Who to talk to
{{User:ClueBot III/ArchiveNow}} Hi, please, who do you talk to when an editor uses racist words on another editor?. Thank you -- Robertjamal12 (talk) 22:19, 30 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Robertjamal12: Hi, sorry that you've experienced that - you should report this to any active admins or to WP:ANI. Where did this happen, I can take a look now ~TheresNoTime (to explain!) 16:57, 31 October 2021 (UTC)

Socks with Blocks
{{User:ClueBot III/ArchiveNow}} Hi TheresNoTime, back in July you CU blocked Bhuvanhungund – I'm guessing they were part of one of the paid outfits that promote Internet celebrities, per their creation log. Bhuvanhungund01 is clearly the same user, based on their creation log (Nischay Malhan being the same person as Triggered Insaan), as well as the user names. I'm not sure if I should open an SPI – I don't know who the sockmaster would be, if Bhuvanhungund was also a sock, and I think Bhuvanhungund is probably stale by now. That Bhuvanhungund and Bhuvanhungund01 are one and the same is obvious, so maybe it would be possible simply to block the 01 account? Ah yes, and then there's the fact that the owner/uploader of the photo on 01's user page is another blocked user. What a tangled web they weave. Best, --bonadea contributions talk 14:35, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- Hey Bonadea, good spot - I checked Bhuvanhungund01 and confirmed them to Bhuvanhungund (not always as stale as they look..). I logged this at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Bhuvanhungund, which may be the original master but we can't really be sure. I prefer to log something though, just for the record. Thanks for letting me know! ~TheresNoTime (to explain!) 14:59, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- Excellent – thanks! --bonadea contributions talk 15:12, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
Hello
{{User:ClueBot III/ArchiveNow}} Please explain how testing things is considered vandalism.Hellhound34 (talk) 17:21, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Hellhound34: Hi, welcome to Wikipedia - you're more than welcome to test things out, but we have specific places for you to do that, such as the sandbox (or, alternatively, your own personal sandbox). Testing things out anywhere else could disrupt people, and I'm sure you don't want that 😁 ~TheresNoTime (to explain!) 17:24, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

Notification of template substitution
{{User:ClueBot III/ArchiveNow}}
Greetings, TheresNoTime. You are receiving this notification because you've agreed to consider endorsing prospective admin candidates identified by the process outlined at Administrators without tools. Recently, the following editor(s) received this distinction and the associated endearing title: | |

TolBot | Talk | Owner 03:54, 2 November 2021 (UTC)
- Hello TheresNoTime. I just wanted to thank you for opting-in to receive these notifications. This is the first bot-notification of the trial now in progress. In this case, the notification is a bit late as the goal is to have them posted within 24 hours of the original message. I anticipate that things will improve over time. I'd like to reiterate that you are under no obligation to endorse this or any posted message although you are certainly welcome if you are so inclined. In considering an endorsement, you have fulfilled what was asked of you opting-in. I won't be messaging you in the future when this notification posts, and don't mean to encroach on you now. I am messaging you this time for two reasons; first: because this is the beginning of the trial and I did want to send you my thanks. And, second: because I wanted to tell you about another editor I messaged (without using the template) but you may know this former admin whose tools were removed for inactivity (not under a cloud) and again, you are certainly welcome to consider endorsing that message as well. It is on the talk page of user:Toddst1[1]. I wish you the best and thank you again.--John Cline (talk) 06:15, 2 November 2021 (UTC)
- My pleasure John Cline, and a big thank you for the great idea - we need more admins! ~TheresNoTime (to explain!) 06:36, 2 November 2021 (UTC)
Huh?
Hello, TNT,
There were 3 editors involving pages moves with Cyclones Rona and Frank. I can't figure out if this was a plan or if there was anything strange going on here in the cyclone/hurricane area. I'm hoping you can clear this up because I'm a bit confused. Thanks! Liz Read! Talk! 01:45, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Just asked someone involved and a page move got botched after an RM closed, so a few people, including TNT, chatted to fix it and complete the RM. Nott too strange for the cyclone area in all honesty :) Sennecaster (Chat) 02:26, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Liz: I do wish people would check before they move eh.. seems to have just been a misunderstanding though ~TheresNoTime (to explain!) 14:29, 5 November 2021 (UTC)
User Universal1314
Hi TheresNoTime. I saw you blocked Universal1314 (talk · contribs). Is there any info available on this? I'd suspected the account of paid editing and was expecting to follow up before you stepped in. Thanks for the help! --Hipal (talk) 01:05, 5 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Hipal: Hey, I normally try to log/tag when I do these, but I was short on time for this - have updated Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/SPWTulsaOK1213 and tagged the account. Does this help? ~TheresNoTime (to explain!) 14:34, 5 November 2021 (UTC)
- I was expecting an undisclosed paid editor working on a large number of BLPs, likely from a job request board or tied to a paid editing group. I'm not sure what to make of this. Thank you. --Hipal (talk) 16:00, 5 November 2021 (UTC)
Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- Mobile IP editors are now able to receive warning notices indicating they have a talk page message on the mobile website (similar to the orange banners available on desktop). These notices will be displayed on every page outside of the main namespace and every time the user attempts to edit. The notice on desktop now has a slightly different colour. [2][3]
Changes later this week
- Wikidata will be read-only for a few minutes on 11 November. This will happen around 06:00 UTC. This is for database maintenance. [4]
- There is no new MediaWiki version this week.
Future changes
- In the future, unregistered editors will be given an identity that is not their IP address. This is for legal reasons. A new user right will let editors who need to know the IPs of unregistered accounts to fight vandalism, spam, and harassment, see the IP. You can read the suggestions for how that identity could work and discuss on the talk page.

