I was about to tag that with {{nonsense}} when you went and deleted it from under me *shrugs* Whispering(talk/c) 23:52, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dosayev's Finance dates[edit]

Thanks for adding Dosayev's term dates as Finance Minister, but please remember to do them as references in the future. Thanks, KazakhPol 23:54, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy tags[edit]

Hi there; how is it that you can move so much faster than me? That is now five times this evening that I have tagged articles only to find that you have deleted them (justifiably, I hasten to say) while I have been tagging them!!--Anthony.bradbury 21:07, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't mean or imply that you were wrong; clearly not. But I am doing nothing right now except NP patrolling, and you still keep beating me to it!!--Anthony.bradbury 21:11, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I know about nonsense articles; I NP patrol 2 or 3 hours daily (and caught the last two nonsense pages before you did). Good luck with the exam. My exams are in the remote past.--Anthony.bradbury 21:18, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Terrorism in Kazakhstan[edit]

Yerlan Idrisov[edit]

Please provide the source, as a reference, for Yerlan Idrisov's birthdate. If his time in office is also there, please remove the citation needed template. Thanks, KazakhPol 18:43, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you delete the article on the Kazakhstan National Anthem from the Borat movie?

Thanks for helping with my Rocky Knob entries, however, I am concerned that your changes could create some confusion down the road. In Georgia, there are 8 different summits with the name "Rocky Knob." The reason I have been using somewhat tortured names like Rocky Knob (AT in Georgia) is that I am trying to help keep the various Georgia peaks separate. I suppose one of the peaks could be called Rocky Knob (Georgia), but I am not sure whether the one you selected is any more deserving that any other Georgia "Rocky Knob." Tlmclain 21:23, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting suggestion regarding dealing with the Rocky Knob problem in Georgia - it may work well. I have done the same thing with Rocky Mountain (Georgia). Thanks. Tlmclain 02:10, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question about user names[edit]

Hi, so what are the guidelines for user names like Dennis Kussinich 08?

WP:USERNAME says:

Wikipedia recommends that users avoid
  1. names of politicians, military or religious figures or events;
  2. any other names that may be seen as potentially offensive, or endorsing or opposing the politics, policies or beliefs of a public figure.

What is the policy when someone registers a user name that matches (or almost matches) the name of a public figure like Dennis Kucinich? -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 01:11, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It seemed borderline to me; I just wasn't sure what (if anything) to do about it. If I'd noticed it when the account was created, disallowing it would have been easier. It's harder to justify after several weeks of activity. Thanks for the pointer to WP:AN. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 03:14, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

u deleted my entry for "wanga"...that article is straight up fact

hey man[edit]

Why did you delete that page? that stuff was true, you can ask the man anthony pagano himself, this site is censoring too much, you can't prove that information is innacurate.

inflamatory?[edit]

inflammatory-Having to do with inflammation (redness, swelling, pain, and a feeling of heat that helps protect tissues affected by injury or disease).

your comment makes no sense

ps its spelled inflammatory.

hey[edit]

My name is Anthony Pagano.

I am a gay porn star and do not understand why you would remove my page. It was simply added by the president of my fan club, so that people could find out more information about me. This would help me out cause after seeing one of my movies, many people want to see the rest. Please put my page back up.

Also, learn english you retard.

Disneyland[edit]

Should I revert the edits and try to talk to him? Or should I just try to talk to him? I'd reverted his edits once and said that he should try to follow wikipedia standards in my edit, but either he didn't notice or didn't care, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of a doubt and say it was the former.

But I don't think the Disneyland article, as it is presently, is appropriate to Wikipedia.--Vercalos 08:05, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alright. Thank you.--Vercalos 08:09, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yao Ming[edit]

Funny how you call removing racist lies from Yao's page vandalism. I'm simply cleaning up the vandalism that was done when that garbage was put on there in the first place.

Oh, the talk page itself says, "This article must adhere to the policy on biographies of living persons. Controversial material of any kind that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately, especially if potentially libelous." That book that was written consists of pure lies. One may interpret his motives in whatever ways, I think he's trying to bring down Yao because he can't stand the thought of a Chinese man dominating the NBA. But the fact remains that the book is false and should not be regarded as a credible source.

