Chinese spirit-basket divination, which dates to the fifth century, would have been lost to the world had it not been reincarnated as Indonesian jailangkung. The term is the homophonic rendition of the Chinese cai lan gong [菜篮公, vegetable basket deity] and unambiguously links the Indonesian practice with the Chinese.

- Comment: I have supplemented the article with File:Boneka Jailangkung, Museum Kesehatan Surabaya.jpg and File:Boneka Jailangkung.jpg. They could potentially be used to illustrate the hook, but the Commons Volunteer Response Team is still in the process of verifying the permissions license.

New enough, long enough, QPQ done. Spotchecks passed, including hook. I have duplicated the source along the relevant sentences, noting the hook pulls from different sentences. I was most interested that the practice has died out in China itself and only remains in this form, however the current hook works for me. If the nominator or another user wishes to propose new hooks I am happy to evaluate, but absent that this is a pass. CMD (talk) 11:51, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