Hello, dear TNT,
Should I just assume that any editor who tries to create an article or draft about Missa Sinfonía is a sockpuppet of Peluches extronidos? I can be a little dense on spotting sockpuppets. I thought I had protected all of the possible varieties of this YouTuber's name in main space and draft space but these sockpuppets keep finding a way to recreate an article on them. I guess another red flag is that the article.always.looks.exactly.the.same. Hope you are well! Liz Read! Talk! 02:53, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Liz, sorry for the delay, its been a busy few days travelling and the such! It looks like MojonLoko has already been Confirmed as a sock, but I'd say yes to assuming that any new editor attempting to re-create an article/draft about Missa Sinfonía is a sockpuppet (minding WP:AGF of course, but I struggle to think of a legitimate reason someone would at this point..) ~TheresNoTime (to explain!) 17:25, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
Filipino sock
Drags4U was created a little over a week ago. He almost immediately started voting on different AfDs. A little later he created a new SPI. Still later, he filed a report at an existing SPI. I suspect he is ParillasAndrie, but I don't feel I have enough behavioral evidence to block him without technical confirmation. Also, it doesn't help that there are many Filipino sockmasters he could be. Could you take a look? Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 03:26, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
- Hey @Bbb23, I'm currently taking off from Gatwick airport - probably not the best idea to CheckUser while flying! - but happy to take a look when I land 🙂 ~TheresNoTime (to explain!) 12:39, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
probably not the best idea to CheckUser while flying!
... Coward. /s -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 18:51, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
- ToBeFree blocked Drags4U as a sock puppet of SeanJ 2007. Sean was one of the first users I thought might be the master, but I decided against it, partly because Drags4U uses only a mobile platform and Sean never does (AFAIK), and partly because of Drags4U's userpage, which is similar to some of the socks of ParillasAndrie. I still think a check would be useful.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:14, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
- Oh, there was a discussion about this already. Thanks for the ping. If they're not SeanJ 2007, they're someone who has done their best to imitate them using account creation vs. block date timing, creating an SPI that matches Special:Diff/1053842028/1053853887, verbatim-copying their comment in the first deletion discussion participated in, creating a silly SPI against a soft-blocked editor after being blocked for creating bad SPIs, and using userspace JavaScript inclusions. An elaborate troll job, or simply SeanJ 2007. Using a mobile data connection after never having used a smartphone for editing Wikipedia would explain why they have been easily able to make comments from both accounts within time windows that would have triggered an autoblock. Whoever it is – I didn't tag them yet because I don't want to blame someone for a troll job – the block was definitely necessary. There could be sleepers, especially as I messaged them an hour before identifying and blocking them, so they had time to do so even using the same IP address. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 00:23, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
- It's good to see admins doing their homework. :-) --Bbb23 (talk) 00:26, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
- I'd also been meaning to look further into Drags vs. Sean today before seeing that ToBe had blocked, with my only reservation being, well, to be blunt, a slightly higher degree of skill at disguising than I would have expected from Sean. I concur that a check could still be useful, if only because this will have a bearing on Sean's inevitable third unblock request. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 01:09, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
- @ToBeFree: Given subsequent developments (User:Blablubbs' block of VladimirBoys as an MRY sock), I'm starting to think your alternate hypothesis of a joe job was right and that perhaps the VladimirBoys and Drags4U accounts were created as part of the same trolling effort to cause a bunch of added confusion in the always-confusing, always-sock-heavy Philippine TV topic area. SeanJ's subsequent posts on his talk page demonstrate, well, a level of technical cluelessness that I think it would be hard to fake (among other things, asking if his IP can be un-autoblocked). Meanwhile some of Drags4U's edits show, as I alluded to before, a higher degree of subtlety than I would expect from Sean—theming the account around an interest in Drag Race, a topic which AFAIK Sean has never edited, as well as !voting against Sean's nom at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of former GMA Artist Center artists. I'm far from confident that Sean won't sock (his account is itself a sock he chose to abandon his previous account for), but I don't think this is a sock of his. And I'd like to know your opinion since, without a sockblock on his record, he stands a decent chance at an unblock if he gains some clue; whereas with Drags4U considered a sock of his, any unblock would probably be an OFFER one. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 23:27, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you very much, Tamzin, for the detailed analysis and the ping. I'm fine with assuming that SeanJ 2007 has not created the account Drags4U, as I simply can't know. All I can provide is the detailed reasoning for blocking Drags4U written above. In Special:Diff/1055026545, I have now clarified this towards SeanJ 2007, hopefully resolving understandable confusion from their side. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 11:14, 13 November 2021 (UTC)