Vandalism blocks[edit]

Hello... apologies for my naivety, but I'm a bit confused? You removed the listings on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism, even though it doesn't appear that all of the listings were blocked? For example, the listing I just put up still is not blocked? I'm just trying to understand the process... :) --Wolf530 03:21, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, that clarifies it for me. However, I'd like to challenge the oversight on 206.176.81.7. As you can see from this person's contribs, (and block log), this is clearly a chronic problem with this IP address, and it was active within the last 12 hours. None of the contribs in the last 48 hours have been followed-up on with another talk-template because the person clearly already got their "last warning." I'm not trying to be a pest, but clearly this person is not contributing in a positive manner, and I don't think it necessary for us to keep following up when we haven't seen one good edit yet. We're just risking further vandalism. --Wolf530 03:34, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the follow-up. I appreciate the help -- wikistress just dropped ;) --Wolf530 03:52, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

November Esperanza Newsletter[edit]

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.
Signed...
Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

DEM[edit]

You have deleted this article without any justification whatsoever. I had just created the article and was out looking to gather the rest of the information to put there. If you have a doubt about the factual accuracy of the fact that this person is an undergraduate of the said university, please follow this link: [4] If your problem is about the significance of this person, in order to dedicate a Wikipedia article, well, all I can say is you have not left room for me or any other person to provide that information. (I doubt it very much that even if provided, you'd take a good look at it) Since you seem so full of yourself, I'd like you to have a look at this article [5], just so that you understand that you being the perpetual-editor/deletor does not make you more important than any odd contributor.

Your actions clearly amounts to vandalism. --Daham.wick 06:09, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I know. I found the article, and it's a textbook example of a vanity article. At least it would be if they wrote textbooks about such things. – ClockworkSoul 06:07, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And just what article is that. if I may know? --Daham.wick 06:14, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That would be the deleted article entitled "DEM". It contained the text "DEM (b. 1984) is an undergraduate student at the Singapore Management University.". Please understand, we have a policy that requires that topics must meet a minimum threshold of notability, importance, or significance in order for an article on that topic to remain on Wikipedia. Regular people like you and I don't meet that standard. – ClockworkSoul 06:18, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is not my intention to engage in a flame-war with any one of you too-eager-to-delete-administrators. I've provided you with an external article which I hoped would enlighten you on the consequences your actions may have on the Wikipedia. When you have time, I hope you'd bother to read it. --Daham.wick 06:31, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reed's Ginger Brew[edit]

Eh, I don't mind you deleting the Brew page. I didn't care much about it anyway and was trying to quickly write something.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_states_in_the_Holy_Roman_Empire Take a little look at what you're reverting to.

Second opinion[edit]

Hey, I saw you were out and about patrolling and admining it up, so I figured I'd stop in and look for a second opinion. Would you mind taking a peak at BodyPump (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)? I started out reverting what seemed to be just blanking vandalism by an IP. Then after a few reverts, Pipera (talk · contribs) took over for the IP and started leaving comments in place of what was being blanked such as [6], but then mostly it was just blanking. I then cited it [7] (yeah, not the most reliable of sources, but, I work with what I can find), but Pipera is back to it. Pipera's latest blanking/commentary is this set of three edits (in one dif) [8]. I've stopped and tried to communicate on the user's talk page, but gotten nothing yet.

So what went from what I thought was simple vandalism is now looking like a serious issue of ownership. Would you be so kind as to take a look and offer an opinion to a newbie admin? Thanks, Metros 06:29, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Social activist, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and "Wikipedia is not for things made up in school one day"). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:Social activist. You may remove the deletion notice, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. Bytebear 07:41, 27 November 2006 (UTC).[reply]

I see that you just reverted an edit made by this anonymous user to the William Blake's mythology article. I am sure you already know this, being an administrator and all, but he needs a stiff warning placed on his talk page, considering that he is a return vandal who just came off a 1 month block. Right back to his old tricks. Thanks. ---Charles 22:43, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I quite understand---this has been a terrible day for vandalism and the creation of nonsense articles. Thanks for your time, and your quick response. ---Charles 22:52, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Obsolete redirecting page???[edit]

Contrary to your implicit assertion when you speedy del'd w/o providing another justification, "Obsolete redirecting page" is not a WP:CSD. (And while perhaps you were distracted from attention to the facts by your emotional reaction to the low quality of the deleted material, Antikithera mechanism is far from G3, "... an implausible typo ...", but the spelling most likely to be used first by a careful non-specialist listener such as myself.) I encourage you to at least better document your speedies, even if you don't need a CSD review.

Re: Marc Lepine vandal[edit]

Hi;

You removed my report on the vandal that is constantly altering the Marc Lepine page because you said it wasn't appropriate for AIV. Could you please advise me on where I should report this so that the situation can be remedied? Thanks. ChaoticGhost 03:52, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I'm still confused. (As previously mentioned) this person has a history of systematically vandalizing that page. In addition, the IP addresses he uses have been temporarily blocked in the past for repeated vandalism. Could you please clarify why this obvious and consistent vandalism wasn't appropriate for the AIV, and where I should report it instead?

