Nickelback

I saw what you wrote, and then subsequently erased, on the Nickelback talk page here. All that about "not wanting to fight anyone" and whatnot...is that in regards to something in particular? List of best-selling music artists

Nickelback's available certified sales suggest that their overall record sales are based not only albums but singles and videos also. Therefore, we are to use a source that claims Records (albums, singles, videos), and not just Albums. I hope this clarifies things for you. Regards.--Harout72 (talk) 01:05, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

At the List of best-selling music artists, we rely on certified sales more than what sources claim regardless of how reliable they may be, and Nickelback barely have enough certified sales to suggest they've sold 50 million Albums, Singles, Videos. The article coming from CBC News is reliable. However, if you have another reliable source that uses the term Records instead of Albums feel free to provide it. The term Records refers to everything bands/artists sell, that includes Albums (both digital and physical), Singles (both digital and physical), Videos (both digital and physical). News services often type in albums, but they mean records (overall record sales). Also, can you provide reliable sources for your following claims: Because their album Dark Horse sold 5 million digital singles. Their albums All The Right Reasons sold over 12 million digital singles. Also, they have sold 52 million videos. The last one especially seems impossible, they only have 255,000 units of videos certified from all of the music markets.--Harout72 (talk) 01:53, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Refrain from moving artists up/down on the list and reducing their certified sales as you have done in this edit, that is disruptive editing. If you have concerns about the figures of the certified sales, make sure you discuss them at the Talk:List of best-selling music artists. re:Disruptive editing

For your information RIAA is a reliable source. The figure for Linkin Park's certified sales (29.1 million) is based on albums (19.5 million), singles (9.5 million) and videos (100,000). So the answer is yes, you are editing disruptively. It probably brings you nowhere because you only see the certifications (Platinum/Gold), and since you're not familiar with the certification-levels each Platinum/Gold certification represents, it gives you no clues. WP:LEAD at Nickelback

Hi. I reverted a bunch of your edits at Nickelback. You may want to read over WP:LEAD, which deals with writing introductions for article. In general, you're not supposed to add new ideas that aren't covered elsewhere in the article. So, for instance, when you went on about, for instance, "How You Remind Me" being the number one song of the 2000's, and all these other accomplishments it had, but it doesn't say that in the article, it's not appropriate for it to be in the intro. (Also, you wrote quite a bit about that song, which could be a WP:UNDUE weight problem; they're not a one-hit wonder, and it's not the song's article, so it's probably not right to talk about it in the band's intro so much.

So yeah, in general, the intro, or lead, is only supposed to act as a summary of what is covered in more detail later on in the article. (Which, for example, is what I didn't remove your addition about the change in drummers, which is mentioned later in the article.) Thanks! Sergecross73 msg me 18:02, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

Second Warning: Don't use facebook as a source, as you did here. Again, not a reliable source. (Furthermore, it's not that great of a quote anyways. It's just a long wordy version of "we don't have a set genre", which is extremely common for musical artists to say about themselves. I still feel like this quote may fail Point #1 of "Aboutself", as it's a rather self-indulgent, pretentious quote about the "diversity" of Nickelback music. But even if you disagree with that too, we both agree that ultimately a reliable source should be there. Your edits at Nickelback

Hi Drecool1. I see that you're truly trying to improve this article and I think that's great. I'm going to mention a couple of problems, though, with how you're going about it, and how you might (without meaning to) actually be making it less likely that your changes will remain there. One is the whole edit warring thing, which you've probably heard about. When other editors revert something you've done, the next step isn't to revert them right back. (As the policy says, Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.) What you need to be doing is starting a discussion on Talk:Nickelback and trying to gather a consensus for the content you think ought to be added to the article. Reverting other editors right back actually could make them frustrated with you and then they might oppose your additions just out of that frustration.

Another thing I'm going to bring up is this edit you made a few days ago. You seem to have copied that text from another website (possibly this one: http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/nickelback/artist.jhtml). That is not cool. Nickelback and "Side Projects"

This is getting tiresome, reverting and discussing every time you make an edit that doesn't go along with Wikipedia policy. Misleading edit summaries/Poor reverting choices

It's is not appropriate to label such edits as "disruptive", like you did here. It's not disruptive at all - as you can see from the link above, I left a detailed edit summary as to why I made the change. Here's even more details on why it needs to be changed:

1. We don't need to update the paragraph every time Nickelback updates their tour plans. We're not Nickelbacks fansite or Twitter page or something.
2. There's a separate article for documenting their tour, at Here And Now Tour (Nickelback Tour). That information belongs there.
3. The info is sloppy. It lists Bush twice, and lazily, one time, is kept as Bush (band) instead of Bush.
4. Some of it doesn't logically make sense. One sentence says they've only announced North American tour dates, another sentence lists off European dates.

Short version: Stop reverting that information. There's very clearly many issues with it as is. Sergecross73 msg me 20:10, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
