A Request for making Userbox[edit]

Hey man, a sincere request to you from my side. Please make 3 userboxes for Pearl jam. It should be like-"This user is Super fan of Pearl jam", "This user listens to Pearl jam", "This user loves Pearl jam". It would be really great if you add something really innovative like photo or something in it.Note that its not an order brother but just a request as i am finding problems doing it myself. When you make it please tell me how i can get access to it since i am helping in categorising some bands fans on wikipedia. To reply to me simply leave a message below, i will see it as soon as i get free. Regards 47.8.235.244 (talk) 12:10, 28 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Did you have any colors in mind? Please see User:SportsFan007/UserBoxes#Pearl Jam and let me know what you think!!! SportsFan007 (talk) 20:27, 28 November 2018 (UTC)SportsFan007[reply]

Hey - the main contributors of this article appear to have been single-purpose accounts and they are no longer around. NBC News just published an article about SOWTs and I think there is some good information for someone with a background in deployment to digest.--v/r - TP 22:57, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fantastic find TP, I will find some time in my busy civilian schedule to update the SOWT article. I can probably/hopefully get around to it tomorrow night. Thanks again! —  dainomite   23:02, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Dainomite. I'm about as useless as a civilian when it comes to anything down range.--v/r - TP 23:04, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, I've got your back. —  dainomite   23:07, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Color graphics for Infobox college football player[edit]

Dainomite, here's a sneak peel at how the revamped infobox is going: Template:Infobox college football player/testcases#Joe Cool (typical example). What do you think of the colors, graphics, and layout and design? In particular, how do you like the "college varsity stripe graphics?" Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 16:51, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Statistical leaders[edit]

Hey, saw you make a lot of college football-related edits. Wanted to let you know that I've put up a Public Google Doc that lets you easily create statistical leaders pages with consistent formatting in you're interested in making any. Jhn31 (talk) 03:43, 6 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I actually saw your thread on r/cfb talking about this . Nice! —  dainomite   22:13, 6 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Source for Special Tactics[edit]

If you're looking for data on these groups and squadrons, Carney & Schemmer's 'No Room for Error' is busting with it. Lots of stuff, because Col John T. Carney USAF (Ret) (according to the book) practically was there from the beginning. ISBN 0-345-45335-2. Should be able to get a paperback copy off the Net easily - my copy is paperback... Ah yes, I've been meaning to dust off the cover, buckle down, and read it. I do have that copy on my bookshelf, along with a few other books on Air Force SOF history that discuss it's roles in Vietnam, Cold War, etc. But, unfortunately I've been incredibly busy ever since I separated from the Air Force I haven't had enough time to read them. Ironically I got most of them right after I separated because I thought I would have more free time on my hands. Hah! How naive of me... —  dainomite   01:57, 24 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Question about Wisconsin colors[edit]

Hey Dainomite. I'm the one that changed the colors for Wisconsin because their Athletics manual shows a different color (#BB1F41), and is definitely not the academic color (#B70101). However, the athletics website shows it the same as the academics color. Also, the University Brand Guidelines shows the athletics has a different color (the one I changed it to). I didn't make very many edits because I saw the athletics website showed the darker red; I reverted my edits. I don't know if I'm confused as to whether those guidelines are outdated or what, but the guidelines don't match this. Sorry for causing this problem. Corkythehornetfan 06:09, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Heyo Corky! Not a problem, no harm no foul. Especially since you were assuming good faith. The main rationale I have for #B70101 as the best choice is because it's the only thing that states specifically "Primary color palette for the web". Where as most everything else is referring to "print" colors. Even on the UW Athletics guidelines under "Wisc Red" it refers to print when it states "in lieu of which use *Pantone® 200 for spot color. Pantone® 200 PC for process color Process Equivalent -3C-100M-66Y-12K" It's easy to just use colorzilla or something to pluck a color from a page and paste it in somewhere but that is the main difference as I see it. Cheers, —  dainomite   06:28, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, thanks! Corkythehornetfan 15:08, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Not a problem, anytime! Cheers, —  dainomite   17:19, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

US national team crest[edit]

Hey, I noticed you undid the edit by that guy on the US national team page for their crest and also on other teams. If you are interested, there is a discussion on that going on at WT:Football which was started by me cause that guy did the same on the India national football team page. Cheers. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 02:09, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

USC vs Southern California[edit]

Dainomite, per your edit on Clay Matthews III, the standard short name for the USC Trojans is "USC", while for the South Carolina Gamecocks, it is "South Carolina". The prose of the stubby lead found at List of USC Trojans in the NFL Draft is not representative. What is representative is the naming convention found generally at Category:USC Trojans, its daughter categories, and elsewhere. Wikipedia talk:WikiProject College football would be a good place to discuss this if you think there is an issue. Thanks, Jweiss11 (talk) 20:21, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Jweiss11: Are you going to change the all the players listed on List of USC Trojans in the NFL Draft from Southern California to USC then? Here's the names on that list from 2015 to 2011, just 5 years. Marqise Lee, Marcus Martin, Devon Kennard, Robert Woods (wide receiver), T. J. McDonald, Matt Barkley, Khaled Holmes, Matt Kalil, Nick Perry (American football), Tyron Smith, Jurrell Casey, Jordan Cameron, Ronald Johnson (American football), Allen Bradford (American football), Stanley Havili, David Ausberry, Malcolm Smith (American football). Going back to 2011 only 2 had USC, all of these list Southern California. —  dainomite   03:37, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
They should all be changed. Jweiss11 (talk) 03:38, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Jweiss11: Well there's a whole list there, shouldn't take too long. —  dainomite   03:40, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Changing comments[edit]

