Hello, Dank. Due to mentions of various templates ({{schoolblock}}, {{anonblock}}, etc) your user script is categorized into various maintenance categories: Category:Pages with templates in the wrong namespace, Category:Shared IP addresses from educational institutions, etc. To fix this issue, you can wrap your whole script page in <nowiki>...</nowiki> in JavaScript comments:

Thanks for doing this work. I don't need that page, I've deleted it. - Dank (push to talk) 14:44, 12 September 2021 (UTC)

TFA blurb (Sorabji)

Hello, I have noticed you recently made some changes to the blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/October 15, 2021. I liked the first change ("ranging" instead of "ranges"), though English is not my first language and I'm not sure if the meaning of the sentence is now slightly different. More importantly, your latest edit to the blurb led to the removal of the word "mixed" in "mixed ancestry". I don't know if you found the adjective to be misleading or superfluous, but much of the literature on Sorabji emphasizes his mixed heritage and the role it played in his identity and sense of alienation. However, I can understand it might be redundant when the next sentence mentions his parents' roots. Let me know what you think. Thank you. Toccata quarta (talk) 10:09, 10 October 2021 (UTC)

Thanks. I've restored "mixed", but I'll raise the issue on Wednesday at WP:ERRORS. There's an argument that some would find that to be offensive language, and I don't want to make the call. (I'm certain that no offense is intended, obviously, and I'm not personally offended ... I just think it would be safer to get a range of opinions on the best way to say what we want to say.) - Dank (push to talk) 14:31, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
Toccata quarta, actually, the more I think about this, the less I want to discuss it at ERRORS. I removed "mixed", and combined the two sentences so that the meaning of "ancestry" is clear from the rest of the sentence. Does that work for you? - Dank (push to talk) 15:38, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
Yes, that works just fine! Many thanks. It would nonetheless be interesting to see what the consensus at ERRORS would be, given that the lead of the Sorabji article still has the "mixed ancestry" bit. Some people might contend that "any kind of publicity is good", but it might divert attention from Sorabji and cause people to talk more about systemic bias at Wikipedia, and it's better to be safe. Let me know what you think. Toccata quarta (talk) 16:45, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
If you're happy, I'm happy. It's actually possible for "mixed ancestry" to be fine in the article but not in the blurb ... the theory is that, the more prominent the placement, the more careful you have to be that people don't hear it as "Wikipedia's voice" (not that there is any such thing, but it comes across that way to some readers). I don't think the phrase is likely to be offensive if people aren't focusing on it. But in general, there's no winning on questions of what's offensive ... everyone's offended by something, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes not. I just try to play it safe enough with the blurbs I work on that the question never comes up (and so far, we've been lucky). - Dank (push to talk) 18:15, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
October songs

Thank you for thinking about that composer's introduction, and others. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:57, 13 October 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the pond! We're enjoying our pond and wildlife this month. - Dank (push to talk) 13:51, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
For me, it stands for reflection and clarity. today: see yourself, read about a hymn praying to not be on earth in vain, about a comics artist whose characters have character (another collaboration of the "perennial gang", broken by one of us banned), and in memory of the last prima donna assoluta, Edita Gruberová. I had to go to two grave sites last week, one who died now, one who died 10 years ago, so standing upright and in black seems appropriate. More colours - but subdued - can be had on hikes, - updated. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:37, 20 October 2021 (UTC)

WT:TFA

Hi Dank,
First, I hope you get better soon. Second, I hope you're planning on sticking around some, albeit in a reduced capacity. It's always been reassuring when I see your name pop up on my watchlist occasionally, a reminder that kindness and competence still rule in some areas, at least. And third, I hope you enjoy the well-deserved reduced workload. Take care of yourself. --Floquenbeam (talk) 22:44, 29 October 2021 (UTC)

Oh yes, seconded. Wishing you all the best with the health issues, get some well-earned rest and hoping we may see you around as much as your time permits going forward. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 23:35, 29 October 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, fingers crossed, if not heart crossed, for your success at conquering whatever it is. Keep in touch here now and then. We'll worry if you indefinitely drop out of sight. — Maile (talk) 00:58, 30 October 2021 (UTC)
Wow, that's very touching, thanks guys. I was really just riding in your wake at WP:ERRORS, you guys did and are doing the heavy lifting. Feel free to ping me if there's something I can help with. I'll report back here when I get more medical news, and in the meantime, I'll be doing some writing and reviewing. - Dank (push to talk) 02:54, 30 October 2021 (UTC)

Best wishes and thanks

Hi Dan, understand from tbs that you aren't well and are stepping back. I hope you are better soon, and are still around here when you can be. You have taught me a hell of a lot about editing and reviewing over the years, and you really will be missed. Regards, Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 03:22, 30 October 2021 (UTC)

Thanks, and thanks for being such a positive, strong presence at Milhist. - Dank (push to talk) 14:31, 30 October 2021 (UTC)
November songs
Thank you for your TFA blurbs et. al., and best wishes! Today is an anniversary in family history, pictured. Sadly Aga Mikolaj died, a great voice especially in Four Last Songs (still on the page as I write this). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:08, 16 November 2021 (UTC)
