Why can't I edit some particular pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them. If this is not the case, you may have been blocked or your IP address caught up in a range block.
Where can I experiment with editing Wikipedia?
How do I create an article?
See how to create your first article, then use the Article Wizard to create one, and add references to the article as explained below.
How do I create citations?
  1. Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
  2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
  3. In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
  4. Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
  5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like <ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing).
  6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
  7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References==
{{Reflist}}
What is a WikiProject, and how do I join one?
A WikiProject is a group of editors that are interested in improving the coverage of certain topics on Wikipedia. (See this page for a complete list of WikiProjects.) If you would like to help, add your username to the list that is on the bottom of the WikiProject page.

Hello, I'm Fuzheado. I noticed that in this edit to Delhi Capitals in 2020, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Fuzheado | Talk 18:19, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Virat kohli[edit]

Hello Kirubar thanks for your contribution on wikipedia but currently you seems to be an edit war, As you are disputing on Lead image of Virat Kohli it is advicable to have a consensus before blindly reverting edits again & again. The image i add from 2015 has good resolution and seems fine as there are no difference in that from one of 2017, So please stop this nonsense and contribute positively. Holy Contributor 92 (talk) 05:37, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Don't use words as your wish. You're saying that you kept higher resolution, Is 38kb and some pixels better than the ones I placed? Only by consensus the last image placed there, you only doing such reverts. If u like that image, save it in yours. Don't change the consensus. All we are doing is updating. With that old image than the others, what u are expecting? Did you edit in Wikipedia before with any other names? Kirubar (talk) 05:45, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Blank articles?[edit]

Hi - you just created a bunch of completely blank articles - is there a reason why you're doing that in article space, rather than in draft? @User:Lugnuts Please tell me, for a newly announced tournament like today, Short Description, Infobox, References will be enough? I started and kept editing, totally a count of 16 articles about domestic season. Within I get completed, the reviewers came. Some of the pages that I created within the last hour 10 out of 16, got vanished. Anyway. Thanks for your words.:-) Kirubar (talk) 13:36, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The main tournament page should be fine, but all the group/plate pages are redundant right now, as they are just a mirror of the main tournament page. Assuming they go ahead this year (COVID permitting), then once fixtures, etc are confirmed, then the group pages should be good to go. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 13:41, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lugnuts I can understand. In future, I'll correct those. Thanks for your valuable guidance :-) Kirubar (talk) 13:56, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Also, we're tripping over each others edits on when players/umpires last played. I'm happy to do these to avoid edit-conflicts. Hi Kirubar, I am not comfortable with your edit in fixtures of this league. Why you done in this way?Please clarify me. (Fade258 (talk) 09:36, 13 July 2021 (UTC))[reply]

@Fade258 Hi there, I hope u're doing well. After seeing the previous season articles, I also thought like "why they didn't use single innings match template?". Then I realized that, there is lesser maintenance/ existence of TN Players articles and eligibility for starting new players articles. I read that eligibility for starting new players articles, minimum they've to play IPL like that. If you follow single innings match template, then you'll end up with more red links or without links. Hope you will understand. If you have any other alternatives or it's possible, tell me, I'll get back that table edit. Kirubar (talk) 09:52, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Fade258 Chill. Already on your last message, I didn't think that you're blaming me. Some players, coming straight to TNPL without playing in first class or IPL level. Here, they are saying that, A player must be played in first class/ IPL / County, then only u will create an article for that player. About this experiment, we'll see, How we ourselves, will work in TN Domestic players articles. Thanks :-) Kirubar (talk) 10:22, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know if you use Twinkle but with this tool, you can request a page be moved and deleted in the same step so you don't have to blank a page, wait for an admin to delete it and then move the page over. It speeds things up a bit and has a lot of functionality, it allows you to tag pages and notify page creators of the tagging which makes things easy. I suggest trying it out. Thanks. Liz Read! TNPL[edit]

In formation icon Hi, Kirubar I think you didn't Understand my question . As per your norms , we can't use a single innings match templates until creation of all TNPL players articles like IPL . It is impossible for tournaments like TNPL . Rather than this we are able to create an Articles for main players . We can use single innings match template without insert link of particular player . If we use a table instead of template, There is no use to provide League Stage section in article . Anyways, Let you know Wikipedia is one of trusted site all over world . 2021 season of The Hundred[edit]

