Infobox stats[edit]

Please note that we only include domestic league games in the infobox - so no Cup or Continental matches etc. Please also ensure that when you update the stats you also update the date, using ~~~~~. If you have any questions please ask. GiantSnowman 10:56, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I do know that and I haven’t included any Cup, Continental matches, etc.

I’ll try and remember to include the dates though Ausfootballfan (talk) 11:03, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Goalscorers tables[edit]

Hi Ausfootballfan,

Please note it is redundant to add a table of goalscorers on a page which already includes a table of "Appearances and goals", especially when it's directly after it. As you did recently on 2021–22 Brisbane Roar FC season and 2021–22 Adelaide United FC season. Kind regards, --SuperJew (talk) 11:26, 26 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SuperJew,
I disagree with your view as the table of “Appearances and goals” doesn’t list the Goalscorers in order of goals scored like a Golden boot table for example.
Kind regards,
Ausfootballfan Ausfootballfan (talk) 11:30, 26 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ausfootballfan: The table is sortable - simply clicking the title of the goals column will sort it to be in order of goals scored. And please indent your replies with the : symbol so it is easier to follow the discussion. --SuperJew (talk) 14:48, 26 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Referencing tweets[edit]

Hey, thank you for the recent update regarding Dakota leaving Adelaide United. I appreciate you adding the source in the edit summary, even though you weren't sure how to add it to the page itself. I have added it now as you can see in this edit revision. In future, you can add references to Twitter using {{cite tweet}}: "{{cite tweet|user= |number= |title= |date=}}" and fill in the values from the Tweet. In general it is recommended to have a more verifiable and reliable source than Twitter if it exists, and if it doesn't than to use a Tweet from a verified account, like you did here :) You can read the policy at WP:TWITTER. --SuperJew (talk) 08:51, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Jordon Hall[edit]

Hello, Ausfootballfan,

Thank you for creating Jordon Hall.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

needed are references significant coverage SIGCOV about this sports participant, and independent of it, in multiple secondary sources which are WP:RS; that is your guide. You may also read WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources. A more comprehensive guide is WP:SOURCES ... Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact referred to, that meet these tough criteria is likely to allow this article to remain. Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the topic is not suitable for inclusion. Kindly do the needful. Thank you.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Whiteguru}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Transfers and transfer windows[edit]

Hi. In Germany – and quite a few other countries – the summer transfer window opens on 1 July. That means transfers announced now won't come into effect until then. Similarly, contracts usually run until 30 June. That means Connor Metcalfe will not move to FC St. Pauli until 1 July and our article should reflect that. That is why I have reverted the change you made there. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 10:03, 6 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Lachlan Barr[edit]

Please make your case at the article talk page. GiantSnowman 16:43, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I am still getting used to wikipedia so I don't know how to make a post on the talk page but I do have a lot of proof for my claim. Firstly Barr's profile on the Adelaide United website mentions that he played for Adelaide City, Metrostars and White City as well as the clubs he played for interstate and abroad. There is zero mention of Modbury or Campbelltown. If you look at his career, the only way he would've been able to play for those clubs is if he played for 3 clubs in a season which is impossible. This article on Barr talks about his career and there's zero mention of him being at Campbelltown or Modbury (Link here https://www.theinnersanctum.com.au/who-is-lachlan-barr-adelaide-united-injury-replacement/). Why? Because the Lachlan Barr at those clubs is a different Lachlan Barr. Even of you look at their stats online you can see that this Lachlan Barr (stats here: https://websites.mygameday.app/team_info.cgi?action=PSTATS&pID=206640423&client=0-10180-150513-577489-26636401) played for Adelaide City on the same weekends as the other Lachlan Barr was playing for Modbury (stats here: https://websites.mygameday.app/team_info.cgi?pID=207253559) Ausfootballfan (talk) 04:21, 23 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Current squad listings for football teams[edit]

Hi,

I see you reverted my edit on Central Coast Mariners FC to add Kasalovic and Tapp to the "Current squad" list. As has been discussed at length at WT:FOOTY, players should be included in this section if they (a) have a first team shirt number, (b) have played first team football for the club in the past, or (C) do not have a number due to being new signings. There is also a view that players should be included in the team's online "current squad" list - which both Tapp and Kasalovic are (see here). This is consistent with how other WP:FA/WP:GA articles are formatted. So, fairly clear that consensus is to include these players in the current squad. Macosal (talk) 02:23, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
I understand what you are saying but that doesn't fit the precedent set for A-League pages. Players who aren't contracted and are youth players have their own section for most A-League club pages. A-League sides add youth players to their first team squad pages as soon as they make an appearance even if they aren't actually first team players, like Musa Toure at Adelaide for example. Ausfootballfan (talk) 10:31, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the response. However, the "precedent set for A-League pages" is presumably the work of one or two editors making their own calls for how they believe these sections should be set up. I'm not seeing any compelling reason why ALM squad lists should be dealt with any differently from any other football team's page. It's not our job to gatekeep the "current squad" lists based on individuals' ideas of how to set up these pages, when that contradicts how these squads are reflected by WP:RS and WP:FOOTY consensus. Jogurney (talk) 04:26, 6 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I read your note about this PROD and wanted to explain a few things. First, it is no longer true that every footballer who makes an appearance in professional football warrants a Wikipedia article. There was a RfC several months ago where it was decided to deprecate NFOOTBALL and replace it with a requirement that all biographies on sportspeople must have at least one WP:SIRS that counts toward WP:GNG. Basically, we now need to find significant coverage in secondary reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article (such as a profile by a newspaper or magazine or an entry in a book). Entries in databases like Soccerway and match reports that simply drop the player's name (or indicate he or she scored a goal, received a caution, or were injured) don't count. Nor do press releases from the player's club or league. Most interviews with the player don't count, unless the interview contains detailed prose from the interview about the subject (as opposed to a set of quotes from the subject). In the case of Kasalovic, I can't find any coverage that it SIRS (just routine/trivial stuff like this). As such, I'm going to nominate it for deletion, but I wanted to explain why. If you have questions or need help finding information about appropriate sourcing, I'd be glad to help. Best regards. Jogurney (talk) 19:22, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, Luka Jovanovic, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) • The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

Football box team links[edit]

When adding results to football boxes, please keep the team name links consistent (e.g. if it's Adelaide United's season article, don't link Adelaide United, if it isn't, then do link Adelaide United). Just don't link teams in their own seasonal page in football boxes. FastCube (talk) 08:36, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for March 2[edit]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2023–24 Central Coast Mariners FC season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Defender.

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page 2023–24 A-League Men, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

  • A bare URL error. References show this error when one of the URL-containing parameters cannot be paired with an associated title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 12:33, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
