Removal of spaces after # sign

Hi -- I believe that the article from which you removed spaces after the # sign was actually fine as it was. So -- just as there is a space before the digit in "Number 3" and "number 3" and "No. 3", it is perfectly fine to have one in "# 3" -- as it was. Before I revert, however, to how it has been (for a long time in that article), I thought I would discuss it with you.--Ethelh (talk) 01:04, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

The number sign is a symbol, not an abbreviation, so the examples of words and abbreviations don't apply. If they did, we'd be seeing a space before every percent sign, but that's incorrect according to MOS:NUM#Percentages. Honestly, I've never seen any professional English writing with a space after the number sign, but I can't find a guideline to support this; perhaps we should ask at WT:MOSNUM? —LOL T/C 01:50, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
Feel free to do so. Honestly, I've usually seen a space after. Apart from it being logical to me (for the reasons stated--I do believe that it serves has the same meaning as No., Number, and number -- and would be read out loud the same way), I think it makes it an easier read -- though I do agree that the percent sign is never preceded by a space.--Ethelh (talk) 02:05, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

I'm confused by your confusion. I agree that my comment should be kept, but I'm just letting you know that I removed some of the IP's comments because they were obvious trolling or irrelevant. Ah, got it. Sorry, just had a sudden influx of stuff to deal with and I got a bit turned around. Anyway, in my opinion, trolling is usually vandalism anyway. However, are irrelevant comments really worth deleting? Template:Infobox NBA Player

Hi. I have a question about Template:Infobox NBA Player. Is it at all possible to modify the infobox so that it can include refs or footnotes in the height/weight fields? I think footnotes could be helpful for resolving edit wars about players' heights and weights, but if I try to add something like that, I get a big red "expression error" message.

If adding footnotes is not possible, would it be possible to modify the infobox so that we can remove heights and weights without causing the infobox to replace those fields with ugly {{height}} and {{weight}} fillers?

Try putting height_footnote = <ref>Height note here</ref> in an infobox now. weight_footnote should work the same way. Template question

Hi, got a question for you. Is it possible to make upright template (such as Template:NBA Awards) to also displays as a footer, perhaps by changing a parameter? Like Template:Current G20 Leaders—Chris!c/t 03:48, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

I think I'd have to make a general template, and then have the "upright" template transclude it before this can work, so if this is only intended to work for {{NBA Awards}} I would prefer to only work on that specific template. Also, I would have to know what to do with the headings (e.g. "Individual awards") because I don't see any headings in {{Current G20 Leaders}}, so could you make a footer version of the Awards template? —LOL T/C 11:03, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Skew-symmetric matrix

I noticed that you changed a section header in this article; citing this section of MOS:HEAD. Would I be right to assume that you "change[d] a heading only after careful consideration, because this will break section links to it within the same article and from other articles" and that after changing the heading you tried "to locate and fix broken links"? ~~ Dr Dec (Talk) ~~ 23:43, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

I considered the fact that "A, an, and the are normally avoided as the first word"; that "[s]ection names should not explicitly refer to the subject of the article, or to higher-level headings, unless doing so is shorter or clearer"; and that out of the 50+ articles that link to Skew-symmetric matrix, those whose titles contain "determinant" do not link to that specific section, so probably not many articles—if any at all—would link to that. Do you think I was careful enough and did enough damage control? Did you find any articles that linked to the section? —LOL T/C 00:20, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi there, I'm not trying to cause an edit battle by reverting your edits of this page, it's just that the section about his post-lawler fight comments may be difficult to source, but there is no reason that the user who added this information would be making it up. And the comment about his success in different organizations can be proven via his fight record, which is essentially acting as a source, it would just be pointless to source that, as the information is shown further down the page. I apologize if it seems like I'm attacking your edits, and I assure you I'm not. Please think about this, and if you have anything to add, post it on this page, as I do not have a talk page. Hey, no worries, I'm always down for a good discussion. I didn't see an attack and I hope you didn't see any from me. Anyway, the reason I wanted a source is not because I doubt the truth of the content, but because of Wikipedia's policy on "original research" (WP:NOR), which requires that "all material in Wikipedia must be attributable to a reliable, published source." In our case, the policy filters out some trivia because no reliable sources seem to care about Ghosn's post-fight comments or his non-UFC record. Does that make sense to you?
By the way, before reverting, could you check for other changes that were made? I did some copyediting and cleanup on his article according to Wikipedia's Manual of Style, and I don't think you meant to undo those. if you cared to google it there are thousands of sources. i just picked one.

I wouldn't say that the sources you provided are that reliable; for an issue that's as big as you're making this sound, I would expect articles from bigger sites like IGN, Gamespot, 1UP, etc. Sure, whatever you Googled may show a bunch of users with problems, but until those problems are addressed by a reliable source, we can't really say anything; Wikipedia's content is determined by reliable sources and not what "people need to know".
At any rate, the pages you did link do not back up what you're putting in the article; they're just error guides that don't say anything about a large amount of users experiencing problems or their reports. —LOL T/C 23:28, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

NBA Infobox

Some of us at Project NBA came to an agreement that the current NFL format would be the best format for the NBA infobox. Basically take a look at the current NFL infobox and change NFL draft to NBA draft and change NFL.com to NBA.com. Being that you have experience on NBA templates, can you help? Just a comment, I don't think expansion drafts need a succession box. I think, if it's possible, it's better to link that year's expansion draft to the NBA draft, just like the example I tried here. Check it out. For NBA Draft articles, the expansion draft link automatically appears in the infobox iff there was an expansion team for that year. Also, I forgot that one year could have several expansion teams; would you mind if I change exp_team to exp_teams? —LOL T/C 19:39, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
