any text that appears within the article, if not more. The article should be under the same name as it would appear under in any other encyclopedia, and if the name is unofficial or controversial then that should be discussed in the article. However, the Manual of Style is called so because it's about style and not contents. Regardless of whether a name is official or not, it should appear as I have formatted it. LeaHazel : talk : contribs 18:59, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The point is that it does not have a name, and that is explicitly told in the lead with the following text: Although the narration is prominently quoted and referred to, it is not given any formal name, in contrast to other hadith such as the Hadith of the pond of Khumm or the Hadith of Qur'an and Sunnah. --Striver - talk 03:33, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

R.E.M.[edit]

Just wondering why you would add a disambiguation link to the R.E.M. article when it has (band) in its title? - Dudesleeper 12:52, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Because the disambiguation page is at REM and R.E.M. redirects to the band, not to rapid eye movement or any of the other uses. Both versions of the acronym are used, so I figured a direct link to the disambiguation page was in order. LeaHazel : talk : contribs 12:55, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What reason was there for LeaHazel deleting much of this article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by NNDEAN (talkcontribs) 21:27, 15 January 2007

I didn't delete anything, actually. I thought something might have been deleted by accident, but I looked back at the last edit before mine and nothing was. All I did was apply the format accepted in Wikipedia's guidelines (such as the Manual of Style): added wikilinks and markup and tagged the article as needing more references from other articles. pt:Ronaldo Folegatti de:Ronaldo Folegatti — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maurice Lelaix (talkcontribs) 15:32, 29 January 2007

If you check the history of the article you'll see that I'm not the one who added the notability tag to the article. I only wikified it.
However, foreign language Wikipedia articles might not be enough, since wiki sites can't be used as reliable sources. Did you read the notability guidelines? They should explain more thoroughly what types of sources can establish encyclopedic notability for a biographical article. LeaHazel : talk : contribs 12:52, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Evil Inc[edit]

Lea,

Please forgive me if I am posting to the wrong individual or posting incorrectly.

If you are responsible for deleting the article on my daily comic strip, Evil Inc, may I ask you to reconsider that decision?

As I have posted on the page, Evil Inc is not a webcomic, it is a newspaper comic strip with a Web presence.

Evil Inc is a daily comic strip that has over 11,000 daily readers (as of Jan. 2007). It is a spin-off of my first comic, Greystone Inn, which was launched Feb 2000.

Later this month, I will celebrate seven years of creating a daily comic strip on a Monday-through-Saturday schedule. That's over 2,000 comics.

Evil Inc appears in several daily newspapers -- as did Greystone Inn. My two other comic projects, Courting Disaster and Phables, appear in newspapers (including the Philadelphia Daily News) as well.

The Philadelphia Daily News is the largest newspaper to carry these comics. It has a daily circulation of roughly 130,000. Newspaper readers are not included in the estimate of daily readers cited above. Adding even 1% of the circulation, though, adds another thousand or so daily readers.

There are two Evil Inc graphic novels, distributed worldwide by Diamond Distribution.

I am also the author of "The Everything Cartooning Book," published and distributed worldwide by Adams Media.

I find the Wikipedia entry on my strip to be a good resource for new readers. I would be very disappointed to see it disappear.

  1. I am not responsible for deleting articles. Only administrators can delete articles. I am not even the one that put a deletion tag on the article in question. I have not even read the article in question. I saw a query by a new user and attempted to respond to it as best I could.
  2. Volume of readership does not establish notability. Please be aware that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and a decision to delete an article about a subject is not a judgement of its worth, but of its corresponding to the roughly objective criteria of encyclopedi notability -- having been the subject of several independent works by reliable, notable sources. Encyclopedic notability needs to be asserted immediately as an article is created to prevent it from being deleted.
  3. As said, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. I'm not sure what you mean by "resource for new readers," but it can be mistaken for advertising, which is not what Wikipedia is for, or fanlisting, which is also not what Wikipedia is for.
  4. If you are the creator of the comic strip in question, you should avoid editing articles about yourself or your creations, because it constitutes a conflict of interest.
Thank you. If you wish to contest the deletion of the article in question, Wikipedia:Deletion review is the place to go. LeaHazel : talk : contribs 23:13, 2 February 2007

License tagging for Image:DAKAN.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:DAKAN.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 13:06, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Abortion in Israel[edit]

