There doesn't appear to be any logic or reason to your deletion of important, well established individuals from the article. You deleted people who had already been properly cited. Nysanda (talk) 04:13, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

When using AFD

Please refer to WP:AFDHOWTO to properly list a deletion discussion, so that everyone can see it, even if they don't happen across the article itself. This speeds up the deletion discussion process. Please also look at arguments to avoid. -Malkinann (talk) 08:57, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Please check all your recent AFDs to check that they comply with WP:AFDHOWTO so that the discussions can proceed properly. Thank you. -Malkinann (talk) 09:30, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

The old Voltron information you added that isn't there now

When reading the Voltron article, I checked to see what it was like when it was at its longest. You added in a lot of information which I felt interesting to read, but someone decided to edit out, probably do to the article's length, since that is usual the reason. If you wanted to add it back in, and anything else you come across that might be an interesting fact to someone, you can do so on a Wikia. Its owned by Wikipedia, but allows for far more content, without the fear of pointless deletion of things. I've worked on the Gantz one, restoring information deleted from the official Wikipedia article, and worked on editing a bit on the Marvel Comics one as well. Long articles with plenty of information, are common there. Dream Focus (talk) 16:24, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

I went ahead and created a wiki for it. Please contribute. I was thinking you'd be the one to start it, since you know more than me about it, but whatever. Its set up now. http://voltron.wikia.com/wiki/Voltron_Wiki Dream Focus (talk) 01:44, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

Looking through various old versions of a wikipedia article, specifically once its off the first page of the article's history(it impossible to compare two edits from page one and page two), is rather difficult. Was there any information eliminated in the Plot Differences or Character sections, which I have not restored on the Voltron wiki? If so, please let me know. Merges

I have undone the additions of merge tags you placed on Once a Ranger, Day of the Dumpster, and Green with Evil because you chose the wrong merge directions and pages for those articles. I have completed the process for the Masters of the Universe vehicles. Improperly/incompletely-listed AfDs will likely be closed without deletion. --EEMIV (talk) 23:34, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

What if....

Please review this diff. I have admiration for your early work on the article. But now that this has become THIS, I think a title change might better reflect that the film is in production hell and yet best serve Wikipedia, as it is the ongoing problems that have caused the topic to meet WP:N. If or when the film is ever released, we can work toward incorporating some of the current content into Imagi_Animation_Studios#Setbacks and then return an expanded and sourced article about the film itself to a name reflecting its (then) release date... whatever that might ever be. Sensible? Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 22:42, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Prod of Amateur Martial Assoc

I completely agree that the article fails notability, but we can't PROD it because it was already nominated for AfD. [1]. I nominated it before and not a single one of those things that the 2 editors who voted to keep used at the AfD has been added. I'd happily support another AfD, but I had to remove the prod. Sorry. Niteshift36 (talk) 19:42, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Gayong Malaysia

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Gayong Malaysia, which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! Massive number of PRODs and AFDs

I believe that you are correct that there are many articles to be deleted. I request that you not attempt to delete them all in one day because I see no evidence that you have searched for notability or third party references. I and others in the Martial Arts Projects would be glad to help: could I suggest that we make a subpage from the Martial Arts Page, list the articles and methodically evaluate them ( at a rate of one a day, for example)? Thanks! jmcw (talk) 10:29, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Hello Dwanyewest, I was going to write something similar to what jmcw has written, but he did it first. I appreciate the effort you are putting into trying to clean things up (and I have seconded a couple of your proposed deletions) but, like jmcw, my impression is that you might need to put more effort into checking for sources before proposing articles for deletion. I notice that you have been working on several martial arts articles (and have been posting on the WPMA discussion page) recently, but are not a member of WPMA yet. If you have a strong interest in martial arts articles, as seems to be the case, I would like to invite you to join WPMA. Janggeom (talk) 14:13, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

