TOTD

Tip of the day...

Please summarize your work using the Edit summary box

If you make anything other than a minor edit to an article, it helps others if you fill in the edit summary. Edit summaries are visible in the page history, watchlists, and on Recent changes, so they help other users keep track of what is happening to a page.

If you use section editing, the summary box is filled in with the section heading by default (in gray text), which you can follow with more detail. You also can put links to articles in the edit summary. Just put double brackets around [[the article title]] like you would normally. The summary is limited to 255 characters, so many people use common abbreviations, such as sp for correcting spelling mistakes, rm for remove, ce for copy-edit, etc.

Answer to the last comments from fellow Wikipedists

I have been active at Wikipedia since approx. March 2008. During that time, I have tried to learn the basics, especially the five pillars of Wikipedia, which I think are great.

Conceded, it seems that so far I haven't been as efficient in using an edit summary. And lately I am being told once and again to use it. OK, if it is as important as the Five Pillars, then, I will do it.

Please forgive my slow learning...--Fadesga (talk) 18:46, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Fabio - thank you for your understanding, and for that other note [24/11 18:51] which I received.
Supplying ESs helps vandal-patrollers or any other Wikipedian who monitors recent changes.
Thanks again, and for all your good contributions. Happy editing. Best wishes, Trafford09 (talk) 08:10, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

Article translations

Hi Fadesga. In response to your query re WP templates re translation, I wonder if this search list may provide what you're seeking?

I wonder if there's a Task force already for translations? See Wikipedia:WikiProject_Council/Guide/Task_forces - or maybe one could consider starting one up?

Sorry I can't help further but, if you think I can, please don't hesitate to ask. Regards, Trafford09 (talk) 12:11, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

PS: Please see Wikipedia:Translation. Trafford09 (talk) 12:13, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

Uruguay Categorization

Hi, since the Category:Broad Front (Uruguay) politicians includes now the politician categories of each party, could it be that in Category:Uruguayan socialists the 3 loose politician categories of (Frente Amplio) parties should be removed from the parent? Or should they also be present in the parent? Hoverfish Talk 23:41, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Ok, thank you, Fadesga. BTW, I also live in Montevideo. Hoverfish Talk 11:20, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

Can you please copyedit this?

Hi Fadesga, I am not a Rodo specialist, but someone has left a gaping syntax error here: [1]. I have nothing against the arguments presented by this editor, but I would rather see the text read well again. Can you please take a look? Thanks. Hoverfish Talk 20:39, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Moderation request for Servet Çetin article

Someone a while ago appears to have vandalised the footballer's Wiki article, but I don't have the knowledge to correctly revert it. You were the last person before the vandalism to make an edit; http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Servet_%C3%87etin&diff=next&oldid=405200356 - could you take a look and revert it?

Christopher (talk) 23:10, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

Sorry about the reverts. I know my first edit summary almost invited you to create a new section, but edit summaries are hard to get everything in. I don't think we need the material in the article at all because I think it's fairly trivial, although I know there are other entertainer articles that discuss sponsorship of products. I'm also concerned about citing to YouTube, which is generally not permitted because of copyright issues and other reasons (see WP:YOUTUBE). I tried to see if the clip is part of an official channel and therefore probably permissible, but it told me I didn't have access to the channel in the U.S. - have no idea why.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:02, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Nomination of MemoQ for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article MemoQ is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/MemoQ until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Joe Chill (talk) 19:37, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

History of Uruguay

Hi Fadesga, some time ago Dr.Blofeld asked me to translate 1973 Uruguayan coup d'état from the Spanish article. Now I see that there is also the Civic-military dictatorship of Uruguay (1973-1985) that could use some translation. As far as citacions go, it is very poor, which is a pity because so much literaute exists on the history of this issue. I see that some parts of the Spanish article [2] are already covered in the coup d'état article and do not have to be repeated here except maybe very briefly. But section "Doce años de dictadura" could be very useful here and maybe also some brief section about the end of the period. What do you say? Hoverfish Talk 14:33, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

If I can help by translating some sections from the Spanish article(s), I will gladly participate. I am open as to what else may be included in this article. I only know it deals with an important part of the history of Uruguay and needs expansion. If you take the lead I will help in, but I do not have enough knowledge on the subject to go ahead by myself or offer any weighty opinion. I only know from Wikipedia practices that if a section from an article is linked to a "main article" (in our case the coup d'etat article), usually the section is smaller than the main article. But I wouldn't object if the whole article is inculded as-is. Let me know. And by the way, since your homeland is also my land of residence, I naturally care for it as a wikipedian. Hi, sorry I see no basis for redirecting TAXI to TAXI - The Global Creative Network over other companies known as TAXI. If there is a strong argument please take it to the talk page. TerriersFan (talk) 00:43, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on TAXI - The Global Creative Network requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. TerriersFan (talk) 14:06, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

The Original Barnstar

The article Air Class aircraft missing in the River Plate has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable Aviation accident. WP:NOTNEWS also applies

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ...William 21:11, 23 June 2012 (UTC)

The article Arduino Cantafora has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Crustacean stubs

Hi Fadesga, I notice that you have recently created the stub templates {{ostracod-stub}}, {{Malacostraca-stub}} and others, and are assigning articles with them. Can you please direct me to the discussion where these new stub types were approved? I can't seem to find it. Could you also ensure that when editing stub tags, you leave the two blank lines before them, in order to ensure correct placement. --Stemonitis (talk) 15:21, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Concerning Placement of Placoderm Articles in Category Devonian Fish

Please be aware that all placoderm articles are, by default, already within the category "Devonian fish." Would it be possible to amend your edits to those placoderm articles you have placed redundantly within "Devonian fish"?--Mr Fink (talk) 00:03, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

I understand now, too. Ultimately I'd like to replace the "Prehistoric/Devonian fish" categories with "Prehistoric fish of (continent)," as necessary.--Mr Fink (talk) 01:11, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

Category:Bilateral relations of Georgia (country)

Hi Fadesga. I have started a CfD discussion about the subcategories of Category:Bilateral relations of Georgia (country). Currently some of them use the "(country)" disambiguator (such as Category:Georgia (country)–Israel relations) but some of them don't (such as Category:Georgia–Poland relations). I hope the debate can lead to some standardization one way or the other and since you created one of these subcategories, I'm hoping you can chime in. Cheers, Pichpich (talk) 20:01, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
