Blimey, your talk page is getting long!I was just wondering whether to nominate Deacon now, or wait until you're a little less busy? Also, when you contact members on Flickr to ask them if they would change the license for an image, do you ask them in the comment box under the image? - JuneGloom07 Talk? 21:38, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I know, I'll have to archive it at some point. It's starting to get ridiculously long. Again! If you think the article's ready, by all mean nominate it. It could be a few days before I can get round to it (I've currently got my own GAN waiting, 5 open reviews and I'm helping out at 2 FACs!) but there are lots of good reviewers at GAN so it shouldn't be a problem if someone beats me to it. As for Flickr, I copy the URL of the pic and send the note on my subpage via Flickr mail. You have to click on the name of the uploader, then go to their profile and click the envelope to send them a message. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:54, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for that. I just have to work out what category to place the nomination under. I know I asked at GAN, but I've completely forgotten what the answer was! What article have you got waiting? Btw, I have my first DYK! It's sitting on the main page now. :) - JuneGloom07 Talk? 22:21, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
Nice. I just wandered over to the MP to see it! My suggestion would be to put it under misc and leave a note on WT:GAN. Maybe one of the other regulars will find a place for it. Oh, and I've got Lindsay Lohan waiting. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:30, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
I've just had a quick look through the archives at the GAN discussion page and found my question about where I should place Deacon's nom. One editor suggested either Art or Business, but I think I'm going to take your advice and place it under Misc. Hopefully it won't be too much work, once the review starts. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 23:22, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
Damn, just had a look at the views for Portrait of Angel Fernandez de Soto while it was on the MP and it got 4000. Only 1000 more and I could have put it on the WP:DYKSTATS list. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 00:51, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Unlucky! It's not that big a deal, though- I have 6 DYK credits (+1 nom that I didn't write) and I don't think any of them got 5k views while they were up. 4k is pretty impressive for DYK anyway. Speaking of stats, check this out! Misc is probably the best place to put it since "art" is a bit to vague imho. I might raise that on the talk page at some point. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 01:12, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
I was wondering if you would have a quick look at The Princess and the Frog and let me know if you think it can be brought up to GA status and what it's big problems are. Oh, I found a userbox for you; {{User:RadicalOne/UBX Design/EditPatrol}}. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 23:38, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
Speaking of DYK views, I've got 10 written, and 4 noms, and my highest view count is 3,300; so 4k is pretty good. (Then again, several of my DYK's were of the "Did you care?" variety that DYK gets lampooned for!) For Giles Deacon, the first thing I'd tell you to do if I opened that GA review would be to pick a date format and stick with it- your citations are all over the map in their dates. Princess could be a GA with a solid few days of work, but it's not there right now. Bradjamesbrown (talk) 23:57, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
Are you stalking HJ's talk page? Lol. I am quite proud that my first DYK got that many views. I'll correct the dates in Deacon's article now, since I'm not doing anthing. If you're willing to take the GA review on, I would be very grateful. :) - JuneGloom07 Talk? 00:25, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
Nice if you both to drop by! I like that userbox, I'll have to have it (not that I don't have enough already!). Princess is certainly a GA in the making- it looks a lot better than Inglourious Basterds did. I suggest you spend a few days working on it- find all the information you can and make any improvements you spot (you could ask 5 albert square if she'll run it over with AWB) and then at least you won't get any nasty surprises at the review. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 02:38, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
HJ, could you take a look at the ITN candidacy for the Nanping school stabbings? I've got that article refed, but it needs a quick copyedit, and I'm in one of those places where I'm blind to faults in my own writing tonight. Bradjamesbrown (talk) 02:45, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
Done. I've been through and made some minor tweaks. I also added section headings, though feel free to take them out if you don't think they add anything. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 03:18, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! The section headers are good; I was struggling with the "wall of text" problem with the middle paragraph. The article looks a lot better now. Bradjamesbrown (talk) 03:25, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
Hey HJ. I was just wondering if someone can have more than one article nominated at DYK? I created my tenth article a few minutes ago, Modern Rome - Campo Vaccino, and would like to nominate a fact from it, but I already have another article over there. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 00:59, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Ignore that, you can have more than one nomination at the same time. I think the fact about the painting will have more of a chance of making the main page, then the one about an episode of Ugly Betty. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 01:23, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
