RfA Nomination[edit]

Hi Terence, I thought it's now time for you to be nominated for adminship. Be sure to accept , and good luck for your RfA! :) - Cheers, Mailer Diablo 11:49, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My RFA[edit]

Thank you for supporting my RFA. I appreciated the show of support and all the kind words. If there's ever anything I can do to help with my new administrator status, please don't hesitate to contact me. --Myles Long 14:27, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Terence. I've created a category for Ambassadors to the UN. As you mentioned this on the AfD for List of ambassadors to the United Nations, I thought you may be interested. And if you feel like helping out in stubbing some of those redlinks, be my guest! :) Proto||type 13:33, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Britney Spears[edit]

Why did you revert my edits on the Britney Spears page? I think they were legit. 70.52.230.176 15:28, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't vandalism and I really don't appreciate your disrespectful tone. It is my decision to remain an anon user so there's no need for me to "create an account" and I have already read the NPOV policy.
My edits: I added the date to her picture, what her husband does, changed a spelling mistake, added a link and added new info on her upcoming perfume that you can find on her website. What is wrong with that? 70.52.230.176 15:39, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What happened to Wikipedia:Assume good faith? I'm not a vandal, have never vandalised and don't appreciate that assumption. Anyway, I reverted. 70.52.230.176 15:51, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Successful RfA[edit]

Thanks for your support and kind words on my recent RfA, which I am pleased to say passed with a final tally of 80/1/1. If you ever need any help, or if I mess something up as an admin, please let me know.

Cactus.man 07:20, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm an admin now!![edit]

Thanks for voting on my RFA and helping me become an admin. The final tally was 108-0-1 (putting me on the WP:100 list). I hope to do my best in upholding the integrity of Wikipedia. Thanks again, Gator (talk) 13:20, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Admin coaching[edit]

Sure, I've reactivated your request now. I haven't had the time to assign coaches since I'm busy in real life and haven't had the chance—however, I should be getting to that by Monday at the latest, if everything goes well. Titoxd(?!? - help us) 05:06, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

All right. Let me talk to them to confirm if they wouldn't mind having an extra trainee and then I'll add you to the list. Titoxd(?!? - help us) 06:01, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry that your Rfa didn't work out, but next time you won't have any trouble. :) --a.n.o.n.y.m t 15:49, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You're a good editor and I too think that your next RFA will be successful. Cheers. PJM 16:10, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ditto PJM. Keep up the good work and you're a shoo-in'! - Wezzo (talk) (ubx) 18:43, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

McDonald's images[edit]

I see you reverted my edit on the McDonald's article where I removed most of the images. I feel that since McDonald's "restaurants"(term used loosely) by design all look pretty much the same there is no need for a dozen images of various eating establishments. My edit makes the page about 380kb, whist your edit makes it nearly 600kb. Many slower computers might not handle the page. --Snafuu 18:55, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RFA failure[edit]

It's a shame that you withdrew your nomination... we can always use more vandal-fighters/task-doers, and you would have been (and hopefully still one day will be) a great one. Good luck getting "coached up"... and drop me a line when you go up for RFA again, will you? Happy editing! Matt Yeager (Talk?) 05:29, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My RFA[edit]

That is a shame[edit]

It is a great shame that you had to withdraw your RfA. If/when you next apply, please inform me (I know it is frowned upon, but this is an exception; you have my permission) and I will definitely support you again. Batmanand | Talk 10:39, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. But I respect your decision and you will always have my support. Good luck for the future and hope you become an admin one day! --Siva1979Talk to me 14:11, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your RFA withdrawal[edit]

I have to admit my support for you was a weak, almost neutral support because of the concerns that some of the other voters raised. I'm glad to see that you intend to continue learning more about adminship through the training program. I'm not an admin myself, but I will also try to keep an eye on you and give you advice along the way. If you keep up the good work, my support in your next RFA might be a Strong Support! --TantalumTelluride 16:21, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have received your message. As I would also like to become an administrator someday, I will also sign up at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Programs/Admin_coaching to learn more even though I am an administrator at five other Wiki Websites, since English Wikipedia is so big that administering it is harder than ever. I have seen your request there in its page history. Best wish to you.--Jusjih 14:52, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Chastity, Truth and Kinopanorama[edit]

I stronly object to your request for the deletion of the above film as a "vanity" entry. This is absolutely ludicrous.

As the film was exhibited commercially in 1997, and is presently being restored with a new print and soundtrack, for a premier in mid-2007 at the Hollywood Cinerama Dome, that alone merits entry.

There are several entries on this film, which may be found in Google. Furthermore, Mr Lasher has been interviewed, and his comments re his participation in the production of the film, recorded.

Lastly, it has been alleged by some on the talk page that I am employed by Fifth Continent Australia Pty Ltd. I do not work for the company or Mr Lasher in any capacity.

ESP_Bar_Keep bot and "spam"[edit]

I just read my console log on the bot and saw early yesterday morning, it received a message from you of "stop spamming me".

It does not "spam" anyone and I do know this for a fact because I coded it myself. If people are using it to send you things (which you can do with the !buy command sent privately to it), then you should go to the person concerned. If they are using it to harass you, then you need to go to me with a log and I will take care of it (although I haven't seen any indication of this in my logs). Also, the command !shut does nothing, and will never work. I don't know what you were expecting it to do. The only commands that it will use are listed on this page. You can't make up commands and expect the bot to do what you want it to do. It cannot read your mind. It only does what I tell it. The bot doesn't randomly do anything, it doesn't bother anyone, it doesn't message/notice anyone when they join and I've made sure it behaves in the channel. If you have a genuine complaint regarding its behaviour, talk to me on my talk page or message me on IRC. Thanks. — File:Ottawa flag.png nathanrdotcom (TCW) 06:24, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My RFA[edit]

Thank you!

Thank you for supporting / opposing / vandalising my RFA! The result was 71/3/0 and so I am now still a normal user / an administrator / indefinitely banned. Your constructive criticism / support / foulmouthed abuse has given me something to think about / helped me immensely / turned me into a nervous wreck. If there's any way I can help you in return, please ask someone else / suffer and die / drop me a line! --Sam Blanning (formerly Malthusian) (talk) 19:47, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #1[edit]

Reach out is a program aimed at allowing users to bring issues that they have had in Wikipedia to a listening, sympathetic and caring audience:
"No one can know how we feel if we do not say. We cannot expect to get understanding if we do not ask for it. No one will dispute that sometimes life's issues are too much for one person. It is fair to say that sometimes Wikipedia's problems fall under the same heading. This is a place where you can bring the bruises that can sometimes be got on this project for attention."
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.
Note from the editor
Welcome to this new format of the Esperanza Newsletter, which came about during the last Advisory Council meeting - we hope you like it! The major changes are that each month, right after the Council meeting, this will be sent out and will include two featured programs and a sum up of the meeting. Also, it will be signed by all of the Advisory Council members, not just Celestianpower. Have an Esperanzial end of March, everyone!
  1. Future meetings are to be held monthly, not fortnightly as before.
  2. Bans and Access level changes (apart from autovoice) in the IRC channel are to be reported at the new log.
  3. In the IRC channel, there is going to be only one bot at a time.
  4. The charter requires members to have 150 edits and 2 weeks editing. Why this is the case will be clarified.
  5. A new Code of Conduct will be drafted by JoanneB and proposed to the Esperanza community.
  6. The NPA reform idea is to be dropped officially.
  7. Charter ammendments are to be discussed in future, not voted on.
  8. The Advisory Council is not going to be proposed to be expanded by the Advisory Council themselves, if others want to propose it, they will listen.
Signed...

