Welcome![edit]

Hello, Catfish Roy, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you created or edited appears to be an article about yourself. Creating an autobiography is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. We require individuals to meet Wikipedia's definition of a notable person to accept articles about them.

The page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page. If your contributions to an existing article about yourself are undone and you wish to add to it, please propose the changes on its talk page.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! 331dot (talk) 15:21, 24 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello 331dot - Please go to Gerdes Folk City page on Wikipedia. There you will see a list of about 100 musicians who played at Folk City - click on any musicians name and it will take you to their page on Wikipedia. I also played at Folk City - I added my name to the list - Catfish Roy Mann - I also have a copy of the Folk City ad which ran in The Village Voice with my name on it - I was trying to create a page for people to go to if they click on my name. If you meet the special Wikipedia definition of a notable musician, and received significant coverage in independent reliable sources, someone will eventually write an article(not a "page") about you. You can try to force the issue and do it yourself, but this is highly discouraged, in part because people naturally write favorably about themselves. If you truly feel you can avoid doing that, you may create a draft via Articles for creation. Once any draft about you is accepted, you can then edit other articles to add links to it. Please read Your First Article before attempting that. 331dot (talk) 20:31, 24 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