June, I remember seeing twenty-six articles in the same hook before! Don't worry about multiple nominations at DYK- nominate as fast as you can write. Bradjamesbrown (talk) 01:31, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Thank you Brad! HJ, this might come in handy for when you get round to the Michael Landy article. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 14:13, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Oooh, thank you! Landy is high on my to do list so hopefully I'll get round to him soon. I know nothing about art, but he's an interesting guy and I think he deserves a decent article. Trouble is, I've lost track of how many times my sig appears on WP:GAN and I've got Lily Cole up for PR, not to mention the 2 FACs I'm helping! I got distracted by Sir James Black the other day and got my 12th ITN for him. I reckon there's a potential future GA there, but I'll have to get it checked by someone who knows what they're talking about (I just scraped a C in GCSE chemistry and that was a few years ago!) first! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:39, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Okay, I've just seen this poem and wow, that vandal has waaaaaay too much time on his hands. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 17:49, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
That's hilarious! That's the second funniest bit of vandalism I've ever seen! If someone wrote that for me, I;d stick it on my userpage! It's a shame that people like J.delanoy, Rodhullandemu and The Thing That Should Not Be get hassle like that- I think between the three of them, they must account for about half of all reverts made on enwiki (except the vandalism that crops up on my watchlist- I get almost all of that!). Ah well, some people have way to much time on their hands and nothing useful to contribute. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:00, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Some has agreed to change the license of an image of Giles on Flickr. It's not the best image in the world and it also happens to have Henry Holland in it, but it's free! Question is, what do I do next? How do I get it uploaded to the article (and maybe crop out Henry)? - JuneGloom07 Talk? 23:24, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Give me the URL, and I'll put it on Commons and crop it for you. I need to do some image work tonight anyway. If I get through HMS Princess Royal's GAN tonight, I'll take a look at Deacon, as well. Bradjamesbrown (talk) 23:46, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, the easiest way to do it is to upload it to commons, who have a dedicated form for it. You'd have to upload the image, the whole image and nothing but the image (so help me god!) first and then think about cropping it. Do you have unified account (ie do you have the same username on Commons and all the other WMF projects)? If not, just create one there. You'll need to download the image to your computer the reupload it to commons via this form. It's quite simple really, but let me know if you get stuck. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 11:26, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Actually, there's an easier way than that, but it requires an account on the toolserver. It's here, and a bot will do most of the work transferring over the license for you. Type, press a button, and press another button- you never have to download and upload the file )which can be a pain if the file is high resolution). You can then overwrite the file on Commons with the cropped version, and the licensing history will be fully preserved. (However, if you've never logged into Commons before, this will be the stumbling block- only autoconfirmed users can overwrite images over there.) Bradjamesbrown (talk) 12:04, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
Cheers. I don't have an account on Toolserver but I suppose I could create one. I'm always hesitant to overwrite images since you never know what they might be useful for in future. June, What's the image? I had a browse on Flickr and the only CC images I could find were tagged as "non-commercial" which means they can't be used on WP. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 12:39, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
Good God, your talk page has been archived. :P I've only just seen both of your replies, was trying to deal with the Paloma Faith Tour deletion discussion and work out whether to open a sock puppet report (which I've just done) last night. The image hasn't had its license changed yet as I saw the message late. The user wanted to know which one to change, since there are two images with the same name. I will let you know when it's been done. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 15:51, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
Fair enough, are you OK uploading it to commons or do you want me to do it? I decided to archive it since it was getting so bloody long I couldn't find anything! I've been working on Lily Cole but I'm going to have to do something else in a minute. As pretty as she is, I need a change of scenery before I get burnout! Speaking of Lily, Parnassus is out on DVD tommorow! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:17, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
I'll probably ask you or Brad, which ever one of you is around at the time, to upload the image if you don't mind. I've been watching your work on Lily this weekend, the article is looking very good. I haven't seen Parnassus yet, once I've got a few other things sorted, I'll get round to watching it. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 17:08, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
