As always, for your beneficial work. Cheers, JNW (talk) 03:11, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So here's my question: can't there be a bot that finds new articles with a word like "penis", where the author has few edits, and the article just get deleted right away? Why waste my time patrolling and yours deleting if something with these types of triggers should be immediately catchable? (I am watching this page, so please reply here.)Timneu22 · talk 17:06, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The user triggered a bunch of edit filters, which is why I summarily blocked them - no redemption here. Filters 98, 279, 30, 3 and 12 were lit up. None of those, however, were really designed to filter penis vandals. Acroterion (talk) 17:10, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm just saying it would be totally sweet if a bot would actually delete suspected pages based on some blatant words (penis, penus, etc.) and other factors (new editor). If, on the off chance, someone created a valid article that fell into this category, someone could always restore it. — Timneu22 · talk 17:33, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
We have filters for that, although I can't point at a specific example. I'll look around. Acroterion (talk) 17:52, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello NawlinWiki, You have blocked සදීප (talk · contribs) on 10 February 2009 saying he is having multiple accounts. I have a slight suspect of him to be a sock in Sinhala Wikipedia. Lately this person has become active in there. He has left a note in the village pump and expressed that he "is not using this account to edit ENWIKI" and have asked for help. Sinhala Wikipedia is currently experiencing a 2 years old horrid sock puppeting incident. It would be a great help if you could reveal the sockpuppets of this person if possible and clear this matter. Regards--Chanaka L (talk) 01:53, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Brian Cook (college sports blogger, Author)[edit]

Brian Cook (college sports blogger and author) was recently deleted from wikipedia by you. I beleve this to be a mistake as Mr. Cook runs mgoblog.com, one of the most comprehensive college sports blogs in amarica. His content has been referenced by journalists from ESPN, The Big Ten Network, The Detroit Free Press, The Ann Arbor News and by authors such as John U. Bacon who is also a professor at The University of Michigan. Brian Cook also is a freelance sports writer for SBNation.com, as well as many other sports related websites. I trust that Mr. Cook's Wiki page will be reinstated once you have done your proper due diligence.

Possible false positive on filter 58[edit]

A new report on the false positives page turned up this edit, and I'm hoping you can tell whether it is a false positive or not, and if so, is there a way to still fulfill the purpose this watch word was added for without turning up false positives like this? (I'm deliberately being vague with details because I don't know this vandal and don't know if he's the type who scours every page looking for information about how he's being tracked.) Soap 12:11, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • While this isn't actually the vandal we're looking for, it's a valid hit because it included a particular misspelling that is usually deliberate. I'll email you with the details. NawlinWiki (talk) 12:31, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion[edit]

Hmm... I was in the process of adding a detailed explanation of "Reported user seems to primarily use IP addresses, so this report would be better suited for abuse response if the user is active again. Activity does not fit guidelines for inclusion and isn't of much value. I copied this from the main page as part of a cleanup, now checking over." (just in case someone was confused) when you deleted this. Awesome, and thanks! Netalarmtalk 04:49, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Doughnut Days 2009[edit]

Hi, how are you? I recently noticed that you have deleted User:Grundle2600/Doughnut Days 2009, a subpage of Grundle2600's that documented an event. I understand that Grundle2600 is currently banned, but I was wondering if that page could be restored, since it's an event that multiple users (including me) participated in, and as such, it would be nice to have a record of it? If not as a subpage of Grundle2600's, perhaps a restoration in the Wikipedia mainspace would be appropriate, or even on a subpage of mine? If it's appropriate and possible, it would be much appreciated. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 04:55, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

/* Your assistance please */[edit]

You speedy deleted a main space article entitled Zabihullah_Mujahid. My notes record I asked you about this deletion. Sorry, my notes do not record if you responded. Subsequently a redirect was created at that name, to another article. It has been so long you probably don't remember any of the details.

I'd like to request you merge the history of the deleted article with the redirect. If you agree to this request, could you please leave me a heads-up, on my talk page? I'll then go back into the old history, and see if there are references or other material in the version you deleted, that merit integration into the main article. And, if you wouldn't mind, if you do not agree to provide this help, could you also leave me a note on my talk page letting me know of your decision?

IT_in_Business_programme_at_Leiden_University deletion[edit]

Hi there, last friday I started a wiki: IT_in_Business_programme_at_Leiden_University. However when I wanted to see it I saw that it was deleted with the reason of unknown purpose. Well this page will be about the IT in Business programme that is offered at Leiden University. It is by no means adverstising, it is just a description of what the programme about and what students can expect. There is another Leiden University page for a masters programme called Media Technology which has the same intentions. Therefore I hereby ask to undelete the page.

