What examples are there for secondary sources aiming at this locomotive? 121.45.243.24 (talk) 07:11, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You tell me, you are the one trying to write about this locomotive. Any article about it must primarily summarize what independent reliable sources say about it. For example. Maine Central 470, or M-497 Black Beetle. If there are no independent sources that discuss this locomotive and what makes it notable, it would not merit a Wikipedia article. 331dot (talk) 07:18, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I am trying to write an article on this locomotive and Why are you asking that?, is it illegal for us I.P. users to create articles or even write a draft for an article?
Is this article secondary?: https://utahrails.net/sp/sp-retirements-metzger.php 121.45.243.24 (talk) 07:30, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also, for the article Southern Pacific 1518 there is in fact only one source, which means that it needs more sources. 121.45.243.24 (talk) 07:32, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You using an IP is completely irrelevant, I would be saying this if Jimmy Wales himself wrote the draft. Thanks for pointing out another problematic article, which I have now marked; as this is a volunteer project where people do what they can when they can, it is possible to get inappropriate articles past us, this does not mean that more should be added. We can only address what we know about. Please see other stuff exists.
The source you link to is independent, but it doesn't have significant coverage of the locomotive- and it's also hard to know if that website is a reliable source with a reputation of fact checking and editorial control. 331dot (talk) 07:48, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Are you a railfan, or are you associated with the museum that holds this locomotive? 331dot (talk) 07:50, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I do have interest in any locomotive in general, if that's the case, then yes, I am a railfan (not a railfan who constantly takes photos or videos of trains), I am more of a historian. 121.45.243.24 (talk) 11:08, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