OK, well I'll be around for another couple of hours if you want me. I'll probably just be hovering on my watchlist for most of it. The article looks good at a glance but it needs a really thorough copyedit and it has that annoying tendency to just list her achievements. Ah well, I'm in no rush to get her to FA, but it would be nice to do one day. You should see Parnassus. It's the best film I've seen in a long time! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:59, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
Christ, I thought your page had been vandalized when I that edit summary. Happy Wiki Birthday! I see that FA star on your user page too, now I want one. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 23:19, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
I was a little bit excited! Thank you. It's strange seeing the silver badge there since the old one has been there since not long after I was entitled to it! I like the FA star but I'm determined to get that top row ridiculously long with FAs, GAs, DYKs and ITNs. Yours will come soon enough, I'm sure. Parnassus is out on DVD today so if my pre-ordered copy has arrived, I won't be on for a few hours! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 09:48, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
You're right about my FA star coming soon enough, I'm going to nominate this list for WP:FL. I've just changed and edited the table and infobox, so all that remains to do is edit the lead and maybe try to find a suitable image. I can't seem to find a free one of anyone holding an award though. :( - JuneGloom07 Talk? 21:11, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Have fun with that. FL is not an area I know much about. You can try the Flickr begging again- someone hit the jackpot on a gorgeous pic of Pixie Lott! I was about to tag it as a copyvio before I checked the author out! I'm watching Parnassus (again!) and hovering on my watchlist atm but I should probably do something useful like write an article! Maybe I could make a dent in my (still massive) to-do list... Btw, didi you have any joy with that pic of Deacon? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:18, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. I want an image like the one in the WALL-E list. Though I do wonder if I can use the image of Christoph Waltz, since he's won the majority of the awards. That is a nice pic of Pixie, I want one of those for Paloma Faith! I don't think the guy has changed the Deacon license yet, but I'm sure he'll get round to it soon. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 21:30, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Btw, I've found the editor who keeps adding the Facebook group info to the The Bill - [1]. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 21:34, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Not as good a some of the ones elsewhere, but even if they were free, they're probably not appropriate for WP! I'll see if I can find you one for Paloma next time I'm trawling through Flickr- it's a bit like WP- there's a lot of shot on there but you'd be amazed at how good some of the stuff is and how easily some authors can be persuaded to freely licence their work! That is a good pic in the Wall-E list, you'd have to go some to find one like that, but you might get lucky. As for the facebook group, I'd like to include it but, alas, verifiability is more important than truth. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:41, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Just found this, I don't know if the website is reliable though. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 21:46, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the thought! Someone beat me to it and added it in. It's not the most reliable as sources go, but it's not Facebook or a blog so it'll do, for now at least. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:02, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
I think the Goat already has a reviewer (yes, I am stalking your edits). Btw, do you think it's worth me mentioning on the GAN talk page that there isn't a suitable category for fashion designers? - JuneGloom07 Talk? 22:08, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
I've started a discussion about where to place nominations for fashion designers at WT:GAN. You might wish to comment if you decide to take on the Deacon review, as you could have trouble finding a category to place him in if the article passes. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 21:51, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
The Giles image has had it's license changed on flickr now. I can't remember if you or Brad wanted to upload and crop it though. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 00:11, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Well I'm happy either way. If Brad wants to do it, he's more than welcome but I'm quite happy to do it. It should only take 5 minutes. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:19, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
If you want to do it, then Giles is the one on the left. Though once you've cropped it, do you think the other half can go in Henry Holland's article (I want to expand that beyond a stub eventually)? - JuneGloom07 Talk? 00:27, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Way ahead of you! Image, in its original form, is on commons as File:Giles Deacon.jpg. If you have a Commons account, I'd appreciate it if you'd pad out the "description" bit but if not, I'll do it later. Now, forgive my ignorance, but which one is Deacon? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:30, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Oops, you have the wrong image, it's the one I linked to above. The one you've uploaded hasn't had it's license changed. Deacon is on the left, btw. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 00:38, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

