RFPP Clerk script

You may wish to add importScript('User:Rami_R/rfppClerk.js'); to your monobook/vector javascript page. It gives a one click option to add the protection templates, and a one click response to add status templates under protection requests. Regards, NativeForeigner Talk/Contribs 05:46, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure which one I have, but I've had something that provides functionality like that installed for months. Courcelles 05:57, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
Probably. Just noticed you forgot to put the template on Starcraft 2. Easy error to make and I do it all the time, but I made the assumption you didn't have the script. Silly me. NativeForeigner Talk/Contribs 06:01, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I forgot to put the lock on the actual page, though I did use the template at RFPP. Courcelles 06:26, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Thank you

Too upset to write other than how much I appreciate you. TYTY! Namaste...DocOfSoc (talk)

Anytime. I'm tired of SRQ's antics, so I just semi-protected your user page indefinitely. Give her one less target- and us admins one less thing to monitor- if nothing else. Happy to be here and able to help. Courcelles 02:37, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Thank

Thanks for your help. If you wanted to full-protect Only Girl for a week i wouldnt object as all the moves added like 20 new things on my watchlist lol. Wont hurt anyone to wait the its notable, will just save myself and lil-unique alot of trouble. Also, Regarding 3RR if i continually redirect articles (per delete consensus) is that a violation? Further is reverting deliberate factual errors or unsourced additions a violation? Im asking as i dont usually pay attention to 3RR as all the issues ive listed above are very disruptive and i dont use them in an edit warring fashion - (CK)Lakeshade - talk2me - 03:32, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Yes to both, as 3RR exemptions are very narrow. If it relates to a living person you'll get some leeway, but don't count on it. See WP:3RR for the specific exemptions. Sorry about the logs, I completely screwed up where I was putting the talk page once, and that made a bit of a mess in the logs. Courcelles 03:35, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
No worries. Do the unsourced and factual errors to music articles not fall under "Removal of libelous, biased, unsourced, or poorly sourced contentious material that violates the policy on biographies of living persons (BLP). What counts as exempt under BLP can be controversial. Consider reporting to the BLP noticeboard instead of relying on this exemption". if you think about it technically they do fall under as the pages are about the artist. what your opinion? - (CK)Lakeshade - talk2me - 03:40, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Here's the thing, someone changing a release date or something else is not libellous or negative. The key clause in that exemption is "contentious material", which is somewhat different from "wrong". Simply being unsourced would make you have to plead your case at WP:ANEW, and you just don't want to be reported there if you can avoid it. Courcelles 03:46, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Okay thanks. Im more or less careful and i dont edit war so i think ill be good. Thanks again for all your help and i will let you know one the song passes WP:NSONG and we'll go from there. Talk to you soon and happy editing :) - (CK)Lakeshade - talk2me - 03:53, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Help!

There is something wrong when I try to nominate the Template:Science in Pakistan for deletion here. The entry simply does not appear. Farjad0322 (talk|contribs) 03:38, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Fixed, see [1]. Twinkle placed the discussion inside the arrows, thus hiding it when viewing the page. Courcelles 03:40, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Thank You! I believe that was my mistake...darn, I am so stupid... Farjad0322 (talk|contribs) 03:42, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
No problem. Happy editing! Courcelles 03:48, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Burning Koran burning

Thanks for the protection--I should have asked for it myself. Drmies (talk) 04:26, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

No problem, it is going to get a ton of views the next three days, and we don't need BLP crap defacing it while the world will be watching. Courcelles 04:30, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Yep. And undoubtedly we'll hear often enough that by defending the article we are defending that crap... Drmies (talk) 04:35, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
That's the rub, isn't it? Somehow we have to keep garbage out of the article, yet very few of us would even try to defend what that church is doing on an ethical plane. All we can really do is just present the facts, and leave the conclusions to the pundits and the readers. They'll get all the opinion they want just by turning on their TV's. Courcelles 04:41, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Thank you!

You are the best, over and over. I am grateful you are one of my Wiki peeps and a great deal of respect goes with that! Namaste...DocOfSoc (talk) 10:07, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Same to you, Doc. I still quite can't believe you got dragged to ANI over that. (For the record, that's not an invitation for anyone to drag me there!) Courcelles 19:05, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

3RR, no. Edit warring, yes, yes, yes

I didn't have the time to go through all the minutiae, but it's all in the Becky Quick talk pages. User:KeltieMartinFan lost a one-person erasing jihad last year, went dormant and has now returned with the same BS that was rejected last year.