Thanks for your clarification at the Pac-12 RM. It's not really a big deal in this case, but typically you should avoid changing your comments if someone has responded to them. It's OK if you need to, but follow WP:REDACT. Again, I'm ok with it in this case, but it can lead to problems in other situations. Anyways, just FYI if you weren't already aware. Thanks.—Bagumba (talk) 03:21, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, usually I would but I figured the discussion hasn't had any replies/discussion to this point besides us two really and it was only you asking for me to clarify my stance. Thanks again, Cheers, —  dainomite   03:26, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there! It's been a while, how's it going? I hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year as well! You may have noticed that I haven't nearly been as active as I used to be. The short version is I've gone back to school full time and I've also been working full time.... and that hasn't left a lot of spare time for much else . Other than contributing to some Badgers/former Badgers articles, I did create two, one I spent more time on one than the other as you can tell, Joe Schobert and 2015 Holiday Bowl. I hope everything is going great for you! If you ever want to collaborate on anything together just let me know! Cheers, —  dainomite   02:59, 5 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wisconsin navboxes[edit]

Look, I don't want to revert all of your edits, but quite frankly I cannot figure out why you are fussing so much about the black border? It's ridiculous. All teams will have a border in the navboxes when done with the Module. No one else seems to freak out about it as much as you. It doesn't show in the Infoboxes, which should be your main concern. I just don't get it. ☔️ Corkythehornetfan 🌺 02:39, 12 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It's not the black border, it's that most everything using only {{CollegePrimaryStyle|Wisconsin Badgers}} ends up being cardinal and black when it's supposed to be cardinal and white. So instead of asking to you fix it I fixed it myself. This way it matches tables on various Wisconsin Badgers athletics pages that are simply Cardinal and White. —  dainomite   02:54, 12 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
A lot of schools have just a primary and white as their colors, but uses an accent color just like Wisconsin. The black borders doesn't harm anything and removing quite frankly is just plain stupid in my opinion. But whatever. I dont have time to argue over this shit. Fans for teams need to get over this issue and move on. It isn't the end of the world. ☔️ Corkythehornetfan 🌺 03:20, 12 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Did you completely skip over what i said? I didn't say anything about black borders. Reread what I posted and click the link I provided and the read what I posted again. —  dainomite   03:22, 12 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Then read this for your answer. We can get it so the roster displays the greatest contrast. ☔️ Corkythehornetfan 🌺 03:28, 12 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I did that 3 hours ago, 2 hours before you posted on my talk page. Now if you don't have anything constructive to say please do not post on my talk page. —  dainomite   03:37, 12 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Editor of the Week : nominations needed![edit]

The Editor of the Week initiative has been recognizing editors since 2013 for their hard work and dedication. Editing Wikipedia can be disheartening and tedious at times; the weekly Editor of the Week award lets its recipients know that their positive behaviour and collaborative spirit is appreciated. The response from the honorees has been enthusiastic and thankful.

The list of nominees is running short, and so new nominations are needed for consideration. Have you come across someone in your editing circle who deserves a pat on the back for improving article prose regularly, making it easier to understand? Or perhaps someone has stepped in to mediate a contentious dispute, and did an excellent job. Do you know someone who hasn't received many accolades and is deserving of greater renown? Is there an editor who does lots of little tasks well, such as cleaning up citations?

Please help us thank editors who display sustained patterns of excellence, working tirelessly in the background out of the spotlight, by submitting your nomination for Editor of the Week today!

March Madness 2017[edit]

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

An update from the Sustainability Initiative[edit]

Thank you for supporting the Sustainability Initiative!

Hi, Dainomite! Thank you again for supporting the Sustainability Initiative, which aims at reducing the environmental impact of the Wikimedia movement. Over the past two years, more than 200 Wikipedians from all over the world have come together to push the Wikimedia movement towards greater sustainability.

What's new?

We are writing you this message because there is great news: The Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation has finally passed a resolution stating that the Foundation is committed to seeking ways to reduce the impact of its activities on the environment. Also, we have created a cool logo and found a nice name for the project which you can see on the right :-)

What's next?

Currently, we are working with Wikimedia Foundation staff to make sustainability a key priority for the selection of a new location for Wikimedia servers in Singapore. Also, we have presented the Wikimedia Foundation with a green energy roadmap to have all Wikimedia servers run on renewable energy by 2019.

Please help!

Let's keep this project moving forward – and there are several ways in which you can help:

  • Ask other Wikipedians to sign the project page as well – this way we can show the Wikimedia Foundation that this is an issue that the community really cares about.
  • Talk to Wikimedians you know about the importance of reducing the environmental impact of the Wikimedia movement.
  • Improve and translate the project page on Meta.

If you have any questions, you can contact us on on Meta. Again, thank you very much for your support! --Aubrey and Gnom (talk) 09:32, 9 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting[edit]

As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive[edit]

G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages
  • updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign up here.