ITN for James W. Black

Current events globe On 26 March 2010, In the news was updated with a news item that involved the article James W. Black, which you recently nominated and substantially updated. If you know of another interesting news item involving a recently created or updated article, then please suggest it on the candidates page.

Nice work, many thanks - Dumelow (talk) 09:09, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

Copy-edit help

I've got a peer review going for the article Climax Series, which I hope to nominate at WP:FAC sometime in the near future. I thought it was getting close, but someone at PR called the article's prose "poor". Obviously, as the primary writer, I disagree with this opinion, but what do I know? I'd really appreciate either opinions, suggestions and/or a full copy edit. Whatever you have time for! Thanks --TorsodogTalk 16:33, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Contesting GA status

You mentioned that you were taking the discussion to a community.[2] Have you done this? Please provide a link. Thanks, Piano non troppo (talk) 01:34, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

It's at Wikipedia:Good article reassessment/Paparazzi (Lady Gaga song)/2 but you've already been there. Te result of that discussion will determine whether or not it remains listed as a GA. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 06:21, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi HJ

Just to let you know that we seem to have had our first bout of vandalism which seems to be related to the programmes axing.

I keep having to tell people off on it for not keeping a neutral opinion! --5 albert square (talk) 22:57, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

I'm not surprised. I think the best thing to do is operate a policy of only reverting vandalism for a few days- let things quiet down and once it drops of the headlines, we can go through and copyedit, cleanup, source or whatever but if you do it now, it'll only be back in ten minutes and many of the edits are at least well intentioned. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 11:26, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm not surprised either and I think that the vandalism has been relatively low. I'm still keeping an eye on it but as yet I've not seen anything that warrants the attention of WP:RFPP. I've not been warning people as I understand that they are upset, and I wouldn't intend on warning them unless their vandalism was really bad. For those that haven't edited before or haven't edited for very long I've just been placing the welcome vandal template on their talk page. I think vandalism will be bad though around the time that it finishes filming and it finishes airing, particularly on the last day of filming and the day the last episode is aired. I'm still gutted that it's finishing, I've even joined a Facebook page about it's axing and signed a petition in the hope ITV change their mind! Personally I'm hoping that another network will buy the rights to it. If I remember correctly from when I was carrying out work to get it to GA status, it was initially offered to the BBC, wonder if they're now interested in it? I might actually write to some of the cast members to offer my support as I really do feel for them. They've just been shoved into the same potential redundancy boat that I was shoved into a couple of weeks ago :( --5 albert square (talk) 12:58, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
Not great times, really! Tbh, I'd be surprised if anyone else picks it up. From what I've read, the ratings have been slipping for years and the move to 9pm last year was a kind of last attempt to boost them. As for the article, like I say, it's probably best to tidy up in a day or 2 when it drops off the front pages. I'll only revert vandalism until then- many of them are trying to help and at least it'll be kept up to date (I'm far too busy atm to be constantly maintaining it). Btw, don't worry about Lily any more- I had to fix other things in the refs so I've done most of them now! I've got her up for peer review since I've decided I'd like to go to FAC one day. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 13:08, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
OK, no worries, one of the admins actually posted on my talk page saying that would be a hard thing to do using AWB :) --5 albert square (talk) 13:16, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
Hi, just to let you know, the info that the anon IP is trying to add, the social networking site is Facebook but unfortunately Facebook links are banned by User: XLinkBot so we can't use it! --5 albert square (talk) 21:34, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
I know. But wht they're adding is, unfortunately, unsourceable. I might go and join the group later. If I can be bothered! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:41, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Yep, I'm a member of it! I've placed something on the talk page of The Bill to make people aware because all that'll happen if they place links like that is XLinkBot will come along and undo all the edits and issue it's form of warning to the user. Then we end up with users banned :( --5 albert square (talk) 21:45, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

