Profumo pictures PD?[edit]

Hi!

Thanks for uploading Image:JohnProfumo.jpg and Image:ChristineKeeler.jpg. You tagged both those pictures as {{PD}}, but I wonder why they would be? Can you refer me to a statement where the copyright holder turns them into the public domain? Thanks! —Gabbe 12:36, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I chose these particular pics of Image:JohnProfumo.jpg and Image:ChristineKeeler.jpg because they are widely available on Google images and used by bloggers including national press. Pictures of Image:Dr Larry Brilliant.jpg and Image:CharlesPhillips.jpg are publicity pictures by Seva Foundation and Oracle corp and again widely used when these people do public speaking. erpguru 04:30, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That does not in any way mean they're not copyrighted. You shouldn't mark them as "public domain" unless you're absolutely certain the images have no copyright holder. Public domain is for material which is not covered by copyright, such as paintings made hundreds of years ago, or media ineligable for copyright, such as images made by the United States federal government. In a few specific cases we allow copyrighted images under the "Fair use" provision of American copyright law, you can read more about that on WP:FUC. —Gabbe 17:37, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I understand. I added the "licence" for Image:CharlesPhillips.jpg there is even a button to download the image...it must mean "fair use".

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, such as on User_talk:Mabdul, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. Your deletion of "falsely", based on a misunderstanding of NPOV, has been reverted. It can be seen as POV vandalism, hence the template above. NPOV does not forbid such content when it is backed by RS. In fact, NPOV requires that editors keep their personal POV out of the decision. NPOV is primarily about editorial neutrality, not content or source neutrality. The Biden-Ukraine conspiracy theory is indeed false. No evidence has emerged that Joe Biden's actions were corrupt, and there is plenty of evidence that what Joe Biden did was proper, very public, and carried out the will of the international community. They actually placed Hunter Biden in much more jeopardy if he was engaged in anything corrupt.
