Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Cassity Lindstrum at SecureDocs. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article SecureDocs Virtual Data Room, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 19:00, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I would add to the above that if you are going to create articles about things having to do with your company(like its products or personnel) you really should do so using Articles for Creation and not directly create a page. It is likely to be much better received that way and you will get feedback on how to improve it. 331dot (talk) 19:01, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. 331dot (talk) 19:03, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

deleting administrator I see that a page the I created called SecureDocs Virtual Data Room has been deleted. I'd like to contest the deletion and have the page back up in order to add additional links as trequested. It is clear that other companies in our industry have live pages with similar information to what is on the page we created.

I'm not the deleting administrator, though I did nominate the page. Please note that other things exist and just because other similar services have pages does not mean that the one from your company automatically gets a page too. Each page is judged on its own merits. Wikipedia articles must do more than provide information. This is not social media where anyone can post anything about any subject; as an encyclopedia, Wikipedia is more selective about its content. Articles subjects must be shown with independent reliable sources to be notable, which your page did not do. The sources given didn't even mention this service specifically.
Please review what I wrote at the top of this page; you need to review the conflict of interest and paid editing polices ASAP(and declare a paid association if you have one, which is required by Wikipedia's Terms of Use) I highly suggest that you create pages using Articles for Creation. Please see this FAQ for more information about editing as a company representative. Thanks. 331dot (talk) 19:33, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I would add that I assume by "we" you mean your company and not that more than one person is using your username, which is not permitted. 331dot (talk) 19:39, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
