Spelling[edit]

Information icon Hello. In a recent edit to the page Dylan Thomas, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, India, or Pakistan use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the original author of the article used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. Thank you. DuncanHill (talk) 00:25, 27 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for September 19[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Richard Nixon, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Richard Reeves (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 07:27, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Collective nouns[edit]

Please see (for example) https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/is-couple-singular-or-plural. This has nothing to do with "tense" as you described it. General Ization Talk 19:50, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Collective nouns[edit]

Hello - please do not change ‘were’ to ‘was’, such as [1] as the former is correct ... and not as you claim a ‘typo’. The former is correct as bands are taken as being a collective. For your greater understanding please review the Wikipedia Talk Page for the U2 article in which this has previously been discussed, and use Google to learn about collective nouns. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C5:9313:B900:6125:481C:BD9E:7263 (talk) 18:06, 29 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

FloridaKitties[edit]

Hi FloridaKitties

How do you know about Andree Norton who went to W. Roby Allen School? I am shock that you know about her history that I don't know because I went to W. Roby Allen School from 1966 to 1981.

Thank you, JOlson707

Roger Bradfield[edit]

Hi @FloridaKitties:, please don't make details up. Bradfield's death was announced via his publisher on Facebook weeks ago so he couldn't have died on 28th. He is listed under 28th January on the Deaths in 2022 page with the note "(death announced on this date)" beside his entry because this is the earliest date from which we have a reliable source to confirm his death. Please go and also familiarise yourself with WP:RS before you make any further edits because many of your contributions thus far have been unsourced, and this is considered a serious violation on Wikipedia. Thank you. --Jkaharper (talk) 12:40, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I did no such thing. All I did was add an apostrophe to the word "Don't", which the original editor had missed. That is why I stated that I "Fixed typo". FloridaKitties (talk) 13:35, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

December 2023[edit]

Information icon Hello! I'm Belbury. Your recent edit(s) to the page CosMc's appear to have added incorrect information, so they have been reverted for now. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite a reliable source or discuss your change on the article's talk page. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Source being cited here doesn't refer to any "problems with McDonald's business model". Belbury (talk) 15:20, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Belbury. Thank you for your comment. I am FloridaKitties. I edited the CosMc's page because of the statement, "...each of these failed" referring to the businesses Donatos Pizza, Boston Market, and Chipotle Mexican Grille which McDonald's held stakes in. That information is not correct, and wasn't the case when McDonald's chose to sell its stakes in these companies. Each of these is still in business and doing very well, particularly Chipotle. Further, McDonald's business model did not emphasize, let alone even mention, the paying of overhead consistently, as in the case of Boston Market, where monthly rent was not paid at more than one location, resulting in the closure of several of these restaurants. Apparently, there has been no recent incidence of this action, and Boston Market is thriving again as a result, as are the other companies mentioned. I am sorry that you chose to disregard my edits. It is just too bad that the reader will be subject to the erroneous idea that these businesses have failed, when they have not. FloridaKitties (talk) 16:08, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
All I've basically done here is remove your introduced aside that "there were problems with McDonald's business model of each of these restaurants", as the source doesn't mention it. I don't see that this change is giving the reader any erroneous ideas.
If you want to write about the problems with the McDonald's business model you're welcome to, but you must cite a source for it. Belbury (talk) 19:35, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