Hi Kirubar, Just for your information, the status icons in league tables are used when the season is incomplete but teams are assured of a particular position. This is used, for example, in the Premier League towards the end when a team is guaranteed at least Europa League or similar, but may currently be in a Champions League qualifying spot (hence the confusion when colours alone are used). When the season is complete, the status icons are removed as the colours become self-explanatory. --M00036 (talk) 12:05, 14 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@User:M00036 I knew this fair bit of info already. Thanks for reminding me that. Amid this pandemic, suddenly if next match abandoned due to Covid and bottom third team qualifies based on average points per match basis, will that lead you correctly? You never know. Already in tourneys like 2021 T20 Blast this happened, until the last match u never know. That's why I removed the status icons. Ok anyway. Thanks :-) Kirubar (talk) 12:34, 14 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup squads[edit]

Hi. Thanks for your work on this, including reveting the vandalism. The page is now protected, so that should stop for a while! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 15:16, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lugnuts Thanks for your words. :-) Eventually, I saw 1 look at the edit summary lol. And getting annoyed. We're working throughout, they're taking revenge using this. :-)))) Anyway, sorted now. Thanks. Kirubar (talk) 15:39, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lugnuts Hi, there. [1] This IP constantly doing this, I don't know what to do (。•́︿•̀。) . Also that IP revert taaged as Rollback like that Kirubar (talk) 10:24, 12 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I've reverted with an edit summary of what is the current state of play. If it continues, I suggest starting a discussion on the talkpage and putting a note at WT:CRIC to get more eyes on it. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 10:26, 12 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lugnuts Thanks for your attention and in hand help. :-) Kirubar (talk) 10:28, 12 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I see a lot of IP edits in the recent history of that page. I don't know if they are good or not, but if there's an increase in bad edits/vandalism, then you can request protection at WP:RFPP. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 10:31, 12 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lugnuts I have a small list. Specific current cricket events, 2021–23 WTC, 2021–23 CWCSL, 2021 ICC WT20 (IP invasion starting from October), 2021 IPL (IP Invasion expected from later this month). Lol. Thanks, will try to use those talk navigations. Kirubar (talk) 10:35, 12 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lugnuts, Again. [2]. Time for WP:RFPP??? Kirubar (talk) 13:21, 12 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If it's ongoing disruption/vandalism, then yes. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 13:22, 12 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lugnuts Yesterday, I posted a RFPP. Result

Hi. Discuss the issue with them on their talkpage. If they continue with disruption/vandalism, then report them at WP:AIV. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 06:45, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lugnuts CSA Provincial T20: But CSA announcement, Cricinfo and Cricket Mag pages indicating that franchise names, so I'm confused now. Kirubar (talk) 12:20, 21 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. It's a bit unclear, but the six franchise teams, such as Lions, ceased to exist earlier this year following the restructuring of South Africa's domestic tournaments. "Lions" now means Gauteng, as in "Gauteng Lions". Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:23, 21 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Morning! Apologies, looks like you were correct on this. Obviously Cricket South Africa back-tracked on their own restructuring and have kept some of the franchise teams (for now)! I've updated the page to reflect this. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:53, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lugnuts, Cheers. Actually, as I said earlier I was confused about the structure and it's very new setup SA Domestic. Right r Wrong, you know what's appropriate to place there, I had a headache trying to understand the structure. So I left it to you stopping with Pool A. Thanks for completing the Pools :–) Kirubar (talk) 09:38, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Citations in lead[edit]