I concur--please do a check for sources prior to nominating an article for deletion or PRODding it. AfD is not for article improvement. JJL (talk) 15:44, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
You're doing a great job Danyewest, please do not feel intimidated by others just because they disagree with your listing(s) of non-notable subjects for deletion. It appears they should be deleted. JBsupreme (talk) 16:27, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
I have very little knowledge of the subject, so I never give an opinion on articles about people in this field. But I do know that the policy for deletion is to delete only as a last resort, and that this means that one First looks for sources, & if not found, only then nominates for deletion. The point is to improve Wikipedia by what it takes, be it fixing an article or deleting it, not deleting based on impression. I am sure JB does not mean you should not do things properly and carefully in coordination with others who care about the subject. DGG ( talk ) 06:02, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
  • You should at least try to find sources before nominating things. As many of the articles you nominate end in keep, that should tell you that you are doing something wrong, and should stop it. Dream Focus 06:50, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
  • Don't forget that some end in keep because a lot of people might like the topic and are willing to alter their view of what "significant coverage" is to justify keeping the article. Niteshift36 (talk) 06:52, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
  • I also agree as these nominations are for some notable subjects (main locations, main villains, ones that appear in cartoons, as toys, in comics, etc.) versus ones that aren't so important and as such come off as indiscriminate. It appears that all of these should be kept in some manner, at worst as merges and/or redirects, which is what we do per WP:BEFORE and WP:PRESERVE. Redlinking is always an extreme last resort for hoaxes, libel, and copy vio for which no redirect location exists, which is not the case here. Sincerely, --A NobodyMy talk 01:00, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
  • I didn't know that turning up en masse to harangue good faith editors on their talk page is part of the ARS description. When was that clause added? They should stick to doing what they do best: block voting on AfDs and misusing sources to prevent rubbish from being cleaned up. Reyk YO! 05:16, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Tagging of Leslie Hutchison

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Leslie Hutchison. I do not think that Leslie Hutchison fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because "8th Dan ITF TaeKwon-Do Master " is a claim of significance, as is "holds presidency of the British Isles TaeKwon-Do Federation"). I request that you consider not re-tagging Leslie Hutchison for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. DES (talk) 05:38, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Re: I have a question for you?

I agree the article fails WP:Notability#General notability guideline as it doe's not have "significant coverage in reliable sources". The YouTube links should be removed per WP:External links#Restrictions on linking. Powergate92Talk 23:14, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

I disagree as the article clearly passes WP:Notability as it has significant coverage in reliable sources (a published book, for example...). I am concerned with how you are going about this and have therefore started Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#User:Dwanyewest to seek additional input. Sincerely, --A NobodyMy talk 00:58, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

AFD

If you start an AFD it is assumed that you want the page deleted. You don't make additional delete !votes. This is double voting and is not allowed.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 23:28, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

I was just about to say the same thing - it does happen from time to time, but as your 'delete' !vote is implicit in your nomination, normally people don't then post a second one.   pablohablo. 23:30, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
I have also noticed an IP that appears to be from the same country (Britain) making similarly worded edits in the same discussions with almost no edits beyond those AfDs. It's not good to get too worked up over fiction articles, because although our rule may say one thing, a lot of editors disagree. I like how you have the initiative to try and clean them up, but you want to be as collaborative as possible. I don't know if you want to clean up just one area, but if you want to do it in general, we need about 1000(!) articles redirected over in the Dungeons and Dragons wikiproject. Although I'm an inclusionist, and I think I've voted keep on a couple of your AfDs, there are areas of the wiki that need massive culling. List of Animaniacs characters

Hi West,

Thanks for taking an interest in the list of Animaniacs characters! I notice that you suggested a merge between several of the individual character articles and the main list. When leaving a merge tag on an article, the normal procedure is to start a merge discussion on the talk page linked in the tag; in this case, that would be Talk:List of Animaniacs characters. If you intend to proceed with the merge, I would recommend starting this discussion and waiting at least five days for people to respond before doing so.

Happy editing,

Masters of the Universe mergers

Hi. To be clear, I am not an admin, just a user who saw that you hadn't gotten any responses. Mergers tend to get low participation, and your experience is fairly common. In addition to notifications at relevant WikiProjects, you may want to try WP:Proposed mergers and the main franchise page Talk:Masters of the Universe. I also recommend using the discuss= parameter to link directly to the merge discussion's section. It would be reasonable to implement the ones tagged since 2009 with no response. Waiting after those will give you a chance to address any objections.

About your elimination of infobox information for Master of the Universe characters

Every single character article for a comic book character list information such as ability, secret identity, and what teams they are on. You have gone through and wiped out this information from all of the Master of the Universe characters. Any reason why? [4] The template you replaced it with doesn't seem to be for fictional characters at all. Also your not a forum tag for Fearless Photog talk page was rather rude [5] I simply stating there was plenty of information about this and its creator out there, and that the reason I created the article. Dream Focus 20:44, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Play nice

I think it'd be best if you left Dream Focus alone, there are plenty of articles out there that they didn't create or edit. If you absolutely must edit the same articles, please do so collaboratively and with respect; your comments indicate to me that you're treating Dream Focus as an opponent. Re: Was this the correct format