Great work on the well-rounded Abortion in Israel article! Thank you for helping to fill a gap in the Abortion by country articles. As an aside, I've actually been searching for public opinion data from Israel for the article Societal attitudes towards abortion for a while now. If you could point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks! -Severa (!!!) 14:32, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the enlightening me as to public opinion on abortion in Israel. I suppose, given how common opinion polls and such are in North American media, I assumed that the trend would carry over internationally, and that my failure to locate such polls was chiefly due to my inability to read languages other than English.
As for reformatting your cites, chalk it up to my obsessive-compulsive need to format everything in a quasi-APA style. Feel free to restore your cites to the previous citation style if you would like.
Good luck with the article in the future. :-) -Severa (!!!) 13:27, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ormonde Jayne[edit]

Hi there - I just noticed that you recommended that Ormonde Jayne for speedy deletion (which has happened). I was out of the country when this happened, and was unable to comment. Please know that I am not afilliated with this company, merely very interested in boutique perfumers and finding information about them. Might you tell me what made this article appeal to you as advertising? I would like to recreate the article, perhaps with your guidance I can make it more acceptable. Thanks. Ivo Lukačovič missorting[edit]

Your edit summary in this edit is flirting with incivility at the least: (Really, tagging with a normal stub template and categorizing are not that difficult.)

But it really is much worse than that, when after making that edit, you go and add [[Category:Living people|Lukačovič, Ivo]] and three other categories with the same sort key.

Yes, it really isn't that difficult. At least if you put a minimal amount of effort into it. Go read up on it at Wikipedia:Categorization. Then go back and fix that sort key there to "Lukacovic, Ivo" and do the same on any other articles you have misindexed in the same way. Gene Nygaard 04:16, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies. I guess I was getting more snippy than I realized. As to the accents in sorting, I was not aware of the relevant guideline, and will consider it in the future. I thought since the name is non-English, the original spelling ought to be used. Thanks for the note. LeaHazel : talk : contribs 12:49, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Wikipedians in Serbia and Montenegro[edit]

I have speedy deleted a category you created, Category:Wikipedians in Serbia and Montenegro, as recreation of previously deleted material. Please see this UCFD debate, resulting in delete. Thanks for understanding! VegaDark 09:33, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When I originally deleted it, I removed it from templates and userpages. If people want to re-add themselves to nonexistant categories, not much I can do about it. I'll re-delete it from any templates I see and see if I can get a bot to delete it off the people who simply added the category to their page. VegaDark 20:12, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, LeaHazel, welcome to WikiProject LGBT Studies!

We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying, categorizing, and improving articles of interest to the LGBT community. Some points that may be helpful:

  • Our main aim is to help improve LGBT-related articles, so if someone asks for help with an article, please try your hardest to help them if you are able.
  • Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
  • The project has several ongoing and developing activities, such as article quality assessment, peer review and a project-wide article collaboration, all of which you are welcome to take part in. We also have a unique program to improve our lower quality articles, Jumpaclass, so please consider signing up there.
  • If you have another language besides English, please consider adding yourself to our translation section, to help us improve our foreign LGBT topics.
  • If you're planning to stay, have a square in our quilt! You can put anything you want in it.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

And once again - Welcome!

Unfounded accustaion RE; Sock Puppet[edit]

---I'm curious to know how you came to this conclusion? You have little more than circumstancial evidence. The whole page is slander and I will be contacting an administrator about this. Lojah 22:23, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you look again at the page I've created, you'll see I listed the exact reasons why I suspect User:Curvedtalk is a sockpuppet or meatpuppet. You are more than welcome to contact an administrator, as that's the purpose of WP:SSP. Administrators can review the links I provided and decide whether my suspicions are correct or not. This is not, in fact, slander. Rather, I'm following Wikipedia convention on what to do when a new user seems to be a single purpose account. By submitting the matter for inquiry I have said my piece, and will sit back and allow administrators and other users to examine the situation. Thank you. LeaHazel : talk : contribs 23:14, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

---I'm not saying that Curved talk is a genuine account. I want to know what your evidence is that curvedtalk is ME. You chose to use the words 'conclusion and "is" a sockpuppet of Lojah, instead of "may be" or "suspected to be." Since it is not true, I will be persuing it as slander. Me, WJB, Raystorm and Jeff are from England, England, Spain and Holland respectively, but I agree with you in that we still don't quite have the international flavour I'd like. Anytime you want to work on that, feel free. ;) Yours, Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 11:44, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of List of gay villages[edit]

An editor has nominated List of gay villages, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of gay villages and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Fair use rationale for Image:Astx20_brand.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Astx20_brand.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 08:55, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Astx20_brand.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Astx20_brand.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:44, 6 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 21:44, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