) But yeah, I love it here, even when it gets chilly in the offseason. Although if Sam just wanted to see Victorian homes, she could have stayed closer to home. A few years ago I was in Llandudno and was outright disoriented for a second when I saw its central promenade and momentarily thought I'd been teleported back to Cape May. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 03:13, 12 November 2021 (UTC)- Well, Tamzin, I was NwJerseyLiz in 2007 back when internet companies use to drop vowels from their names. Like Twitter was initially Twittr. But people didn't get that and so they thought it stood for Northwest Jersey Liz. I became Liz when I discovered that User:Liz had created an account but never edited so I was able to usurp the account name. It was simpler, easier to remember. I lived in New Jersey for 20 years but circumstances changed and I moved to the actual Northwest in 2016. But I still miss New Jersey! - @Liz: Heh, I never knew that's why it was "Nw". Clever.
:D
I, on the other hand, always had my eye on a username for my first name, but someone already had the username for my birth name. Some time after I changed my name to Tamzin, it occurred to me one day to check whether that name was usurpable, and I was excited to find it was! (If I'd gone with my first-choice spelling, Tamsin, not sure what I would have done, since that username is taken. But people always mispronounced it when reading it off of something, so I switched from ess to zee early on.) -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 23:27, 12 November 2021 (UTC)