Best regards —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rvdbroek (talkcontribs) 08:20, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • There is really no indication in either article that these programs are notable WP:N apart from their affiliation with a notable university. I've redirected the Media Technology article to Leiden University - I suggest you add a couple of sentences on each of the programs to the main Leiden article. We typically don't have separate articles on individual departments or courses at universities. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 14:48, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Workplace Community[edit]

I have nominated Workplace Community for deletion at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2010 October 19. I believe the original article should probably have been deleted under WP:CSD#A10. The only mention of the phrase "Workplace Community" at the Intranet article is as a "see also" and the editor provided a citation (in the edit summary, of all places) that indicated that this term is really only used as a marketing term for a particular company's software. I have removed the "see also" from Intranet, leaving the newly created redirect as rather nonsensical, since the Intranet article no longer mentions that phrase. Speedy deletion of BP Public Relations[edit]

  • Well, there really was no content at all. And no, I don't think we have a conflict of interest with respect to anything having to do with BP - they do a lot besides spilling oil. And finally, we generally don't do pages about departments of companies as opposed to the companies themselves. NawlinWiki (talk) 20:18, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why deleted - as the Article is been posted 2 months back and it is been regularly viewed in Wikipedia.

Only request I made was that there was a confusion today morning by User:NawlinWiki and then others followed it too.

I want to express is that approx 4500 view for the Articles and if there was any incorrect information then it would have been come in notice long back.

Azmi Bishara and other daily vandalized articles[edit]

Hi Nawlin, first off, thank you for your regular revisions to protect the regularly vandalized articles, particularly on Israel-Palestine. What do you think about just permanently protecting them for a time until the vandalizer(s) become bored and look elsewhere for their petty thrills?--TM 19:22, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • We're trying to accomplish that objective without blocking legitimate editors. The filters are doing a good job of that, as well as some other things we are doing. At this point, the vandal gets maybe one edit, which is instantly blanked, so basically nobody sees it except the blocking admin. Eventually, you would think he would not need a Ph.D. to see that it's pointless. NawlinWiki (talk) 19:24, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You may want to add Mahmoud Abbas to your list of filtered articles after this edit. or you could just semi-protect it, which I think is a suitable decision for just about every major BLP article.--TM 02:33, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy Deletion of Hannah Victoria Smith article[edit]

Hi Nawlin, I was in the process of adding more references to this page when you removed it. Hannah is a well known neo-soul recording artist and I really wanted to create an article about all of her activities that I believe would be notable (Grammys, Fox News, etc). I dont want to "speedily re-add" the article without understanding what it was specifically missing in the article other than references (which i was adding when you removed the article). Please feel free to reach out to me. --Gframe (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 20:16, 20 October 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Deletion of Stacey Gurnevich article[edit]

Hi Nawlin, I had reliable sources for my article. I don't quite see why you deleted it? It wasn't offensive or biased. Stacey is a well known female amongst the online community. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MagnificentOneee (talkcontribs) 15:03, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Chomsky[edit]

I can't see what kind of stupidity it is that you're repeatedly reverting and removing at Noam Chomsky, but the removals must be wasting a lot of your time. How about semi-protection or pending-changes protection? (If WP:BEANS is an issue, feel free either to ignore this suggestion entirely or to email me.) -- Hoary (talk) 01:14, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • This is an ongoing User:Runtshit cleanup project. He seems not to care that his vandal edits are instantly reverted as long as they stay in the page history. So I'm removing them all from the page histories. I'm about half done. Semiprotection doesn't really seem to be necessary because we have a couple of pretty good edit filters that are minimizing future harm. NawlinWiki (talk) 02:01, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I hadn't encountered the name "Runtshit" before. Accuracy in usernames, I suppose. Well, that's OK then, kind of. No, I'd been under the wrong impression that you had some extraordinary "oversight" capabilities and once or twice a day were reverting and removing all trace of new additions of stupidity. If that were so, better to prevent the additions in the first place. -- Hoary (talk) 03:25, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fabulance[edit]

