Hi Wishds, thanks for creating this article. One thing to keep in mind is our guideline on self-published sources - user-generated wikis like Wikia or Wikipedia are not typically considered reliable. Nikkimaria (talk) 15:53, 24 August 2015 (UTC)

You are invited! Join us remotely!

World Virtual Edit-a-thon on Women in Architecture

  • Dates: 15 to 25 October 2015
  • Location: Worldwide/virtual/online event
  • Host/Facilitator: Women in Red (WiR): Did you know that only 15% of the biographies on Wikipedia are about women? WiR focuses on "content gender gap". If you'd like to help contribute articles on women and women's works, we warmly welcome you!
  • Sponsor: Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in association with Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation, Women in Design, and Wikiproject Women Wikipedia Design
  • Event details: This is a virtual edit-a-thon hosted by WiR in parallel with a series of "physical" Guggenheim edit-a-thons. It will allow all those keen to improve Wikipedia's coverage of women in architecture and design to participate. The campaign aims to further the goals of Ada Lovelace Day for STEM, and Art+Feminism for art, in a field that by its nature combines both. As the virtual edit-a-thon stretches over a week and a half, inexperienced participants will be able to draw on the assistance of more experienced editors while creating, translating or improving articles on women who are (or have been) prominent in this field. All levels of Wikipedia editing experience are welcome.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of Ichang Street

The article Ichang Street has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no evidence for the notability of the 50 metre long street in Hong Kong.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Please stop creating stub categories. If you think any stub categories need to be created, feel free to propose them at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals - after you have a list of at least 60 articles which would belong there. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 15:33, 25 February 2016 (UTC)

Information icon Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to History of television‎: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. Chris Troutman (talk) 14:03, 1 March 2016 (UTC)

Sure I will do that. In fact I just thought about doing so a minute or so ago

Just following up :-)

Hi, Wishds! I just wanted to check in with you and see if you managed to try out any of those tools yet. Like I said, the tool I started with was Lupin's Anti-vandal tool. It's easy to install, and it works very well. I think it'll be a good starter tool for you. Once you gain more experience reverting vandalism and reporting vandals to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism (give it at least a few months from now), you'll be able to apply for rollback permissions. This will grant you more technical abilities to revert vandalism easily, and allow you access to more tools. In the meantime, I wish you the best of luck. My door is completely open and at any time should you run into any questions :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:51, 28 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi, Oshwah. Thanks for the suggestion! I am now using Lupin's one and its real fun reverting these changes! Wishds (talk) 14:12, 1 March 2016 (UTC)

Pending changes reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

See also:

Rollback granted

Hi Wishds. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! MusikAnimal talk 06:37, 10 March 2016 (UTC)

Nomination of Harbour Road for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Harbour Road is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Harbour Road until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Boleyn (talk) 18:18, 16 March 2016 (UTC)

Can you please tell me why you nominated the deletion of this page? I know it may be a little short and may lack reference materials...its a stub article I just started it'll improve over time like any other article. If you think more references should be provided I will search for some and add to it.

Ways to improve Huangbeiling

Hi, I'm NearEMPTiness. Wishds, thanks for creating Huangbeiling!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Thank you for uploading this article, which is a good start. Do you know, how to add coordinates? Hong Kong FAR

Hi Wishva, just letting you know that I've closed the Hong Kong FAR - since this article is not currently featured, you'll instead want to nominate it at FAC. However, before you do so, I'd advise you to read the instructions at the top of that page, in particular the note that nominators who are not significant contributors to the page should discuss first. GA nomination and review problems

Wishva de Silva, I noticed you have started to nominate articles to be Good Articles through the GAN process. We're glad you're interested in doing so.

However, you are also opening reviews for all these articles, and that is not allowed: no one who nominates an article or has been doing more than superficial editing to the article is an eligible reviewer. Reviewers must not be involved in the article. Please see WP:GANI for information on nominating articles, which notes that the nominator cannot also review their own nomination.

Please stop opening reviews on the articles you nominate—it will only delay them from being reviewed. I will be marking those reviews you have already opened for speedy deletion so that they can go back in the nomination pool. If you have any questions, please feel free to reply here. Thank you. Ways to improve Tom Walkinshaw (entrepreneur)

Hi, I'm Chris troutman. Wishva de Silva, thanks for creating Tom Walkinshaw (entrepreneur)!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. This subject fails WP:ANYBIO. Why did you create this?

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Chris Troutman (talk) 22:01, 8 June 2016 (UTC)

@Chris troutman: Hi there! Well, its quite difficult to explain why I created this. To put it simple he was a guest at a technology exhibition a year or so ago, I was doing some volunteering work there back then and I met him. I just had an exam yesterday and had nothing to do in the night, and for some reasons I just arbitrarily had an idea about creating an article about him. The reason why I consider him to be notable is I think he and his company are the earliest, if not only company now producing tiny satellites called PocketQubes. Again, the article was just the result of a random idea of mine. If you and others in the community consider that it does not fit the criterion but there is room for improvement, I am happy to expand the article later. Wishva de Silva (talk) 14:36, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
You have enough experience here to have seen our notability criteria, right? Normally I'd've just nominated this for deletion but I gave you the benefit of the doubt because you're not a n00b, so I assume you know what you're doing. Place names

So about modern vs old spellings. It's certainly not biased to refer to places by their historical names in battle articles. It's not about what the current name is but about historical context. It's obviously OK to put the modern name in parenthesis but I think it goes way too far if you replace every instant of the conventional spelling with the modern one. That's like replacing every mention of "Constantinople" with "Istanbul" in the Fall of Constantinople. Spellcast (talk) 15:07, 25 June 2016 (UTC)

Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:59, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Hi Wishva!

Yes, you got me right and I recognise who you are! Can't believe you are such a professional Wikipedian haha. I started using Wikipedia since 2009 and did quite a few edits on Chinese Wikipedia. But I didn't contribute too much time on it so most of the time just correct some minor errors I saw.

I didn't even have an English User Page but you can take a look at my Chinese User Page: https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Zhu_yihan (I just pile loads of userbox on it)

I was spending my holiday back in Shenzhen now, we could have a chat after I fly back to London! Zhu yihan (talk) 16:27, 1 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited London School of Economics, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Kingsway (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Invite to Join WikiProject for Spoken Wikipedia

Hi CandyEatingReporter! I am Galendalia and I have revived the WikiProject for Spoken Wikipedia. I noticed that you signed up at some point to be a participant and as I am reviving this project, one of my tasks is to get the participant list in order. Would you please go to the Participants List and add your name and language(s) you speak? If you are already there and do not want to be, please move yourself to the inactive list at the bottom of the page. If you want to remain, please put remain next to your name (this way you are not moved). If I do not see anything from you by May 30, 2020, I will move you to the inactive participant list. It would also be great if you would be willing to join the task force for Pronunciation that would be awesome, as there are troublesome words we run into.

Thank you for considering joining us. If you decide to leave, I will be sad to see you leave as so many people have done a great job on the recordings and any work you have done makes a significant difference.

Information icon Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to Astroworld Festival: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template index/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. 220 of ßorg 10:55, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
