Durant Photo[edit]

There seems to be some issue about the copyright status of the Durant photo (the one in the hat) on this page. A version of it was deleted & then another was added, but it doesn't have all the copyright info. Just in case I found another Durant photo to use if needed, WilliamCDurant.jpg. However, I hope we don't have to use it as I like the hat photo better. HornColumbia talk 04:28, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pacifism / Liberty Aircraft Engines[edit]

An article on thetruthaboutcars.com and Leland's wiki page claim that Henry Leland left Cadillac/GM because Durant did not want to manufacture engines for the war effort due to his being a pacifist. Subject's pension[edit]

From the article: "After the fall of Durant Motors, Durant and his second wife, Catherine Lederer Durant, lived on a small pension provided by R. S. McLaughlin, Mr. Marr and Dupont as arranged by Alfred P. Sloan at $10,000.00 a year on behalf of General Motors."

According to the online CPI Inflation calcualtor, this "small pension" in 1937 was worth close to $173K annually in 2018. Can we therefore assume that the subject was not impoverished and probably managed the bowling alley in order to keep active? This is speculation, of course, but would anyone mind if I inserted into the article parenthetically: "worth about $173,000 in 2018's money" (based upon 1937, the year after Durant Motors and Durant went bankrupt per the article's notation of when the pension was awarded) in order to add perspective?

Frederic L. Smith[edit]

After researching the formation of General Motors, I cannot find any reference to Frederic L. Smith helping with the formation of the company. It is true that Fred Smith along with his father, S.L. Smith, agreed to merge with Buick, there is no confirmation that any other activities occurred between the men that would provide credit for the formation. I would like to propose that the reference be removed. Please feel free to comment.
