February songs
my daily stories |
yesterday's cantata, 300 years later --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:02, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
today's stories are about two pieces we sang at church today. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:56, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: you mean the Da pacem Domine and the Responsories? That sounds very nice. Your church seems to have very amazing music. I used to live in Aachen many years ago, I think I recall nice singing there too. — Amakuru (talk) 19:15, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
- Da pacem and one of the responsories, yes (and an Ave Maria by Vierne that has no article yet). Our (still rather) new conductor is ambitious. I sing in two churches, both interesting in singing and architecture. I keep updating my music. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:21, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
- today a book, Alte Liebe, for Valentine --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:40, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
Thank you today for UEFA Euro 2020 Final, introduced (in 2021): "This article is about the final of Euro 2020, the football tournament which took place a few months ago (even though it's 2021!). As someone from England, this was a tough one to write about - it was first major final that the team have reached in my lifetime, and with England holding the lead into the second half it looked for while like it might be our year. It wasn't to be though, the curse of the penalty shootout struck again! Italy were a great team though, and played really well throughout the tournament, so that's the way it goes."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:12, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
... and today the regional festival - DYK of 13 years ago ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:20, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
- Very nice! — Amakuru (talk) 18:01, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you, - I booked ;) - My story on 24 February is about Artemy Vedel (TFA by Amitchell235), and I made a suggestion for more peace, - what do you think? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:43, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
today: two women whose birthday we celebrate today, 99 and 90! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:26, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

Hii, I have added more than 8 reliable sources in this draft and better defined the artist's work. Is it moveable to mainspace? Let me know if you have any suggestions?

I've been really digging your WP:POTD selections this month, thank you! Levivich (talk) 07:40, 23 February 2023 (UTC) |
- @Levivich: thank you very much, that's definitely appreciated and I'm glad you approve of the POTDs. I'm quite enjoying being back doing that at the moment, it's a fun way to learn about diverse topics I hadn't looked into before, and finding appropriate sources for the blurbs. It's also impactful as POTD is often quite popular with readers - I enjoy seeing the series of spikes which result from the choices I've made . Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 10:55, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- I'm not surprised people are clicking, because the pics are quite noticeable. After like a couple weeks of daily "ooh, good pic", I had to go and look up who to thank :-) I particularly appreciate the variety, like Human genome, Hair Like Mine, Warthog, it shows off awesome breadth of the encyclopedia. The Million Award for you!
The Million Award | |
For your contributions to bring Rwanda (estimated annual readership: 1,824,125) to Featured Article status, I hereby present you the Million Award. Congratulations on this rare accomplishment, and thanks for all you do for Wikipedia's readers! theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/her) 08:49, 23 February 2023 (UTC) |
I've been clearing out a backlog of these, and I thought "hey, I know who wrote this one"! theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/her) 08:49, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Theleekycauldron: tee hee, yes, always nice to see a familiar name when working through things like that... It seems a long time ago now that I wrote this one, but it's still very satisfying to know that my work on such an important topic is getting lots of views. I really need to find some time to develop another such topic at some point, I've had Kenya on my radar as a possibility... it's a lot more work than soccer finals but definitely more impactful! Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 11:18, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
Camberwell
Thanks for clarifying matters. I wasn't aware of this bureaucratic jargon. Doesn't this specialized use of the words "area" and "district" need to be clarified, beyond the use of a link?. Rwood128 (talk) 00:00, 25 February 2023 (UTC)
- Is "area" really an official term? I also now see that all London's districts, but the City of London are actually boroughs.Rwood128 (talk) 00:49, 25 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Rwood128: thanks for the message. To be honest I'm not sure there is a consistently-used term in reliable sources, which is probably also connected to the fact that these "areas" (or whatever other term you wish to use) are not really well-defined entities with consistent borders. And in the majority of cases, sources don't actually need to define what it is in the first place, they just use the name directly, e.g. "trapped inside Lakanal House in Camberwell, south London, on 3 July 2009". So using the term "area" probably isn't actually recommended by the London assembly or anyone else, but it certainly does exist in sources, for example: "Brunswick Park in the Camberwell area of London", "evening of November 28 in the Camberwell area of London". There are occasional references to it as a "district", for example [1], but personally I think "area" is a clearer term because it avoids any possible confusion with the Districts of England, for people outside London who aren't familiar with the fact that districts there are called boroughs. Note that this question was also discussed some time ago at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2012 September 27#Category:Districts of London, and reached the conclusion that "area" was the preferable term to use, across London. Quite a few articles still say "district" but I'd like to make them more consistent in using "area" throughout, if possible. Hope that makes some sense. Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 15:11, 25 February 2023 (UTC)
Amakuru, this review is now 190 days old, and the issues raised in the review haven't been addressed despite months having passed. I think it's time to close; it can always be renominated once the issues have been taken care of, and if you want, you can pick it up for review again. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:44, 25 February 2023 (UTC)
- Amakuru, as Wizardman has pointed out on the review page, TRM has effectively recused himself from further editing at Wikipedia. It's time to close this. If you don't have time to take care of this, I'm happy to do so, and will if I don't hear anything from you by Friday. Hope all is well. BlueMoonset (talk) 02:32, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
