What camera did you use for your picture of Noel Coward? It's really good; it looks like it was taken recently. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.150.132.20 (talk) 23:10, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A small bouquet[edit]

As one who keeps using in Wikipedia articles the images you have generously donated, please let me tell you how grateful I am. They are marvellous, and Wikipedia is so lucky to have them. Best wishes! Tim riley (talk) 15:29, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

May I impose on you further? I have been overhauling the article on Georg Solti and have of course used both your images of him (well, who wouldn't!). But may I ask which of the two images you think would be better at the top of the article, with the other in the 1970s section below? Tim riley (talk) 21:27, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Amanda thank you very much and to anybody else that has left a message here. Am so useless, it has taken me until now how to work out how to reply to comments on this page ..so thank you! User:Allan warren

I'm trying to add some relevant categories to David Ward's image. Could you confirm that this is the Scottish bass-baritone born in 1922 who sang a lot of Wagner? -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 10:57, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the photos[edit]

Thanks for uploading your very many excellent photographs; they're a very welcome, important and fairly vast contribution to Wikipedia. I take my hat off to you and warmly applaud your generosity. I'll join with others who are working to categorise them and see that as many as possible placed on articles. Thank you again. --Tagishsimon (talk) 01:48, 5 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Tools and statistics for Allan Warren uploads[edit]

Allan, I've spent a few days further categorising your images, and thought you might be interested in some tools and statistics.

You've uploaded 815 images to date. A total of 361 of those are being used on Wikipedia articles of all languages; in total 2,271 copies of your images are in use across all Wikipedia languages. There's obvious scope for much more image use as other language versions of Wikipedia catch on to the fact that the English Wikipedia has images available. And, indeed, there is still plenty of scope for reuse of the images on a range of as yet unvisited English Wikipedia pages.

The hold-on-to-your-hat part of the statistics is, pages on which your images now reside were viewed 9,538,810 times in the month of September 2012 alone. Your most viewed image is Sir_Roger_Moore_Allan_Warren.jpg, used on 42 pages, which was viewed 569,056 times. You can reckon on, easily, 150 million pairs of eyeballs on your images per annum on current reckoning; and many more than that as images percolate across the language versions.

As to tools, let me introduce you to:

  • Category:Photographs by Allan Warren - you're probably familiar with, the most basic list of your uploads.
  • User uploads, a rather pedestrian table of your images
  • Gallery with various sort options
  • Gallery tool - another gallery, slightly different user interface
  • GLAMorous - Number of images used in each language Wikipedia, a list of pages using each image, and the number of page-views per image per month. Source of the statistics above. May take a good while to load the page. (Currently set to show September 2012 stats ... you can select other time periods for stats).

best wishes --Tagishsimon (talk) 02:07, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A quick begging message![edit]

Hi Allan, I've come round scrounging in the hope that you have a couple of images you'd be prepared to upload, if at all possible. We've been updating a few articles relating to English actors recently (we got Peter Sellers up to FA level and your image of him sits atop the page) and we're currently working on two articles where we are struggling to find images. The first of these is John Le Mesurier, who we hope to put up for Featured Article status shortly, while the second is Bernard Lee, which we are working on at the moment. Did you ever take any pictures of these two 'secondary cast' actors? If so, would you be able to upload to WikiCommons? I will understand entirely if you are not in a position to release them: your generosity in sharing a number of other images really is quite exceptional and I would not like to abuse it by stretching it to breaking point! Many thanks and all the best - SchroCat (talk) 19:42, 27 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