Hello Dwanyewest, the two changes I see at Stephen K. Hayes are: (1) an image placeholder was deleted, and (2) the Martial Artist infobox was changed to the Person infobox. Regarding image placeholders, there has been no consensus on whether to use them or not, as far as I am aware. Regarding infoboxes, the more general Person infobox might be seen as more appropriate because the subject appears to be notable for involvement in Buddhism as well as the martial arts, but I am not aware of any specific policies on deciding between infoboxes. Hi Dwanyewest, this is a message from an automated bot, regarding Talk:PERSILAT. You blanked the page and, since you are its sole author, FrescoBot has interpreted it as a request for deletion of the page and asked administrators to satisfy the requests per speedy deletion criterion G7. Next time you want a page that you've created deleted, you can explicitly request the deletion by inserting the text {{db-author}}. If you didn't want the page deleted, please remove the {{db-author}} tag from the page and undo your blanking or put some content in the page. Admins are able to recover deleted pages. AfD nomination of Lin Yu Chun

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Lin Yu Chun. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lin Yu Chun. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:05, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 03:04, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Prostitution in Cambodia

Hi West,

Feel free to contact me whenever you so desire; I'm always encouraged by requests for help and/or advice. It looks as though SqueakBox felt that a better name for the article you created was "Human Trafficking in Cambodia" and so moved the article to that title. Another user then redirected Prostitution in Cambodia to Prostitution in Asia as a more appropriate target. Since there is no information about prostitution in Cambidia on the Prostitution in Asia article, there's no need to split a new "Prostitution in Cambodia" article off from that article. There should be an article about human trafficking for each applicable country in the world just as there should be an article about prostitution for each country; if you'd like to create a new Prostitution in Cambodia article, feel free to do so. So far as I can tell, all the information on the Human Trafficking in Cambodia article is about human trafficking. While prostitution is a related topic, a separate article can be written about it. You may want to compare such articles as Prostitution in the Republic of Ireland and Human trafficking in the Republic of Ireland, Prostitution in the Philippines and Human trafficking in the Philippines, and Prostitution in Australia and Human trafficking in Australia.

Hi West,

Thank you for trusting me enough to archive your talk page! I would be glad to help you get started, but I think it would be best if you understood how to do it yourself. There are several ways you can archive your talk page, listed here, but my preferred method requires you to do so manually every so often. It's called the cut-and-paste procedure. It requires you to place the Archive box template at the top of your talk page and then place links to the archives in that template. It's up to you how often you archive your talk page. At the moment, your talk page isn't very long; I normally wait until I have fifty discussions on my talk page before I place them in an archive. If you'd prefer your archive pages to be shorter, just let me know how many you'd like to have in each archive and I'll start the process for you. If you'd prefer wait until you have more discussions on your talk page, feel free to contact me again when your talk page is the length you want each of your archives to be.

A tag has been placed on Griffin-Bacal Advertising, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article that does not provide sufficient context to identify its subject. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. -- Ice (talk) 19:07, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

The article Griffin-Bacal Advertising has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Very short article that doesn't clarify the notability of the subject.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Ice (talk) 19:23, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Roots of the TMNT 1987 series

Hi. I noticed you removed the 1987 TMNT animated series from the Animated series based on toys template. I figured someone would eventually, and this is a difficult subject to pin down. Many people don't know that Playmates was approached about producing TMNT action figures before the idea of the cartoon came about. However, Playmates wasn't confident that the figures would sell without the support of a cartoon series, so only after the first five episodes aired in 1987 did Playmates released the figures in summer '88. The figures were designed by Mirage Studios artists and are greatly influenced by the original comic book styles yet also have their own distinct characteristics. These action figure styles were incorporated into the animated series albeit simplified and more kid-friendly (Rat King, Leatherhead, and the Foot Soldier to name a few). Various other characters were made into action figures or at least developed on paper but did not appear in the cartoon at all.

So based on that, I would argue that the 1987 animated series is heavily based on the Playmates action figures which spurred its very inception. Although I don't absolutely know for certain which was designed first, the action figures or the animated series, it appears to be the former. But even still, I can understand why someone would not want to label the cartoon as being based on toys since they both debuted in such close proximity, correspond so tightly, and are inspired primarily by the ultimate TMNT source, the comic books. AfD procedure

I see you've put up more martial arts articles for deletion. Did you remember to follow all the required steps? Otherwise the articles will be up for weeks until someone finishes the paperwork (as it were). You complained about no one commenting on the last articles you put up for AfD, but it was because you hadn't completed all the steps and people weren't even aware they were up for AfD. I support all efforts to clean up the MA project, so I'll post my comments after I've had a chance to research the article topics. Papaursa (talk) 01:04, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi there. Just saw this and figured I'd point out that there are automated tools that help with these things. I use Twinkle, which has a script for completing all the XfD steps for you. It's in the gadgets section of the preferences page. Sven Manguard Talk 06:58, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