P.S. User:KeltieMartinFan is (sigh) already into his second revert. My bet is a sock puppet User:Fourviz will be involved shortly in the mindless reverting.

76.114.197.43 (talk) 12:05, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

The problem is you reported someone for 3RR who hadn't edited the article in question in nearly a fortnight. That will never get acted on at ANEW. Courcelles 18:58, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
I was trying to report someone for edit warring, not 3RR, based on a series of edits over time that, yes, exceeded a fortnight. How that gets acted on is an administrative decision. (I report, you decide?). : ) -- 76.114.197.43 (talk) 19:11, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Are Digwuren notices needed at WP:AE#Petri Krohn?

Hello Courcelles. So far four admins have commented and I wonder if the case might be closed. The four admins are in agreement not to block, but you make the added suggestion to issue Digwuren notices to User:Collect and User:Marknutley. If you still hold that view, could you add more reasoning to the case? Usually the notices are given because we think someone is on a bad path. Collect and Mark nutley have not been very active on the article since August 1, so I am not sure what their contribution to the problem would be identified as. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 17:04, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Well, someone closed it down while I was busy, but in general I think if someone is already knowledgeable enough about a case to request enforcement under it, they should be formally notified of it to cut down on hoop jumping going forward, though not by using the "further inappropriate behaviour" template. I also noticed that Collect only recently has edited that article to revert things. Courcelles 19:02, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. EdJohnston (talk) 20:05, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Mail

I'm not seeing it. It happens sometimes (it's probably delivered by the beloved Royal Mail!). Try my "public" address . HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:34, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Still not seeing it. I suspect it's me, not WP. It happens fairly frequently. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:41, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, when I sent it manually, it bounced. Sent again, and removed your e-mail from here to prevent spiders. Courcelles 23:44, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Page protection and note

Thanks for the help. I don't involve myself with the content on that page because the subject is upset that it exists. I just remove BLP violations at this point. The IP block should help with much of that. Appreciate it! Jokestress (talk) 23:53, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Blocking

Ha, I guess never threaten a administrator. Gook work though. Thanks--intelati(Call) 01:30, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Or, never let your second edit be threatening someone who HAS a block button with a block :P That kind of account is most likely a sock, and is up to absolutely no good. (And, for the record, if it wasn't such a cut-and-dry problematic account, I would have gotten another sysop involved.) Courcelles 01:35, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Didn't think about it like that. Anyways, good work. and thanks for the Laughs.--intelati(Call) 01:36, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Jolt (Transformers)

I found third party Transformers book and I wanted to add a citation to Jolt (Transformers) to help it. Is there any way to undelete it so I can add the citation and it can be reconsidered? Thanks! Mathewignash (talk) 00:43, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

I could move the article somewhere into your user space, and then when you think you've established notability, run the draft by either myself in the first instance or deletion review in the second. Let me know where you'd like me to put it. Courcelles 06:08, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
If by reliable third party publication he means DK's The Ultimate Guide, then, no, it doesn't count. That book is so not a "third party" source, being a Hasbro-affiliated publication, written by Simon Furman. Plus, the book had spelling mistakes. NotARealWord (talk) 17:37, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
I was looking through the books for things that do not say licensed by Hasbro (since that would be secondary at least) and I found one that's an "unauthorized" look at Transformers. Perhaps that would be a good one to cite? Mathewignash (talk) 21:12, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi Courcelles, you blocked Jprw (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) on September 9 for 72 hours [2] for 5RR at Roger Scruton. It appears that he evaded the block today by adding three POV tags to the article—including to the section he was blocked for reverting—as 95.27.94.16 (talk · contribs). [3]

This IP resolves to Moscow. [4] If you look at Jprw's very first edit in January 2008, [5] the IP that made a related edit 10 minutes before him, 82.142.131.50 (talk · contribs), also resolves to Moscow. [6] Both IPs have articles in common with Jprw (apart from Roger Scruton) so it seems clear that it's him. SlimVirgin talk|contribs 02:26, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, that's him, clear as day. I blocked him Thursday morning, so I've given him until next Thursday morning off. Courcelles 02:42, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Okay, many thanks. I'll let you know if anything else happens. SlimVirgin talk|contribs 02:53, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
I also blocked the 95. IP for the same duration. I've left the 82. one unblocked because it hasn't edited in a while and could be assigned to someone entirely different by now, but, we will find out. Courcelles 02:55, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Congrats!

