JR's

I was hoping JR's Bar and Grill could be about the Houston gay bar specifically, but perhaps there should be a single article about all 4 locations? I know you're focused on NJ/NY bars mostly, but curious if you have thoughts on the future of this article as well. Either way, thanks again for your amazing work! I'm a fan of your contributions to Wikipedia and look forward to reading more of your entries. ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:59, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

@Another Believer: Thanks for your kind words! I agree that an article on the chain would certainly be appropriate, especially if the individual venues are notable. I've been thinking about doing the same thing for Boxers NYC, as they've had four locations in New York plus one in Philadelphia, but we've only got an article for Boxers NYC Washington Heights so far. Armadillopteryx 14:47, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
Armadillopteryx, I'm all about having separate articles for individual locations, when sourcing allows, but we should at least have entries for the notable chains when entries for specific locations may not be possible. ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:49, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
@Another Believer: Yes, I agree—that's what I was trying to say above; sorry if that got jumbled For Boxers, I want to add articles for the chain and for the other locations. It looks like the same could be done for JR's. Armadillopteryx 14:52, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for quality articles around gay bars such as Therapy (New York City), Barracuda Lounge, Headroom LGBTQ+ Lounge, for Lady Red Couture, for being a confessing wikignome, for "I am a linguist who wholeheartedly supports Wikipedia's mission ...", - you are an awesome Wikipedian!

Congrats! (and I hope you'll reconsider) Either way, thanks for your amazing contributions to Wikipedia! ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:17, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

Thanks, Another Believer. I'll continue to maintain the handful of project articles I've devoted the most time to, but I've unwatched the rest. I've not got the energy or interest to deal with outright nonsense and uncivil comments, both of which I've had my fill of from that project. I'm dealing with some things IRL and want my volunteer time on-wiki to be a source of relaxation, not stress. Armadillopteryx 16:18, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
Armadillopteryx, I totally understand. I got the impression some of the nonsense was from non-WPRPDR folks, but I am not following all of the table threads closely. You should definitely let Wikipedia but fun and enjoyable, not a taxing job, and I hope you find a good balance so you can continue to contribute. ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:55, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
@Another Believer: Yeah, it's not really internal stuff or people that are the issue; it's more the things that seem to follow the project around and keep popping up, which are hard to avoid as an active project member. I think I will try out some other areas of editing for a change of pace. Thanks for your kind words, as always. Armadillopteryx 02:14, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

The source for the 800 people supporting the extension of hours did not say that the 800 were local residents, only that 21 lived in the same building. Many of these 800 may have been customers. Rise Bar AfD nomination

Hello! The AfD nomination I made has been closed as keep, and it's clear that consensus does not agree with me. Now that it's over, I wanted to assure you that the nomination really was made in good faith. I just didn't get around to reading your response on the talk page until a few days later, and had been hoping your reply would convince me the article was notable. Since I was not convinced, I went ahead with the nomination, but had no idea the article was on the front page at the time. That really was coincidence - if I had known, I would have waited until its DYK period was up. My apologies for "spoiling" the article's moment in the sun - that must have sucked, and I do appreciate the hard work you put into the article. Happy editing! Your declaration of "unneeded" at the vegetarianism page

Your sentence says that packaged and processed foods may contain animal ingredients. What's this have to do with anything? Your sentence tries to tell us because it then says "while some vegetarians scrutinize product labels others do not object to consuming them or are unaware of their presence." So why are the vegetarians scrutinizing the product labels? For animal ingredients, which my edit of "for such ingredients" explains. Without this small clarification, your sentence just says that some vegetarians scrutinize product labels and others do not object to consuming products labels or are unaware of their presence. Unaware of the presence of product labels? My two small edits fix any ambiguity, and is grammatically correct because a comma should be between "labels" and "others". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dae kae (talkcontribs) 21:18, 28 December 2021 (UTC)

Oxford comma

A majority of American style guides mandate use of the serial comma. N US based articles, please stop deleting its use. The needless introduction of random approaches is not I think helpful. Among other things,it makes the project uglier. Thanks and happy holidays. 2603:7000:2143:8500:75BB:B7C8:29F5:DB77 (talk) 09:35, 24 November 2022 (UTC)

Hi, and thanks for your note. There are indeed many American style guides, but the one used on this site is the Wikipedia Manual of Style. Its section on the Oxford comma says: Editors may use either convention [Oxford comma or no Oxford comma] so long as each article is internally consistent. I personally choose to use it in situations where the comma is needed to reduce ambiguity or improve the flow of text, but otherwise I omit it as an unnecessary character. Typically, articles should be left with whatever convention was first introduced. Hope you have nice holidays as well! Take care, Armadillopteryx 21:19, 24 November 2022 (UTC)

Hello! Hope you're doing well. Saw you made a few edits recently and figured I'd say hi. On the off chance you're interested in taking a quick look (or completing a more extensive review), I've co-nominated Cherry Valentine for Featured article status. No worries if you're uninterested. Hey! Nice to hear from you :-) I would love to take a look at the FAC but am not sure I'll have time. I can let you know with more certainty by the end of the week. Lately I've been swamped with work IRL, but I'm trying to carve out time to sloooowly add updates to a couple of my GAs. I'll get through that first and then contribute to the FAC if there's time left.
Hope you're well and that you're enjoying the recent seasons, too! Armadillopteryx 03:14, 12 April 2023 (UTC)

‘Openly gay’

Hi, I’m still learning how Wikipedia editing works so apologies for my re-edit of the Kameron Michaels page.

Just wanted to share a link about why, in my opinion, it’s not right to use the term ‘openly gay’. https://www.advocate.com/commentary/2021/3/01/why-openly-gay-offensive-term

Thanks 😊 Aspence30 (talk) 22:09, 9 July 2023 (UTC)

As far as I remember, the "openly gay" convention had been used in the Drag Race WikiProject's articles for awhile as a way to be unambiguous that no article subject was being outed by us, but I don't have the time to look for those old discussions where this was addressed—and I see the language has changed in many articles now, anyway. I don't have a problem with you deleting "openly," but bear in mind that opinion pieces in news sources aren't, generally speaking, a solid rationale to do something a specific way on Wiki. Either way, I think the article is fine as you've left it.
Thanks for your note, and happy editing! Armadillopteryx 17:12, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

My edits to Honey Davenport

Hi! The reference I’ve used to cite part of Honey’s birth name doesn’t appear for you, but I promise that it appears for me. Is there any way I’d be able to prove this to you, and/or find a solution to the link not showing the information? Cornmazes (talk) 21:26, 3 July 2023 (UTC)

Hey! I believe you if you say it shows up for you, but it's a verifiability issue if the info isn't readily available when someone else clicks the source link. Are you able to make an archived version of the page that shows the info? I'm not sure if it will show up in the Web Archive if it's just a dynamic search page, but you could try: http://web.archive.org/ Armadillopteryx 21:31, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
Hi, I only just saw this, sorry! Wikipedia decided not to notify me of your response.. I’ll try my best! Cornmazes (talk) 04:35, 20 July 2023 (UTC)