Sincere thanks,

ChaoticGhost 04:38, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the advice! I'll try that, then... probably tomorrow :)

question about blocking vandalism[edit]

hi - I'm not clear what happened about user User:66.172.174.2 and would like to understand the process so I know how to proceed another time. This IP has been warned and blocked several times, and there is a notice on the user talk page that the account is subject to immediate block without further warning if they vandalize again. They vandalized twice today on Amish, so I clicked through on the advisory and listed them, but I see you removed them and I'm not clear on whether they are blocked or not. So could you tell me what the deal is, and if I should have handled it differently? Thanks Tvoz 04:19, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, your call - I just wanted to be sure I had proceeded properly. thanks Tvoz 04:27, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Academic Challanger: Good grief! I probably have not been hanging out in the "wrong places," but I've never seen such an attack on an article. I just followed one of those idiots to the article and started trying to clean the whole mess up. I'm glad you're on it. Is that kind of attack common? --Tlmclain | Talk 22:36, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Academic Challanger: Again, I'm glad you and others are on it. I couldn't keep up. There must be a full moon or something. Seems like there's a lot going on. Here's a IP you may want to look at: 205.155.8.6 --Tlmclain | Talk 23:02, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Toolserver is down[edit]

And so is AntiVandalBot. User:Tawkerbot4 is running, but it has rather limited capacity in comparison. On the bright side, half of our db servers are down, so half the vandalism can be saved :o -- Tawker 00:36, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the consideration[edit]

Thank you for the consideration of blocking User:203.101.61.7. One of the reasons you cited was that this editor provides some good edits. It caused me to rethink my decision. Of the last 19 edits made since November 20, twelves of them were vandalism. Of those, 85% of them were vulgar: placing pictures of a penis on the Karl Marx page with a cute saying, various cock sucking to many of the Mormon pages. I have always been impressed with the idea that Wikipedia does not make strict rules to guide every action; for example, the seven day blocking incurred by this same editor on the 27 November by Ilmari Karonen without any block notices. I would assume that when a large majority of an editor's edits are vandalism and of those they are highly vulgar and offensive and they four recent edits were all vandalism shortly after a one week block, it would be an easy decision to block. Do you really think that having an editor that produces a postive contribution 37% of the time is valuable? Interesting. Storm Rider (talk) 07:44, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am not too concerned about it; it is just a difference of opinion. I have a strong distaste for any form of blatant vandalism, but vulgarity on an encyclopedia is typically a sure sign that an individual lacks the maturity necessary to be participating actively. This editor is not consistently active, so they are only a minor nuisance. If you could watch them for the next few days, I am certain, given their history, they will vandalize again. I still appreciate your efforts. Cheers. Storm Rider (talk) 07:59, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Austin Hedges"[edit]

you recently deleted the page titled "Austin Hedges". i see no reasoning for this. he is a legitimate, documented leader in a legitimate cause, Straight Edge. can you provide more information about this deletion? -Steve Straightxedge 23:21, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Re: Austin Hedges"[edit]

The page created was a collaborated effort, so it is possible that he could have been presented in a better way. On the contrary, if you watch such documentaries as "Dark Planet: Visions of America" and "I've Got The Straight Edge", you will see the works of Mr. Hedges himself. He was also mentioned in the book "Punk: A History", being put on the same level as people like Nathan Strejek (one of the men credited with the creation of sXe). If you give me and my team time, we can make a very credible page about Mr. Hedges. -Steve and the straight edge team at Team Empire. Straightxedge 01:14, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Re: Austin Hedges[edit]

Yes, one of the documentaries is widely available. Here is the link for the films website: http://www.darkplanetfilms.com/. Since this is an independent film, it's not likely to be found in your local Blockbuster video store, but it is available for purchase on that site. There is also a Wikipedia page about the film itself, created by a user unrelated to my team. The link for that is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Planet:_Visions_of_America. We are unsure about the availability of the other mentioned documentary, but it has been available for purchase online in the past. With your blessing, we would really like to begin the drafting phase of a new article to honor Mr. Hedges and what he has done for our cause. -Steve Straightxedge 01:27, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Creation of new "Austin Hedges" page[edit]

Thank you for agreeing to give us another shot. Here is what we were able to create on short notice: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin_Hedges.

Please review the site and tell us if it meets your standards, and if there is anything you think we could do to make it better

Thank you, Steve Straightxedge 02:32, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Creation of A.H.[edit]

I will get to those typographical errors as soon as I can. Since we have been our of contact with Mr. Hedges for a lenghty amount of time, we have been unable to get specfic facts like those you have asked for. We are having trouble finding legal paperwork that would tell us Mr. Hedges' exact DOB. We will work on regaining connection with Mr. Hedges and fixing/updating this page as soon as we can.

Thank You, Steve Straightxedge 02:32, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
