Wondering why this article is trending.[edit]

Just seems odd as nothing seems noteworthy at current. 204.62.51.221 (talk) 22:11, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Probably because it was recently created from a redirect, so the views have jumped a lot in the past few days. Where was it trending? The Midnite Wolf (talk) 02:41, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  1. 5 Top Read article on English Wikipedia yesterday. Aug | Augiegeier11 (talk) 11:28, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    @Augiegeier11
    It's November 29th, 2023 and I was wondering the same thing because it has been in the top 5 most read articles every day that I've checked the Mobile app homepage for the last week or two. I'm guessing it might be a troll attempt to make a sexually explicit website appear on the front page of Wikipedia, perhaps with the intended purpose to be for the curious to Google "XNXX" since the adult nature of the site might not be obvious to some. Another thought is that people may be searching a search engine for "XNXX" and be subject to search engine filters and/or an Internet firewall that blocks access to the site itself, so Wikipedia's article is likely the first "SFW" search result. XNXX[edit]

This article does not qualifies as a truly Trending Article. It is a Stub. Talk entries are few and far between. It is basically a freebie advertising venue for the website. Wikipedia is a well-run very informative website with majority of articles and content of encyclopedic value. It is not an advertising site. I support removing this article, at least from the Trending format. DonnaW2007 (talk) 10:57, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Trending articles are based on how many people are reading them, not the quality of the article.
If you'd like to see the article removed, you can nominate it at Articles for Deletion. I doubt the nomination will succeed, though; while it's short, it is a well-sourced and relatively well-written article about a clearly notable topic. AntiDionysius (talk) 11:01, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