For the Record

For the record, I had no idea that you were the author of these when I AfD'd them, and it has no bearing on my decision. I nominated these because they are one line articles, and are adequately covered in Louis Theroux's BBC 2 Specials. I also think that The Most Hated Family In America is an good article and would have voted to keep it, had I seen the nomination. I'm not sure what your involvement in all of this is, but I felt I had to explain my actions to you since we recently crossed paths. I hope that your other work goes well, and have a good day, Sven Manguard Talk 16:45, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Being courteous

When you receive notice of an AFD and decide to save the article, please mention that you are making significant changes at the AFD debate so that everyone else knows you are trying to save it. This accomplishes several things:

  1. It makes sure your work is recognized. If you make the changes after everyone has already called for a deletion, your work might be wasted.
  2. It protects the credibility of the person who nominated the article, as well as those who commented on it. People might not see that the changes were made in the past few hours and see it as a bad AfD, even though when the AfD was submitted and voted on, the article was significantly worse.

I'm glad you decided to save the artilce, just keep us in mind. :) Thanks, Sven Manguard Talk 20:37, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Verb Tense

I noticed you changed the verb tense on The Wild Thornberrys from "The Wild Thornberrys is..." to "The Wild Thornberrys was..." a few months ago. I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know that changing the verb tense this way is not appropriate per WP:MOSTV: "References to the show should be in the present tense since shows no longer airing still exist, including in the lead (i.e. Title is a...)." I only bring this up since it appears you work with a lot of television related articles. --132 19:13, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Policy re AfD

I'm glad you worked so hard and saved all those articles, honestly I didn't think it could be done. I am no longer actively opposing the deletes, as although the articles still need a bit of work, they meet the keep requirements for AfD.

One bit of policy that you must be aware of for the future though. When voting in AfD you are expected to announce that you are the article's creator. This is mainly for WP:COI reasons. Most experienced editors and almost all admins/closers will check anyways (and will respond better a person's arguments if they are up front about their association with it.) Your comments will still be considered, and no one will ever block you for not doing this, but they might end up noting it for you in the AfD and that never looks particularly good. Hopefully this will all be a moot point and nothing else you participate in will be put up for AfD, but keep this in mind anyways. Thanks, Sven Manguard Talk 15:57, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

AFDs

Did you really just suggest that those Transformers articles you listed are "much stronger candidates for AFD" than the blatant and poorly-sourced Gobots fancruft I went and nominated for deletion?

Because, honestly, that's incredibly laughable. --Divebomb (talk) 15:47, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

AfD process

When you nominate an article, please complete all of the steps. Based on the martial arts articles you nominate for AfD, you don't seem to complete the process so someone else (either a person or bot) has to do that. That means your nominations hang around until someone else does what you should have. Your help in cleaning up martial arts articles is appreciated, but you need to finish what you start. Papaursa (talk) 20:12, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

When nominating an article for AfD, please remember to include them on the AfD log for that date. I had to add 3 from the 24th and 3 from the 28th that wouldn't otherwise have been closed because they only turn up at the Delsort list for Martial Arts. Jarkeld (talk) 23:59, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

Maccabiah Karate

Hello, You asked me to add the sources to the article. I am responding here because I don't think this point is relevant to the AfD debate. Please review the AfD guidelines for nominators (you in this case) WP:BEFORE especially items 9 and 10. You are expected to make a good faith search for sources before nominating an article for AfD. It is not the responsibility of an editor opposing an AfD to improve the article, but simply to demonstrate that the topic is notable and that reliable sources are available. When I run across an article in AfD that interests me, I will often add sources. However, this is entirely optional on my part, but expected on your part. The fact of the matter is that I was editing with a touch screen smart phone at that time (as I am now), which gives me the capability to do Google searches, but not the ability to do complex editing of lengthy articles. In addition,I have no expertise in karate. However, I am still entitled to participate in AfD debates. Cullen328 (talk) 16:03, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Porn Wikileaks requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Snpp (talk) 20:53, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Re:SilverHawks Link Rot

Never heard of it til you posted it. Either way, the link in question which I assume is http://silverhawks.wikia.com/wiki/SilverHawks_Comic_7 is a link to a wiki maintained by Wikia wikifarm. Wikia doesn't allow for wikis to be shut down all that often. Also, the reason I am pointing there is cause I have yet to find a place that has brought up the last two comics even though they are quite real. I do maintain SilverHawks Wiki(a). Anyways, looking for a better answer here. So do we leave the link up, or remove it and leave information un cited or do we all together ignore what is now known thanks to SilverHawks Wiki and say falsely its 5 comics? Devilmanozzy (talk) 16:06, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

I think a more reliable place to take it would be Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard. Dwanyewest (talk) 16:43, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
After another search on Google I finally found another site "www.comicvine.com" which as it turns out is also a type of wiki.