ReFill
Hi! Firstly, thanks for this - may come in handy. On to ReFill, this is a role that I have reluctantly stepped into through lack of other volunteers. It started when ReFill was getting stuck regularly and I found myself using Phabricator to log issues and help troubleshooting and talking to the cloud service folks on IRC. I used to be a .NET developer, and can pick up other languages and dev stacks reasonably readily. What I am having difficulty with right now is the webpack node module, where I had installed the latest version 5.58.2 but was getting 'TypeError: Cannot read property 'tap' of undefined'. This seems to be a common issue and one workaround is to revert to v4. I think I have correctly done that but am still getting the error. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 17:45, 19 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Curb Safe Charmer: No worries - as for ReFill, I thought it was still actively maintained, but I suppose the recent commits to GitHub have all been from "translatewiki".. Do you now have access to the repo? Leave this with me, and I'll get it running locally again this evening (UK time) and report back ~TheresNoTime (to explain!) 17:51, 19 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Curb Safe Charmer: Just an update, I've got it running 'fresh' from https://github.com/zhaofengli/refill (though my setup is fairly different to the steps listed there). I've documented this at User:TheresNoTime/ReFill. Not done any dependency updates yet though ~TheresNoTime (to explain!) 18:51, 19 October 2021 (UTC)
- Well that looks about 100 times simpler to what I had set up! I will aim to replicate your setup in the next day or two. Thanks! Re access to the repo, Zhaofeng Li had sent me an invite, which I had accepted, but I don't think that conferred me any particular rights. I have emailed him this evening to ask him to check. Hello I was doing some edits here, and came across this page about a company called "Surf Office". It seems to have been made as an advertisement. Adminship
Hello!
I've just asked another administrator, (Worm That Turned) and so I'll ask you this question too (since I need more advice into becoming one, and more thoughts on this.) Am I ready to become an administrator? You may give me suggestions as to how I can improve and what steps do I take to becoming one. Thank you!
Other questions:
- Is 1,700 edits still enough to qualify for becoming an administrator?
- Is 1 year fine to become an administrator?
- What do I need to improve on?
Again, thank you!
Severestorm28 (talk) 00:28, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Severestorm28 Not TNT, but am admin. There is no set number of edits to be an admin. Now, it certainly plays a role. I became an admin with just a bit over 10,000 edits and about 2 years active tenure. But I probably could have done it earlier. For me, I was able to do it with less edits because I had produced some good quality content and been fairly involved behind the scenes. I think you could probably run for adminship in even just 6 months, assuming that you could get either a few Wikipedia:Good articles or one Wikipedia:Featured article. But if writing content is not your strong suit, you would need to probably wait a longer period and rack up more edits overall. If you'd like some help/advice in taking something to GA or FA, let me know and I'll see if I can help. Smooth sailing, CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 00:37, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
- @CaptainEek: Thank you for your advice. I'll see if I can get at least 3 good articles and 1 featured article. Also, 2 quick questions:
- Is it possible to nominate right now?
- Can you still be an administrator regardless of age?
Again, thank you for your kind advice. Severestorm28 (talk) 00:41, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Severestorm28 Well if you can get one FA, no need for some GAs. But the general process is GA -> FA. I mean, you could run right now. But you almost certainly wouldn't get it. But don't give up hope, all things take time. I see you've only really become an active editor in the last month or two, so given a year of that sort of editing (or even just a third of) you would be in a good place to run. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 00:47, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
- @CaptainEek: Thanks for your advice. The advice has really helped me. Again, thanks. Severestorm28 (talk) 00:48, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
- Oh, and yes you can be an admin at any age. But I wouldn't go around telling folks your age either. Let the maturity of your work speak for itself. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 00:48, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you so much! Severestorm28 (talk) 00:49, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Severestorm28: Thanks for the message I can only echo the sage advice you've gotten from CaptainEek - keep up the good work! -- TNT (talk • she/they) 00:51, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Severestorm28: You may wish to peruse this. It's just the reflection of a retired admin and experienced user. But IMHO it's not way out of line with what a lot of experienced editors look for at RfA. Best regards... -Ad Orientem (talk) 01:03, 3 December 2021 (UTC)

Problems
- MediaWiki 1.38-wmf.11 was scheduled to be deployed on some wikis last week. The deployment was delayed because of unexpected problems.
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 7 December. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 8 December. It will be on all wikis from 9 December (calendar).
- At all Wikipedias, a Mentor Dashboard is now available at
Special:MentorDashboard
. It allows registered mentors, who take care of newcomers' first steps, to monitor their assigned newcomers' activity. It is part of the Growth features. You can learn more about activating the mentor list on your wiki and about the mentor dashboard project. - The predecessor to the current MediaWiki Action API (which was created in 2008),
action=ajax
, will be removed this week. Any scripts or bots using it will need to switch to the corresponding API module. [5] - An old ResourceLoader module,
jquery.jStorage
, which was deprecated in 2016, will be removed this week. Any scripts or bots using it will need to switch tomediawiki.storage
instead. [6]

Nomination for Adminship?
Hello,
Pleased to e-meet you, TNT! Happy Adminship Anniversary to you(looks like I missed by a day. ^_^)
I was thinking about whether it is the right time for me to request for adminship? I'm currently in [[7]], which haven't been active for over 6 months, but I plan to resume sometime this month. I've been routinely doing AfC for the last week or so. I haven't been that active lately due to health/personal reasons, but I feel better now so I will be active now from here onwards. So, I would like to know whether I can request for adminship? Or whether it is too early? If it is too early, I would like to know what areas I can improve? Also, feel free to criticize me or guide me if I am doing anything wrong. I am open to any kind of constructive criticism and willing to improve myself.
Looking forward to hearing from you, whenever you have time. :)