The TomStar81 Spelling Award
Be it known to all members of Wikipedia that Courcelles has corrected my god-awful spelling on the page Wikipedia:In the news/Candidates, and in doing so has made an important and very significant contribution to the Wikipedia community, thereby earning this TomStar81 Spelling Award and my deepest thanks. Keep up the good work! TomStar81 (Talk) 02:59, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Also, I added a pic at just about the same time you fixed my sp error, while I made a point to preserve the spelling correct you may want to check and make 100% sure the new pic info isn't misspelled too. TomStar81 (Talk) 02:59, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Thanks- I usually leave ITN/C spelling alone- it's functionally a talk page, after all- but I know how lazy admins can cut and paste something onto the main page. At least I'm not the only one who leaves spelling errors everywhere I go (though mine are usually of the honor/honour variety). And, yes, you had misspelled the rank in the photo caption! Courcelles 03:05, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
The Copyeditor's Barnstar
For fixing my other spelling error, I hereby award you The Copyeditor's Barnstar. Thanks for fixing my "famously idiosyncratic spelling", I do appreciate it immensely :) TomStar81 (Talk) 06:43, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Monster (Kanye West & Jay-Z song)

Hi! Just to let you know I've just deleted the actual article as it sounds like the AFD closure script you are probably using just like me deleted the one with the redirect. Again seems someone moved the article without mentioning it on the AFD. JForget 15:36, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, thanks for catching that. People really need to annotate the AFD if they move an article during the discussion. Courcelles 20:19, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I've noticed that the above article has been recreated as a redirect to List of MGM Television shows, though this wasn't the decision reached at Afd. What are your thoughts on this as closing admin? Dylanfromthenorth (talk) 19:51, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Seems a logical outcome. If it comes back as an article, however, there would be an issue. Courcelles 20:18, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

What happened to the CASK THOMSON article?

says you deleted the article because the artist was supposedly not notable, how so? The guy is very well known on Sydney's christian radios, he produced for New Empire and everything --110.33.247.69 (talk) 06:03, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

The article was deleted because of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cask Thomson, in which no one provided any sources that established the notability of this person in reliable secondary sources. Courcelles 21:25, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
I Would say the dude is very notable, any way of getting his page back if I managed to add some notability and citations? --220.239.143.32 (talk) 14:10, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

Here ya go!

Thought you might appreciate this :)

--5 albert square (talk) 21:30, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Ugh, kittens! They're so blame cute, but they make me sneeze, not be able to breathe, and all-around miserable ;) Thanks for the thought, though :) Courcelles 21:31, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
We need a {{puppy}}! ;) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:41, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Puppies ain't normally as cute! Awww Courcelles that ain't nice if you're allergic to them :( --5 albert square (talk) 21:43, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
I had a better idea! :) ~ mazca talk 21:53, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Haha Mazca I love it! --5 albert square (talk) 21:57, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Oh my, that's hilarious! (Though what lesson was I supposed to learn from the misery of a cat?) Courcelles 03:40, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
<wise old sage> Ah, grasshopper, let me explain. Now you have a kitten in your possession, you have to handle it with care and clean up after it, against the odds. The kitten, you see, represents what the laymen call "newbies". That is the lesson.</wise old sage> Mazca, that's an epic template. sonia 04:17, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
Aaah. See, I'm not allergic to dogs, so those lessons are taught to me just as well without the sneezing! I can actually breathe even though everything- and I do mean everything- in my house is covered in dog hair. Well, except my bed. He's not allowed on there. I had to roll the sports coat I wore this morning to get brown hair off it, even though it had been in the closet for weeks. I've heard cat hair is worse. Courcelles 04:23, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
I hope your pots and pans aren't covered in dog hair! Having a rabbit makes life much easier, but I don't get affection. Picky little fella doesn't like carrots or greens- he prefers hot toast. sonia 04:59, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
No, but if I didn't ave the pots and pans in drawers and cabinets, they would be. Your rabbit sounds like as finicky an eater as my dog; he won't eat anything red, for instance. No idea why, but he'll lick my bowl if I had green stuff, white stuff, even orange stuff. Red stuff, and he won't even touch it. Courcelles 05:01, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
