Height of footballers

So sad that this has to be typed out, but ah well... 'He usually plays at hooker' is a statement of fact. 'His position of choice is hooker' is a statement about a person's preference/opinion. One is supported by reliable, third party sources and one is not. It's clear you're quite new here. You've got an awful lot to learn. Test team lineups
Hi Jeff, for the Test team line-ups on that 1910 GB RL tour of Australia article, you might want to consider the horizontal small font team lineups like we've use on the Wallaby tour articles. Always handy when there are a number of Tests and line-ups to fit into a tour article and fits well if you're putting in any match reports of individual Tests. - Hey. Yeah I went for something similar when I worked on 2008 Rugby League World Cup matches. But I dunno, I guess I just like the way the vertical teams have players of a position lined up against one another for immediate comparison. Although I know what you mean, and I think they only really work when they don't stretch past the text beside them. I guess I'm hoping that (unlikely as it is) that the old Kangaroo tour tests someday will be similarly filled with prose to fix that big, empty, white space issue.--Jeff79 (talk) 13:32, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

AMNRL Representative team
The USA Tomahawks are an AMNRL rep team as you can see here http://www.amnrl.com/teams/usa-tomahawks they do not represent the United States they represent the AMNRL. Tell me, if they represent the United States then all rugby league players from either the USA Rugby League or the AMNRL will be considered for selection! http://www.amnrl.com/news/usa-tomahawks-squad-colonial-cup the squad named only features players from the AMNRL. Captain Apple Pope was supposed to play for the Delaware Vipers and is listed as playing for Flordia http://www.rugbyleagueinternationalscores.com/index.php/2011/08/tomahawks-the-breakdown/ I mean cmon at the start of the season the AMNRL are calling themselves real rugby league, real players and real teams and they have a supposed South East expansion conference http://www.amnrl.com/news/tomahawks-train-squad this team does not represent the United States they represent the AMNRL they are not a rugby league team, they are an AMNRL team. - Which would be perfectly fine in an article about Pint Size (the book). However, the article is about Andy Gregory, not the book. Hi Jeff. I've reverted your changes that used Category:Rugby league players by French club instead of Category:Rugby league players in France by club. The latter is the correct format as you can see at Category:Rugby league players by club but also at Category:Association football players by club. I have also requested the deletion of Category:Rugby league players by French club since it's now empty. If you disagree, feel free to nominate Category:Rugby league players in France by club for renaming at Categories for discussion where you'll get input from other people. NRL v AFL
No worries on the tables. My major concern is that one of those sources says people dispute who had higher ratings, in a source that you used to say that the NRL has higher ratings. To avoid the conflict, I've put in recent ratings total. This whole section should probably be spun off into its own article, summarised and then put back in… but to avoid conflict, having numbers seems to be the best bet as it makes it harder to argue. And there are plenty of reliable sources around which provide numbers like the ones cited. Screen Australia also has ratings. --LauraHale (talk) 09:09, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
- I disagree that the claim of aggregate audiences being highest is contentious as it is supported unambiguously by the source. In truth, given the article's title, that belongs in the lead-in. Tucking it down out of sight under the table where a new section about films starts doesn't look too good. Also, there was no need for the 3D TV part to go anywhere as it flowed chronologically before. As you said on the talk page, we shouldn't remove accurate and well-referenced content about one (major) sport for the sake of a consistently low standard across all sports.--Jeff79 (talk) 09:19, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi there, a few years ago, you made this edit, which added a line about Gillett playing Aussie Rules for WA whilst in Kalgoorlie. The WAFL state game lists here and here don't mention him, and I think back then the Goldfields often had their own separate representative team to WA. Do you have a reference for him playing Aussie rules, or even a tighter time frame than just "after the war"? Unearthing old Qld & NSW country detail.
Found an old boyhood book of mine. Gregory's Guide to RL. published 1965. Has many of those details that are hard to find on-line but which you've been gathering: results of every pre-origin NSW v QLD clash up till 1964; good detail on Bulimba Cup; snippets of info on which local club some of the more obscure Qld & NSW Country Kangaroo reps came from. Was thinking about that long mooted idea of an article on pre-Origin interstate clashes. At this stage I probably only have enough info to make it a list of results in the kind of format that this one uses. Being able to ever find complete player lists still seems like a pipe-dream. It has obviously escaped your notice that the sports project has standard layouts which we are trying to introduce across all the years in sport articles. This includes the use of sub-headings which specify a country unless it is obvious from the context which one it is. We might then use a heading like "Events" or the name of a competition. This applies to rugby league too. I have accepted your point that an "events" header is superfluous in 1897 but the reader who knows little about rugby league, which is a minor sport, needs something to indicate that it was played in England. You're right that the cup competition shouldn't be linked twice so I'll fix that. ----Jack | talk page 07:00, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
- Everything in that section is part of the 1896-97 Northern Rugby Football Union season and I think it's absurd that no link to that article is "allowed". The same goes for 1897 Challenge Cup. - No one is saying you can't link to those articles if you wish but the summary information which the years in sport articles need is in the articles we already do link to. If you want to expand the section because some significant event occurred in 1897 which is described only in 1896-97 Northern Rugby Football Union season then do so. When I talk about a standard layout, I mean the format of the article not the links. I find it frustrating that some Wikipedians have to resort to using phrases like "shitty standard" and I would remind you that you introduced false information when you removed the result of that final and said it was won by "Hundlet" (sic). My reason for writing to you in the first place was to point out that I had reverted your edit with good cause and, per WP:AGF, I wasn't just dismissing you like some fly-by IP. Henry Holloway
Do you reckon he spent the 1955 season with Waratah Mayfield ? The sentence seems contradictory in saying he played the 1955 GF with Newtown (which he did do) but also went to Newcastle that year. Biggest loss in the right hand panel currently reads New Zealand Māori 6 – 31 Australia (23 September 1936)
List of results on http://www.allblacks.com/news/34/NZ-Maori-first-class-results-1910-May-2010 suggests otherwise. S Africa d Maori AB 37 - 0 in Auckland 1956.