- @QuantumRealm: Hi, thanks for the message - I took a quick look at your contributions before looking at your user page. I have to strongly recommend that you remove this section - the public airing of grievances such as this are really not conducive to a collaborative working environment, regardless of how valid your concerns may be -- TNT (talk • she/they) 23:21, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
- @TNT I have removed that section as per your suggestion. Any feedback on my contributions, and other areas to improve? :)
- I really appreciate your time and your valuable suggestions as well. QuantumRealm (meow • pawtrack) 05:46, 7 December 2021 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) As it stands, I highly doubt you would pass an RfA for at least eight months to a year. As much as people like to say that 3-5000 edits are sufficient for adminship, most applicants have >10,000. However, quality is always more important than quantity, but I'm not seeing any major content work which is usually what helps alleviate the editcountitis opposers. You have a "successful" SPI counter on your userpage, but you haven't done much countervandalism for months, so I don't see an RfA passing on the back of wanting to block vandals. I think an important question you need to ask yourself is what you'd actually want out of adminship. If you want to work in NPP (article management), then you're going to need to familiarise yourself with the AfD process and speedy deletion criteria. As it stands, most of your AfD !votes are pile-on deletions which doesn't demonstrate much to the editors that will be judging you. I hope these pointers help. Regards, Anarchyte (talk) 09:49, 7 December 2021 (UTC)
- Anarchyte Thank you for your valuable feedback, yes I will wait for one more year, try to be more active, familiarize myself with NPP, and resume fighting with vandals. I totally agree with your points. Thank you once again. ^_^ QuantumRealm (meow • pawtrack) 18:08, 7 December 2021 (UTC)
- @QuantumRealm: I can't put it any better than Anarchyte - the best rule of thumb I've found for "it's time to run the gauntlet" is when people often mistake you for an admin keep on keeping on, and thank you for your contributions to date - they are really appreciated! -- TNT (talk • she/they) 18:21, 7 December 2021 (UTC)
- @TheresNoTime: Thank you so much! I will keep that in mind. ^_^ Thank you for your contributions too. QuantumRealm (meow • pawtrack) 18:23, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled
A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:07, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

RFA notes
I am not reading the supports/opposes today, and do not plan to do so until the RFA is over. (Moving the "votes" to a sub-page so the candidate can be more reasonably expected not to read or respond to them will be in my post-mortem recommendations) If there are enough opposes based specifically on the character set of my username, please let me know and I will withdraw the RFA. (enough is roughly 10 now, or 30 at any point before the RFA ends -- or whatever other editors feel is "enough") Regarding other reasons of opposition - I plan to answer the remaining questions today, watch the trajectory, and consider whether it is worth withdrawing around 0400GMT. User:力 (powera, π, ν) 17:55, 25 December 2021 (UTC)
- On second thought, I decided to skip to "withdraw immediately". Thanks for the nomination and happy holidays. User:力 (powera, π, ν) 18:25, 25 December 2021 (UTC)
- @力: an understandable and wise decision.
- I'm curious, is there a reason you never replied to my email? However you cut it, I think discussing "potential things that will sink a RfA" with your nominator is always going to be an important aspect of running for admin.. I wish we'd done that, but ho hum!
- My advice to you now, which I'm happy to give publicly, is to enjoy your day and take a break from Wikipedia - when you're ready, come back and read the opposes, but take them only as indicators of where you could improve.
- Opposes at RfA hurt, especially from those we respect and trust (this I believe is the crux of the problem with RfA), so please try not to take them personally (even the ones which are a little personal!) - everyone makes mistakes, and none of us are perfect. We can all improve.
- Thank you for running the gauntlet 力, and have a good a day as you can. Your contributions are appreciated -- TNT (talk • she/her) 18:47, 25 December 2021 (UTC)
- I asked for a nomination publicly because I think the culture of "coordinating RFAs through email" is one that shouldn't exist. Now that the process is over, I will reply to your other comments by email. (though not today) User:力 (powera, π, ν) 18:55, 25 December 2021 (UTC)
(talk page watcher)There is no one in the 'Oppose' column I now hold with any respect, particularly those who transferred their votes. It was a venture and a half though ——Serial 19:35, 25 December 2021 (UTC)I apologise, of course I do not and never did hold any such belief, and it was a dumbass thing to say. - Only in the RfA, and only when preplanned... the latter, at least, you seem to have forgone. ——Serial 19:55, 25 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Number 54129 erm... Do you mean you dont respect the editors who voted oppose in that RfA? I am sorry, I am not very good with ornamented English. Its my fourth or fifth language. —usernamekiran • sign the guestbook • (talk) 21:05, 25 December 2021 (UTC)

- I asked for a nomination publicly because I think the culture of "coordinating RFAs through email" is one that shouldn't exist. Now that the process is over, I will reply to your other comments by email. (though not today) User:力 (powera, π, ν) 18:55, 25 December 2021 (UTC)
Edit warring
Hi there. I first saw an edit from the user with around 7,000+ characters that appeared to be a clear case of blanking. In my haste perhaps, I believe that I then went on to revert their edit on their talk page to my own error. I have since ceased any edit on their page or otherwise. It was not my intent to revert their talk page. Thanks! ♥Th78blue (They/Them/Their • talk)♥ 05:09, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Th78blue: Everyone makes mistakes but the number of times you reverted the IP at their own talk page does not strike me as the sort of mistakes an editor trusted with rollback should be making, hence my comment there - I'd advise you continue learning and patrolling (WP:TW is a great script!) for a little longer -- TNT (talk • she/her) 05:13, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
- I use twinkle heavily, it is indeed great! I will be honest. I am at a Christmas family event right now, and I am off in another room editing because I get bored sometimes with the high amount of social interaction. I think I was slightly excitable perhaps by this social discomfort, in addition to the fact that I MIGHT FINALLY get the "Rollback" permission, and also that this editor was reverting my edit within SECONDS over and over (to which I THOUGHT was vandalism—of the blanking variety). That said, please see my above comment, for what I THOUGHT applied. Please do not have me punished for this, I would really appreciate it, and I do hope to ensure confidence in my edits over the past 11,000+ that I have made. My only wish is to uphold the highest level of integrity for the encyclopedia. ♥Th78blue (They/Them/Their • talk)♥ 05:17, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Th78blue: Hmm, give me a moment to review your other recent contributions.. -- TNT (talk • she/her) 05:21, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Th78blue: I have granted you rollback on a one month trial - please take it slow, and read Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback. When in doubt, do not use rollback, and please always ask for help if you're ever unsure. I'm trusting you here! -- TNT (talk • she/her) 05:30, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you VERY much. I promise not to let you, nor the community, down! Can you please let me know what a "one month trial" consists of? Do I essentially have the "rollback" permission then as of now, but that it will be removed (of course) if there is any issue with my editing in tandem with edit wars/rollback use in that time? Or is it that I will need to re-apply in one month? Can you just tell me a little bit about what that entails? Thank you!! ♥Th78blue (They/Them/Their • talk)♥ 05:32, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Th78blue: A one month trial means that the rollback permission will automatically be removed after one month - you will need to re-apply once that happens (or just before). This allows us to review your use of rollback over the next month and decide if you've followed policy I try to treat most permissions as "not a massive deal", but you can do a fair amount of damage will rollback, so again please be careful! -- TNT (talk • she/her) 05:35, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
- I see. If I do not use it much, or at all. Given that I will ONLY USE IT when it is absolutely necessary. Will that not qualify me for approval before this one month trial is over? I may not have occasion to use it is my only concern then with a trial. I have no issue at all with being asked to "prove myself", but just in terms of the actual usage perhaps being very light. As now I will wish to be even EXTRA cautious on top of caution so as not to possibly lose this already precious permission as I see it. Thank you! ♥Th78blue (They/Them/Their • talk)♥ 05:38, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
- Frankly, my edit problem today could not have come at a worse time. I was waiting for this opportunity all month. :( ♥Th78blue (They/Them/Their • talk)♥ 05:39, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
- I'm sure you'll find an opportunity to use it carefully -- TNT (talk • she/her) 06:00, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
