Miscellaneous would-be clarifications[edit]

The new-orthodox way of writing the man's name is 张晓, but he seems to prefer the traditional 張曉. In Japanese contexts this may appear as 張暁.

Coastline appears as both 海岸綫 and 海岸线 in the 2014 Chinese book, but (even as a title for the Chinese-language text) as 海岸線 in the 2014 Japanese booklet.

Jia Za Zhi Press (the way it's written in They) is the same company as Jiazazhi Press (the way it's written in Coastline).

The "Shanxi" of the title refers to 陕西 (a province that en:WP calls Shaanxi, two "a"s), and not 山西 (an adjoining province that en:WP calls Shanxi). See for example this jpeg from Pékin Fine Arts, identifying "Shanxi" and 陕西. Chinese-language-only sources specifying 陕西 include this gallery at photofans.cn and this exhibition notice. Zhang's website and the Little Big Man book consistently spell 陕西 "Shanxi" (which happens to be standard Pinyin); Wikipedia spells it "Shaanxi" (which is a conventional tweak to the standard Pinyin). Therefore I suggest "Shanxi" for the photo series and book title.

If an edition is of X hundred copies, then this is what I write (with no great enthusiasm). I ignore any claim that an edition is "limited". The publisher may or may not promise not to have a second edition (or second printing), but this is just a device to increase demand, in my opinion. -- Hoary (talk) 13:24, 11 October 2014 (UTC) ... augmented 11:14, 12 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