  • You deleted this article under the claim that it was not notable and was about a real person. This is completely false. This is about a popular gay comic character that had been published for nearly two years now on high profile gay media, magazines, etc and has a strong fan following. I am the creator of the strip and had created an account last night to correct the false information that had been posted on the fan made wiki page. The character was inspired by a real live individual, but is by no means ABOUT a real person. I am going to recreate this page with the correct information. Please allow me to do this so that I can maintain the facts about this comic strip character. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rosendobrown (talkcontribs) 12:42, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I still don't think this comic is notable per WP:WEB, and I still think you shouldn't be editing the article about your own comic. But I've listed the page for further discussion at WP:AFD. NawlinWiki (talk) 12:47, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • i have included publication dates and links to the comic as it appears in echo magazine for notable references. and i edited my own comic because whoever made the page had not updated it and had incorrect information on it. i decided to correct it in order to straighten out the facts of my intellectual property. the incorrect information on the previous wiki page has been used in reference in many radio and newspaper articles that i have been involved in and i do not feel that i should have to keep correcting the interviewers when i can simply correct this erroneous information myself.

Rosendobrown (talk) 13:51, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • in addition to the links to the strip in the magazine and the pages in which they appear, i have also included two articles about me and the strip as well as an mp3 link of one of the radio shows (la talk radio) where i was interviewed. i hope all of this makes it notable. Rosendobrown (talk) 14:39, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • hey, on the AFD page you listed this as a WebComic. This is not true. The comic is published every 2 weeks in Echo Magazine, a celluloid publication in Phoenix, AZ. The comic is merely published on the web on facebook and in Echo Magazine's e-zine... but is primarily published in a physical magazine. 72.190.122.137 (talk) 14:56, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Nawlin, how can i bring this page to code so that it is not deleted? I have been trying to fix it without creating a COI. Any advice? Rosendobrown (talk) 03:14, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[1] why did you revert this?87.102.72.130 (talk) 13:07, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ok you didn't do it.. Ingore/ Thnxks.87.102.72.130 (talk) 13:09, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) - you beat me to it.87.102.72.130 (talk) 13:09, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Is there any way to stop this nonsense? MuzeMike blocked some IPs, but apparently there are Tor nodes involved or something. This has been going on since last night, with dozens of socks. → ROUX  13:19, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Trying to use EF 264 to stop it. I would rather not semiprotect a help desk page, but that would be the last resort. NawlinWiki (talk) 13:20, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The /Science and /Humanities desks were semiprotted for a while, but people complained about it. Soon as the prots were lifted, the socks were right back at it. → ROUX  13:23, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It depends how desperate he gets. He was willing to produce this last night (Roux, I know you've seen it since you're the one who reverted it), and to disguise his edits by putting legitimate-lookijng content with them. Also, I've removed a few watch words on filter 264 that I think might appear in legitimate edits; not intending this to be permanent though. Soap 13:44, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
He's also taken to making legitimate edits, then coming back and changing the question. Honestly, it's a bizarre fixation. → ROUX  13:51, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unicornlove1998 (talk · contribs) is the same user, Nawlin... → ROUX  14:00, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

See also Anideawords (talk · contribs), and basically almost anyone redlinked in the histories of the refdesks for the past 18 hours or so. → ROUX  15:28, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rosendobrown[edit]

Hi, just a quick one for you. Has this user User_talk:Rosendobrown got the right warning? It looks like a post deletion tag, rather than the AFD. Cheers Clovis Sangrail (talk) 13:49, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • The AFD was after the deletion. I already responded to the user. NawlinWiki (talk) 13:50, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies - I just noticed the conversation up above. Sorry for the bother.. Cheers Clovis Sangrail (talk) 13:52, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure if it's calmed down or not, but you're aware of the trouble on that board; some guy has created upwards of thirty socks to make a nuisance of himself there. Maybe the page could be SPed for awhile. I'm aware it's already PC protected, but with that setup, the edits still have to be reverted, and he seems pretty hell-bent. HalfShadow 21:19, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As I post, he appears to be back again. HalfShadow 21:21, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Blocked that one, and see new filter 372. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:40, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Angela Donovan[edit]

You speedily deleted my article on Angela Donovan before I was able to reference her media appearances etc. I can understand that the article may have been inappropriate as I copied her bio from promotional material and was going to edit. I am restarting the article referencing media appearances whilst I will leave the body of text blank for now. I would like to eventually have an article that resembles David Icke. I welcome any suggestions. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mjmansur (talkcontribs) 21:44, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • You're right - you shouldn't copy and paste from the subject's own promo materials. Please keep in mind WP:NPOV and especially WP:V. NawlinWiki (talk) 22:00, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
