When was Lyne knighted?[edit]

I suspect it was after 1901, which means he was plain Mr Lyne when he was offered the job of PM. JackofOz 03:28, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

All three references indicate he was knighted in (June) 1900.--Grahamec 10:47, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright issues[edit]

This text has obviously been copied from somewhere, and is grossly biased. Intelligent Mr Toad 09:30, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The text is largely based on Serle ([http://gutenberg.net.au/dictbiog/0-dict-biogL.html#lyne1, out of copyright) as indicated by the references and, yes, Serle tended to be opinionated.--Grahamec 10:47, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copying Serle's text is a breach of copyright and copying his opinions is unencylopaedic. Unless this is fixed very soon I will delete the copied text. Intelligent Mr Toad 15:07, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Serle's text is out of copyright and inthe public domain. I do not disagree that palagiarism is unattractive but ... --Golden Wattle talk 22:30, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you delete text without improving it, I will revert your deletes.--Grahamec 13:58, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How can it be out of copyright? Serle only died in 1998. Intelligent Mr Toad 10:53, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

See the article on the Dictionary of Australian Biography - note it is republished by Project Gutenberg Australia - they only publish what is in the public domain. It was first published in 1949.--Golden Wattle talk 11:12, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Serle died in 1951 - see http://gutenberg.net.au/dictbiog/00-dict-biogIndex.html#serle --Golden Wattle talk 08:55, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I have my Serles mixed up. Percival died in 1951, Geoffrey died in 1998. OK. Intelligent Mr Toad 13:20, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