Thank you for supporting/opposing/commenting on my request of adminship, sadly the result was 54/20/7 an thus only 73% support votes, resulting in that the nomination failed. RfA Results and Thanks[edit]

I64s/Archive 4, thank you for supporting me in my recent RfA. Although it did not succeed as no consensus was declared (final: 65/29/7), I know that there is always an opportunity to request adminship again. If and when that day comes, I hope you will once again support me. If at any time I make any mistakes or if you would like to comment on my contributions to Wikipedia, you are more than welcome to do so. Regardless of your religious, cultural, and personal beliefs, I pray that whatever and whoever motivates you in life continues to guide you on the most righteous path.

Thank you for supporting my RfA. I’m proud to inform you that it passed with 75 support to 1 oppose to 2 neutral. RE: Do you use IRC?[edit]

Hello! I hope you are feeling fine. As for your recent enquiry, the answer is negative. I do not use IRC. In fact, I have never been in one before! As I currently have a job, I find it hard to find time to use IRC. In fact, I have to squeeze whatever time that is available to me to use Wikipedia! Anyway, If I have a question, I will gladly ask you.

In the meantime, I wish you all the best for your future. I MIGHT be nominating you (if time permits) for adminship sometime in August 2006. I hope by then, you will be prepared to receive the mop and you will always have my support. There are very few Singaporean admins on Wikipedia! --Siva1979Talk to me 14:21, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

After extensive edit warring, article protection, and the statement of the extended version supporting side regarding both the name of the article, and the intro paragraph, a poll has been placed. The brief version supporting side is to keep the name of the article AND the intro paragraph free of the UN name (FYROM). Keep in mind that you can select more than one of the options (8! to the moment) that may suit you. Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #2[edit]

The Barnstar Brigade is a new program aimed at giving more very deserving yet unappreciated users barnstars. It will officially start on 2006-04-09, but signing up is encouraged before this date:
"Here in Wikipedia, there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go un-appreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go un-noticed. Sadly, these editors often leave the project. As Esperanzians, we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. A project the size of Wikipedia has thousands of editors, so there are plenty of people out there who deserve recognition, one just has to find them. The object of this program is not to flood editors with Barnstars, but to seek out people who deserve them, and make them feel appreciated."
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.
Information
Welcome to the second issue of the new format Esperanza Newsletter - we hope you still like it! This week, it was delivered diligently by our new dogsbody. MiszaBot (run by Misza13): any execution complaints should go to him. Content comments should be directed at the Esperanza talkpage. Thanks!
  1. The next elections: Approval voting as before and, also as before, an previous leadership member can run. Please submit your name for voting in the relevant section of this page. Voting starts on 2006-04-23 and ends on 2006-04-30. There will be three places up for grabs as KnowledgeOfSelf is leaving Wikipedia. Please see the previously linked page for full details.
  2. The Code of Conduct is now ready for extensive discussion! Specific comments should go to the Code of Conduct talk page, discussion of having one at all should be directed to the main Esperanza talk page.
  3. The current process for accepting proposals for new programs has been deemed fine. All Advisory Council members and the Admin Gen are to endevour to be bold when viewing discussion. If they feel that consensus has been reached, they will act accordingly.
A plea from the editor...

Jonathan Williams Page Deletion[edit]

Here you go, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Jonathan_Williams_%28pastor%29_%282nd_nomination%29 you said delete last time hopefully this time we can make it stick.

I hate pestering people's talk pages about AFD votes (or votes at all... it's very bad form really) but I've just done a huge amount of work on this article, and it is probably 80% different from when you voted. I have found a large number of English language references, and I have used <cite> so any reader or editor can identify where each individual statement in the article came from. That ought to deal with WP:V and WP:RS. As for notability, you can make your own decision: the relevant guideline says "Usually, books with an ISBN-number and/or availability in a couple dozen of libraries and/or a Project Gutenberg type website, and with a notability above that of an average cookbook or programmers manual would qualify". Which doesn't help really, since it's entirely subjective how you are going to compare notability of a best-selling paranoid gutter-press fantasy to a cookbook! If you rank this as below an average cookbook, I'm not going to argue with you :) TheGrappler 04:12, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