I don't understand the suggestion that you left about how to change the article. Please clarify. My full response is on the GA review page. // Gbern3 (talk) 11:17, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

OK, no worries, I'll have a look. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 11:26, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Pitt

I know, I'm so glad it was promoted. When I saw the bot do an update on the FAC, I was worried. When I clicked on the page, I saw that it said that User:Karanacs promoted the article, which I was really happy about. You should of seen me jump up-and-down; I was so thrilled, and I'm glad another "piece of my work" is being recognized. At the same time, I owe it all to you and Turian, and the many copy-editors, for a job well-done. :) My next FA project? Well, I'm gonna do "heavy" research on Peter Sarsgaard, Tina Fey, Jon Hamm, and Eric McCormack. After what was brought up about how Pitt got his roles or what was his decision, I think I'll have to do this for these articles. Thank you, I'll consider your help a great asset. ;) P.S. Thank you very much for that award. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 17:20, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Well, you don't know how grateful I am because of your help with Pitt reaching FA status... you just don't know. ;) Kind of. Like in the first FAC, I felt insulted by Tony's comments. It's a lot to criticize the work someone does on an article, you know. Oh well, I'm letting the past be the past. :) It won't be a hassle, like for Sarsgaard I can look for info. regarding his casting in Boys Don't Cry and stuff. Fey's won't be a problem, I believe I have everything in tact in her article. At the moment I'm trying to expand more info. on Hamm's article, and with McCormack I got to do a bit more work on it. Overall, I think one of those articles can be my next FAC project. BTW, here's something from me to you:
The Working Man's Barnstar
For your tireless mission in ensuring that Brad Pitt's article was well-written, and with the goal that the article be a Featured article. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 20:18, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
I hope you enjoy it. :) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 20:18, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
You should be. ;) I will, you'll definitely hear from me. Yeah, you know, he's like kind of rude. Sure, he's respect around here, but I mean have some respect to those trying to be respect here, you know. Yeah, I took his comments very hard, it made me feel bad about my editing, like they were useless. I guess, but still, you know. I would like to be respected, and in return me respect you and stuff. Let's see how the next time pans out. Anyways, I'll leave some comments tomorrow on Cole's PR, at the moment I have to deal with whatever occurs today, so. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 22:48, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
Sure, what article is it? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 17:33, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Just so that you and I don't get in trouble, you might want to add at the GAN page that you are seeking a second opinion, which of course is what you're asking me to do. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 18:17, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Done, though, I hope you don't mind that raised some concerns with some stuff in the article. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 19:25, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Sure, you know, just assuming good faith and stuff. The user has seven days to get your concerns, if not, you either have the choice of failing the article, or giving the user extra days to complete the review... just so you know. Yeah, let's just see how this plays out. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 20:19, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Hey, that's your decision about the article. If you felt as though it resembled the past review, then that's fine. I probably would have done the same. I've failed seven articles in my GA reviewer career, either because no one got my concerns, or I just felt that it wasn't GA material. Hey, no problem. If you ever need "help" with anything, just let me know, so I can be of service. :) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 20:56, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I can do a review for Lohan, enjoyed her in Mean Girls, though it would have to wait after I do reviews for Franck Ribéry and Kevin Bieksa, which I just signed up for. I received four "medals" for my part on reviewing articles. :) Sorry, I just had to mention that. Oh no, I'm becoming narcissistic. But yeah, I can do it. You're welcome, just repaying a friend a favour, and yeah "Nappytabs" is a weird name. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 21:35, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
When I was going through the article, I was like 'Damn, half these words or names don't make sense', but that's the beauty of it, someone comes up with some weird name or whatever, and bam it's their thing. Alright, cool then. :) I don't mind. Like I told you, I started working on Jon Hamm's article because he was [still is] the most handsomest thing in the planet. ;) Wow, I'm so bad. Yeah, I've been trying to do my part, so that someone can review my nominations. Yeah, "soccer", and hockey, which I enjoy playing the latter a lot. OMG, I love April Fool's Day, the best. :P --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 22:12, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

I listed a couple refs over at my talk page that need expanding, and I'll copy-edit the article over the next couple days (I have to print articles out to really critically read them... and I can't copy-edit my own writing worth farthing either.) Bradjamesbrown (talk) 22:23, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

BTW, I think you're about at the point where a second RfA from you would be reacted to like Polergo's second is going, but do you really want the hassle? Bradjamesbrown (talk) 22:24, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi HJ

Stalking your talk page too!

