AfD support[edit]

Stick around! Let's see what we can do with that AfD. --A. B. (talkcontribsglobal count) 23:33, 23 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Observation: when you write stuff like Most of the sources only marginally refrence the character or have very little information about them you really have to scrap the bucket to get information about them dispite how influential and important they were for their time it's pretty hard to make people comfortable we should keep the article. I don't mean to be critical; I've just seen a lot of AfDs. Don't sell your work short. You could just say what the sources say and leave it at that without the color commentary. (I don't mean to be harsh -- this is my inner cheerleader coming out)
Also, I'd really like to know more about why Ragnhildis was the "cause of the collapse of the entire kingdom of the Isles"!
--A. B. (talkcontribsglobal count) 03:36, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, the reason she was the "cause" was because since she was part of the crovan dynasty and her marriage to somerled it gave somerled a claim to the throne and the way some of the old orkney text say she caused the collapse because of the transfer of power to her and somerleds descendants which caused the kingdom to become fractured and weak which ultimately led to its collapse in 13th century. AvailableViking (talk) 16:57, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest that if you have a reference you can cite, you should add this reason to the article. Also Ingibjörg is interesting in that it looks like there were dynamic considerations and a power shift between her and the other wife.
If you've got a reference, go for it!

Ingibjörg and Ragnhildis thank you for your successful defence of their honour at AfD. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The Wikipedia library[edit]

Please check out Wikipedia:The Wikipedia Library. Many editors use the resources here, there are about 200 sites and databases (JSTOR, ProjectMUSE, Cambridge Core, Newspaper archives); if you do not currently have access to an academic library and databases, this can be very helpful.  // Timothy :: talk  03:53, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@TimothyBlue, the library is only open to extended confirmed editors. -- asilvering (talk) 00:53, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@AvailableViking - if you need something from there, let me know. I have access. --A. B. (talkcontribsglobal count) 00:10, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Confederations[edit]

Hi, thanks for adding to List of confederations, it could do w some more flags being added if you’d be interested in doing that, I’ve got no idea how lol Alexanderkowal (talk) 22:42, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ok lol I will add some if I find them AvailableViking (talk) 22:44, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Is it worth splitting tribal confederations into a new section? Alexanderkowal (talk) 19:49, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
it could be in the same way that there is around 15 greek leagues which i am yet to add. im not sure but it might be a good idea AvailableViking (talk) 20:46, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah because the present day ones are all tribal confederations so it probably makes sense to make the sections that. Is it possible to group the leagues into some of the same entries and have them in the historical table? Whether based on region, sub-ethnicity, or unifying-purpose? If they are all pretty much equally distinct from one another, it might make sense having a separate table for them.
Tbh it’s a big project to do as pretty much all states began as a confederation of tribes/clans. Alexanderkowal (talk) 22:17, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