MOS:LEADCITE says that Because the lead will usually repeat information that is in the body, editors should balance the desire to avoid redundant citations in the lead with the desire to aid readers in locating sources for challengeable material. As they're cited in the Play-off and Final sections, sources are not needed, and shouldn't be used. Other articles may use sources in the lead, if that information isn't sourced anywhere else, but for this article, it is wrong to do so as the content is sourced elsewhere. Joseph2302 (talk) 13:55, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Joseph2302 That was not about format, the text may be written like that. I think you're having me a misconception. What was in the lead with ref, as nothing like in Background and format section. But specifically it was saying who qualified who advanced.. That's all. Kirubar (talk) 14:07, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We don't need a ref for who was 1st, 2nd, 3rd in the lead, as the same text is mentioned in different sections. This is consistent with other sports articles that do it correctly (even if it's not consistent with other cricket articles, which are doing it wrong). But it is useful information to have in the lead nevertheless. Joseph2302 (talk) 14:20, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Joseph 2302 Ok, But I'll adapt to it (with that inconsistency). Thanks for your valid info. Kirubar (talk) 14:23, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Great Work[edit]

Hello, Kirubar I have noticed that you have did a very good work for updating Indian Premier League 2021 articles. You have did a very good job. Have a nice day (Mr.Mani Raj Paul - talk 12:13, 20 October 2021 (UTC))[reply]

@Mr.Mani Raj Paul Thank you for your words. And pushing me further thanks. (•‿•) Kirubar (talk) 12:47, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

T20 World Cup[edit]

Evening! Hope you are well. I can't find it right now, but the ICC def. stated that if Sri Lanka or Bangladesh qualify from their group, they'll automatically become qualifiers A1 or B1, regardless if they actually finish in first place. I think the rational is to avoid them both being in the same group in the Super12s, and conversely avoiding having two associate teams in the other Super12 group. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 18:23, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lugnuts Now I understand, that's probably the best possible rational as you said. Though, the ICC media release stated that SL was qualified, I was looking for the updated fixtures in CI as well as t20worldcup.com. Minding this rational thing, what will happen if SCOTLAND finishes B1 and BAN B2? Group 2 will be even more one sided/upsets. Answers we'll get day after tomorrow. Thanks. (•‿•) Kirubar (talk) 02:44, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Finally found it! Right at the bottom of that press release. Hoping for Scotland and Ireland getting through now. Hard to believe the Dutch were the first team to get knocked out. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 06:34, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Lugnuts Yep. Bit of a shock about the Dutch. We'll watch. Thanks Kirubar (talk) 06:58, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lugnuts Is the A1:B1 rule changed again, according to Human? Kirubar (talk) 13:40, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lugnuts Any idea for the Rescheduled 5th ENG v IND Test, to display in WTC Page? Either to be merged in August 2021 as a rescheduled test or start afresh as July 2022 ? If we do so, how to connect to SCHEDULES anchor? Kirubar (talk) 12:36, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I've gone for this solution. Keep it simple! But if someone thinks of something better, then go with that. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:46, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lugnuts Hi there, just one little clarification. For a Cricket match, Is it necessary to mention 'DELAY BY WET OUTFIELD' that was due to rain? Even with Inline citations? Just asking. Or just the match reduced to this much overs due to rain, is this enough? Please share your views. Kirubar (talk) 16:49, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Don't need to mention a delay for a wet outfield, as such. Although I do recall these matches from earlier this year. The first two were washed out due to rain, with the third not happening as the ground was still wet and not dry in time! A wet outfield would only delay the toss, so a match might get reduced down to say 35 overs per side because of it. You wouldn't have a toss and then get a wet outfield, unless it's raining. Hope that helps. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:01, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lugnuts Thanks for your quick attention. Please have a look at this. I'm done trying. I don't know what to do. It's going beyond 3RRR level. Kirubar (talk) 17:05, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'd start a discussion on the article's talkpage with the editor concerned, and if you need more input, drop a note at WT:CRIC. It seems quite trivial, so I'd be inclinded to just let it go. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:12, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lugnuts Thanks for your help.(•‿•) Kirubar (talk) 17:15, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lugnuts I started a discussion in WikiProject Cricket Match delay by wet outfield and went with that as this and this. But again they stands like this. Definitely I know, on that day Launceston got rain and by that only it got wet outfield, but they did treat it like Sharjah Sandstorm which is place-specific. Shall I leave with their citations? Or else what to do? Kirubar (talk) 12:16, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - I'll take a look later. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:18, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Kirubar I saw your recent edit(s) on Tamil Nadu Premier League, that reverted my edits, rearranging teams based on brand value. You said (brand value is not important) in your edit summary. Then how will you arrange the teams, can you explain? On which basis did you arranged the teams in table? If it is random it may looks like partiality among the teams. Domestic cricket[edit]