Could you do me a favour please? Pretty please?

Could you please give Dot Branning a copy edit? I'm thinking that the article may get re-nominated for GA soon, it failed on a couple of silly minor things last time. I'd rather get an experienced copy editor to copy edit it first of all though and you are one of the best copy editors! --5 albert square (talk) 23:10, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Ah, flattery will get you... everywhere, actually! Lol! I'll have a look, but it's gone midnight so it won't be til the morning. Who was the reviewer (out of idle curiosity more than anything!)? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:22, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
Ah yes it was User: bwmcmaste. It only failed on a couple of things like references and it wasn't even put on hold. Thank god that user never came across The Bill's GA review! --5 albert square (talk) 00:36, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Hmm, not somebody I know. Anyway, don't think too little of them, there's no obligation to put an article on hold (I failed one yesterday without a formal "hold" period) and there are 400 articles waiting to be reviewed and only a handful of active reviewers, so we can't spend ages on each review or the backlog would double in size every week. Now, do you want me to copyedit it or do you want me to review it? Either works for me, but I can't do both without appearing "involved". HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:41, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
5 albert, if HJ does the copyedit, feel free to hit my talk page to jump tot he top of the queue in reviews; I saw the comment about the last one taking three months to get done. Bradjamesbrown (talk) 01:08, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
HJ, yes I know there's not, I think it's more the fact that the article was waiting 3 months to get done and then it was quickly failed in a matter of seconds.
Bradjamesbrown, thanks for the offer, I might just take you up on that! I've offered my services as GA reviewer to one of the admins involved, if nobody else nominates the article again though within the next couple of days I might just nominate it myself and drop you a line if that's ok :) --5 albert square (talk) 01:21, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
OK, my talk page just got very busy! I'm not used to edit conflicts on my own talk page! It's usually fairly quiet here! Since you don't seem to be short of reviewers, I'll do the copyediting. After I've had some sleep! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 01:50, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks HJ :) --5 albert square (talk) 20:06, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

It's the right one according to this. Either way, the two were almost identical and the one I uploaded is useable (in licensing terms). I did a google image search to find out which one he was. I'm nto entirely happy with my cropping, so I'll be back on commons for the next few minutes! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:58, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
June, the first one you linked is licensed for non-commercial use only. In WP terms that would make it fair-use, so HJ pulled the right image. HJ, re-do the transfer from Flickr to Commons, by starting with the full size, 800 px wide version here, and you'll get better results. Bradjamesbrown (talk) 01:06, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

  • ARGH! Busy talk page! Not good! Right, Thanks Brad, I've uploaded the full res version and cropped from that and overwritten the old one. Hey, I think I've corrected all of the problems you listed with the article in it's GA review, could you check the article to see if you have any more concerns? Thanks, Crystal Clear x3 [talk] 16:22, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the review. I have already started making changes and will continue to add data to it in the next couple days. If you are interested in reading about or reviewing other Medal of Honor recipients, all of the ones I have submitted reviews on are recipients of the medal. --Kumioko (talk) 18:58, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Normally, it's not an area in which I have a great interest, but I might well take a look at some of your others. I've got another few GANs on at the minute with the clearance going on, but I've got 2 that should pass easily so I'll be free in an hour or two. There's nothing major on McGinnis, so let me know when you're done, not that there's any rush. HJ Mitchell | April Fool! 19:05, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, I think Daniel J. Callaghan and Powhatan Beaty are relatively easy wins. --Kumioko (talk) 19:53, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
OK, welcome to the top of my to-do list! Unfortunately, it's very long, so I might not be very swift at getting round to them! HJ Mitchell | April Fool! 20:01, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
No rush, most of them have been there for weeks so their not going anywhere. --Kumioko (talk) 20:05, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the reviews. I think I fixed all the items you mentioned on ross McGinnis but if you see anything else please let me know. --Kumioko (talk) 03:19, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Sorry to hound you, I got a lot of things out at the moment (5 GA's, 1 FL, 1 FA, and 1 A plus a couple GA reviews) and Im trying to wrap some up. Have you had a chance to take a look at this one yet to see if I covered all your concerns? --Kumioko (talk) 18:18, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Charles Abbott, 1st Baron Tenterden

