@HammeroftheGods27

This is a long shot but I could use help getting my old band on Wikipedia. Here's a link to what I've started but hit a wall right out of the gate. Draft:Stalker (band)

Here are some other links that confirm our existence

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGxOfEvQC75I8Ig3VjxLyHA https://www.discogs.com/artist/4885194-Stalker-Nj https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Stalker_-_Trip.ogg https://heavyharmonies.com/cgi-bin/glamcd.cgi?BandNum=8357&CDName=Peyote+Picnic https://www.facebook.com/rockoftheages.ny.nj.pa/posts/979109155824982

Any help would be great.

A Wikipedia article about a band must do more than confirm the existence of the band. It must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the band, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of a notable band. If your band does not meet at least one of the listed criteria, and/or there are insufficient independent reliable sources, it would not merit an article at this time.
Please also review conflict of interest. If you just want to tell the world about the band, you should use social media or other forum where that is permitted. 331dot (talk) 16:15, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Help me![edit]

Please help me with... @331dot - I feel we meet these criteria as I've seen others that are on Wikipedia GoodTimeGypsy (talk) 00:24, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I had to gut Draft:Stalker (band) due to copyright issues[edit]

The content was previously published at https://www.discogs.com/Stalker-Nj-Unreleased-Tracks/release/8120273. I gutted it except for one paragraph that didn't appear to be copied from any source I could find and the URLs. The previous page history will be revision-deleted by an administrator shortly.

If you own the legal rights to that content, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.

However, if the goal is to have a Wikipedia article about the band, there is an issue that may be insurmountable: "Notability." Wikipedia only covers topics that have received in-depth coverage, also called significant coverage, from reliable sources that are independent of the topic being covered. This means promotional materials, promotional interviews, etc. don't "count" when assessing "notability."

I recommend reading WP:Your first article, WP:Notability, and WP:Notability (music) before pursuing this further.

If you do pursue it further, please read the policies and guidelines listed at WP:Policies and guidelines, paying particular attention to anything related to notability, copyright, biographies of living persons, citing sources, and the concept of "neutral point of view." davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 🎄 02:19, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Stalker (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://web.archive.org/web/20201230015851/https://www.discogs.com/Stalker-Nj-Unreleased-Tracks/release/8120273. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 🎄 20:13, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem: Draft:Stalker (band)[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Draft:Stalker (band), but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images from either web sites or printed works. This article appears to contain work copied from https://web.archive.org/web/20201230015851/https://www.discogs.com/Stalker-Nj-Unreleased-Tracks/release/8120273, and therefore to constitute a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policies. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators are liable to be blocked from editing.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under license allowed by Wikipedia, then you should do one of the following:

It may also be necessary for the text to be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

See Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries for a template of the permissions letter the copyright holder is expected to send.

If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Draft talk:Stalker (band) saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved.

Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing!

Note that you need to follow all the steps in either bullet-point 1, bullet-point 2, or bullet point 3. You have started the process by explaining the details on Draft talk:Stalker (band). If you have not done so already, please follow the rest of the steps in that bullet-point. Alternatively, you can follow all of the steps in bullet-point 2 or all of the steps in bullet-point 3.

Donating the material does not guarantee that it will be acceptable "as-is" into Wikipedia. The band itself must be "notable" - see Wikipedia:Notability and Wikipedia:Notability (music) for details. Also, the draft must be written in an encyclopedic, neutral tone. See Wikipedia:Your first article for more details. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 🎄 01:51, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