Hi. Thanks for your help on the domestic cricket - I'm happy to continue with the updates for Sri Lanka, South Africa and New Zealand. One thing that will need starting and work done is the fixtures, etc, for each group for the 2021–22 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Do you have time to sort that out? Thanks again! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 09:01, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lugnuts Little overdose from me.(•‿•) Sorry for that, I didn't want to get limited because I can't do edits as consistently as you are, but I'll try to do. That's why I am biting all the pages. Hereafter, I'll continue with AUS ENG IND and a bit of others like templates, tables. I saw SMAT, but nowhere I found about groupings. But I am working on SMAT Fixtures right now. I'll do that. Thanks :-) Kirubar (talk) 09:23, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lugnuts Hi there, One thing about SMAT, Is it ok to create new distinct templates (points tables) for each groups like previous seasons? Bcoz, IPL Match templates to be stopped as per our WIKIPROJECT discussion. That's why I am asking. Let me know your thoughts. Kirubar (talk) 15:28, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Kyle Jamieson bowling.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Kyle Jamieson bowling.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. Sri Lanka squad[edit]

Why did you suddenly replace my version of the table with yours? I was in the middle of fixing my table then you came and there was a edit conflict. You just provided and went away for 1.5 hours and came back when I started. You also removed the reserve players list too. Asking help from was my mistake. Later seeing nobody put hand, I started adding SL Team for about 10 minutes. I can't see your version as 6beaufo edited in between and also I wasn't reloaded the page. Maybe it was a coincidence. Anyhow the current version looks ok. Always belittling others, maybe my english is at that level. Telling/Correcting it in some other ways might be helpful. 2022-23 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Group D and E[edit]

Can you help in the points table section of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022-23 for Group D and E because no result points is 2 points for the tournament and it is taking in account only 1 point.

I have sent you a note about a page you started[edit]

Whpq Wait what? The AUSTIN South Asian the blog that you mentioned was created on 3 October 2022. But we in Wikipedia, 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup developed the same content way before from the last year progressively. That matter is used in the Finals page. Actually, the blogger is the one who copied all the content from WIKIPEDIA. (Say for example: The venues section was written in November 2021 by Lugnuts and me with ref of ICC and Cricinfo – the same phrasing found in the blog) I don't know why you are claiming like this, the blogger should be ashamed of this, copying from Wikipedia. I am shouting out all the Cricket project members. Bs1jac, Human, Joseph2302, Spike'em, Rugbyfan22 Everybody, they are claiming that I copied from this blog. Austinsouthasian Kirubar (talk) 01:11, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

See this from my talk page. Please be sure to provide attribution next time you copy text within Wikipedia. The licensing requires it, and it helps cut down on mistakes like this. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Whpq (talk) 02:19, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I filled out and added Template:Backwards copy to the talkpages of 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup and 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Final, which tells people that they've copied from Wikipedia (and not the other way round). That should hopefully stop anyone from tagging it as a copyvio again. Joseph2302 (talk) 10:40, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It is pretty common for content to be copied from Wikipedia to elsewhere unfortunately... I see it a lot with associate member events. Bs1jac (talk) 10:53, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@User:Bs1jac It's common as you said. But it's not the other way around. They claimed thay we stole it from the blog, with exact violation. Kirubar (talk) 11:07, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I know and they are clearly wrong. In this instance it seems that they copied from the original page, then they later saw the page for the final which came later. No wrongdoing on your part at all. Bs1jac (talk) 11:33, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@User: Bs1jac Thanks. But we can't blame/suit the blogger. I was worried about the REVIEW process, utter blinded, not even verifying the cited source dates. Kirubar (talk) 11:35, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm Sorry[edit]

Sam Curran had absolutely been awarded the MOTM Award by Ian Bishop by that time. I saw it myself. Anyway, "WTF?" was not meant as an insult for you but rather as a surprise reaction. If you were hurt by my remark, then I sincerely apologise for my language. I won't say anything like this ever again, fellow editor. Hopefully you can forgive me, Kirubar Sir 🙏❤️.