Just saw it; thanks kindly! I do a lot of law work at the moment, particularly around tort and legal history (hence my FAs for William Garrow, Gray's Inn, Norman Birkett and the Court of Chancery). Are you a lawyer of some sort yourself? Ironholds (talk) 19:47, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Law student (well, taking a year out, but close enough!). Yourself? I've seen your nominations at GAN- I know a few of the tort cases you've done and keep meaning to take one on, but I'm either beaten to it or something else comes up! I might get back into law editing at some point, but there seem to be so few specialists in English Law and I'm not much good at writing law cases! I started out here with a few crappy stubs and most of them are, to this day, crappy stubs! I'll probably do one of your other GANs later! HJ Mitchell | April Fool! 20:01, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Ooh, where did you study? Law student at the moment; as it happens, I can't stand tort, but I'm a pedantic little bugger (INTP). I much prefer public and constitutional law, along with European law (which reminds me, our article on the preliminary referencing procedure makes baby jesus cry. Must fix). There are five specialists that I know of, along with one Scots editor (AGK); we're an underrepresented little bunch. At the moment it's the concept articles that need expanding, not the cases; we don't even have an article on the English tort of nuisance, which is simply appalling. Anyway, thanks for your review(s); I hope to see you editing law articles soon :P. Ironholds (talk) 20:20, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Interesting, I appear to be in the lead! Not that that's the (only) reason I'm reviewing your articles! Lincoln (which, according to our disambiguation is some old American bloke!). Tort's not bad- negligence (though boring) is easy and occupier's liability has its moments but I prefer criminal law- ABH, GBH, wounding etc. Our coverage is surprisingly good. I've just done Lloyd Kenyon, 1st Baron Kenyon for you btw! HJ Mitchell | April Fool! 20:47, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks kindly! I wrote Insanity in English law a while back, and that's now a GA - about as close as I get to criminal law. Ironholds (talk) 20:52, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

GA reviews

Hey. I saw that you did a good deal of GA reviews today, which is very nice. However, I'm wondering if you're working on clearing the backlog perhaps too quickly. You are noting concerns, but some of them that you're noting should be dealt with at the GA level rather than FA as you say. Take Talk:Chloë Sevigny/GA2 for example. 3 of 5 images being fair use is a violation, and at best they either should've been removed, or you putting it on hold until they remove themselves or explain a rationale for keeping them. For the most part you're doing fine; basically I'm just saying don't be afraid to leave it on hold for a few minor issues. It's better that it's an undisputed GA than it's a rushed through GA. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 23:57, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for dropping in. I did ten (just finished the tenth and was about to log it). I take your point on Sevigny, though I have the article watchlisted and have every intention to follow up on the removal and/or deletion of those images and do it myself if it wasn't done within a day or 2. I can assure you they're not being rushed through though, I've done 10 in about 11 hours and I've given each one my full attention before moving on to the next and I've just spent over 2 hours on number 10, mainly due to the controversy of the subject matter. Although some reviews have been opened and closed in one edit, it's because I've scrutinised the article and made points as I go along before saving the review page. I've also got two on hold from today (and another two from before the drive). I will bear your advice in mind, though, and thanks for taking the time to post here! Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 01:07, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Wizardman, regarding the permissible free/fair-use image ratio in an article, would you mind clarifying what is considered a violation per WP guidelines? I could not find any such limitations on the number of fair use images, but I might have been looking in a wrong place. Themes in Avatar, which is currently nominated for GA, has got 5 fair use images out of 13, and if this needs to be fixed, I would like to do it before the GA review. Regards, Cinosaur (talk) 03:36, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
The place you want to look is WP:NFCC, oparticualrly criteria 3a and 8- to summarise, fair use images should be kept to the very minimum and only used when no free alternative could possibly be found. If you;lre lucky, you might get away with one FU image but vertainly not 3 and in an article about a living and still active individual. You could try trawling through Flickr and asking some authors there if they'd release their work so you can replace the images, but at least 2 of them need to go. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:12, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Round II?

