Wikipedia Ideology[edit]

Ideology On Vandalism[edit]
Described in one word: stupid.
Why vandalize? What's the point? You already know your IP address is recorded here, and WHOIS "knows where you live". Do you want everyone to know that 123.45.67.890 from Citizensville, England (fake IP address, BTW; don't even think one with that combination is possible) is a real idiot? Get you a billboard and write what you want, not here. (Besides, they get blocked anyway; I don't see the fun in that)
Notable Quotes[edit]
The quotes are arranged in alphabetical order, by the quoter's surname. Anonymous quotes are listed at the bottom of this section.
- "It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change." - Charles Darwin
- "If you lose hope, somehow you lose the vitality that keeps life moving, you lose that courage to be, that quality that helps you go on in spite of it all. And so today I still have a dream." - Martin Luther King, Jr.
- "And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." - Abraham Lincoln
- "The dictionary is the only place that success comes before work. Hard work is the price we must pay for success. I think you can accomplish anything if you're willing to pay the price". - Vince Lombardi
- "From woman, man is born; within woman, man is conceived; to woman he is engaged and married. Woman becomes his friend; through woman, the future generations come. When his woman dies, he seeks another woman; to woman he is bound. So why call her bad? From her, kings are born. From woman, woman is born; without woman, there would be no one at all." - Guru Nanak
- "Without music life would be a mistake." - Friedrich Nietzsche
- "Imagine a world in which every single person on the planet is given free access to the sum of all human knowledge. That's what we're doing." - Jimmy Wales
- "No person is your friend who demands your silence, or denies your right to grow." - Alice Walker
- "If you ask a stupid question, you will get a stupid answer." - Anon
- "To someone you may be the world, but to the world you may be someone." - Anon
- "The Government is like the Leaning Tower of Pisa: it leans but does not fall." - can't remember the quoter's name...
Today's featured article[edit]
The Beulé Gate is a fortified gate leading to the Propylaia of the Acropolis of Athens, Greece. It was constructed largely of repurposed material taken from the 4th-century BCE Choragic Monument of Nikias and integrated into the Post-Herulian Wall, a late Roman fortification built around the Acropolis in the years following the city's sack by the Germanic Heruli people in 267 or early 268 CE. Its construction marked the beginning of a new phase in the Acropolis's use, in which it came to be seen more as a defensive position than a religious sanctuary. During the medieval period, the gate was further fortified, before being built over with a bastion in Ottoman times. The monument was discovered by the French archaeologist Charles Ernest Beulé on 29 May 1852, and excavated in 1852 and 1853. Archaeologists and Greek commentators criticised the aggressive excavation – particularly the use of explosives. In modern times, the gate has served primarily as an exit for tourists from the Acropolis. (Full article...)

Tip of the day[edit]
Tip of the day...
Placing external links sections
An External links section, if any, should always be placed at the end of the article. It should always be spelled that way, never "External Links" or "external links". The term should be used even if there is only one external link. – – Read more:
