Quintus Pedius wanted to avenge the murder on Julius Caesar. Together with Octavian they marched on Rome and became consuls in august 43 BC. Octavian formed the Second Triumvirate in november 43 BC with Mark Antony and Marcus Aemilius Lepidus. The Triumvirate wanted a bloodbath in Rome to kill all conspirators against Caesar. Pedius tried to reduce the number of death penalties and died of stress. The proconsul of Gallia Comata (Northern Gaul, including the Rhine delta), Lucius Munatius Plancus remained neutral.