Hey HJ Mitchell. Just wanted to let you know that I've been following your contribs for quite some time now - and well, I must say, I like what I see. I'm not sure if you'd be interested in a round II (it's about time anyways) anytime soon but I thought I might call dibbs on the nom - if that's alright with you.

I think Wikipedia's administrative team would greatly benefit with you as a sysop. Please consider it. All the best, FASTILYsock(TALK) 00:55, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Wow! I'm honoured. Really. That's a huge surprise. Thanks Fastily. I will certainly take you up on your offer, but perhaps not just yet. I'm a little busy at the minute and when I'm back at my normal computer I'd like to get back to helping clear the GAN backlog but if it suits you, I'll be willing to stand in early May when, hopefully, things will be a bit calmer on wiki and in the "real world"! Thanks for making my day, anyway! I really am flattered. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 13:26, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

I wouldn't mind co-noming either. Of course, since I supported (albeit with reservations) last time, it might mean nothing coming from me. Bradjamesbrown (talk) 16:56, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Nobel Prize Peer review

Hello! I found you on the volunteer list for Peer review. I have just nominated the Nobel Prize for Peer review and I thought your description seemed like the person that would be perfect in reviewing the Nobel Prize article. It has some problems with prose etc and is written in British English. Would you like be able to help me?

Thank you for your time Esuzu (talkcontribs) 21:46, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

I will do my best to get to it, but I'm probably not the best person if you're in a rush. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:04, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Well I'm not in a rush in that sense :) But I would appriciate all the help I can get, however small it might be. Thank you! --Esuzu (talkcontribs) 00:42, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
OK, I should be able to get to it next week and I'll be able to spend some time on it. I can comment in the peer review later on and then I'll so what I can do with the prose when I have time! Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:13, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
Sounds great, looking forward to working with you :) Cheers Esuzu (talkcontribs) 15:41, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

GA Review for Speed Demon (song)

Hey, I've addressed almost all of the concerns you listed with the article in it's GA review; the only problem that remains is that I do not know how to upload an audio sample, do you know of any editors I can ask to upload an audio sample of the song for me? Thanks, Crystal Clear x3 [talk] 23:25, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

I'd try User:Ipodnano05, User:Liquidluck or User:Legolas2186- I know they frequently write articles on song articles. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:37, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

I've put infomation back on about the above DVD's at The Bill#DVD_and_VHS_releases, could someone please put them in the Infobox. My reference is in my edit summary made on 1st April. --kathleen wright5 (talk) 09:28, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Done. Must have missed that on my watchlist with all the edits going on on the article at the minute! Thanks, though. I've formatted it all for you. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:25, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Interesting. Should you tell them that the image is not for an ITN which is below the ITN which had the previous image or would that be too complicated? --candlewicke 01:45, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

I think that's probably a little overcomplicated. I'm hoping we can attract more admins to ITN by proving that it's not as complicated as people think it is! After all, I've only included the image as something else to consider and one the regular admins can either add the image or replace/fix it later. I'd rather they put a blurb up without doing anything to the image than be put off putting anything up at all because of some technicality! What do you think? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 12:28, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
You're right. It would be much too complicated and we don't want to destroy their fragile minds. :D --candlewicke 19:56, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
*Fragile*   Cargoking  talk  22:27, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes, fragile! lol! I was going for the simplest possible approach- the less important stuff can be dealt with later, but we need more admins to update the template so the simpler we make it for them, the more likely they are to do it or to come back!
