Edit Request on 14th December 2012

Wayne Rooney has scored 10 goals in 18 Manchester Derbies as of 9th December 2012. This is the most of any United player ever. Please mention that. The same match also saw him as the 6th man to reach the milestone of 150 Premier league goals. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2012/12/11/3593981/rooney-proud-to-overtake-sir-bobby-charltons-manchester?source=breakingnews

Also, on 14th December, an official Barclays Global Fan Survey saw him voted as the most popular current player of the Premier League. This should be mentioned in his indiviual awards. http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/news/news/wayne-rooney-voted-number-one-in-fans-survey.html

Highest scorer of the Ferguson era

I think it is definitely worth mentioning that no one has scored more goals for Manchester Utd under Sir Alex Ferguson than Wayne Rooney. Also the picture is still hopelessly out of date and needs up-dating. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.29.28.91 (talk) 12:46, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

Edit request on 2 March 2013

I think Rooney's assists should be added as he hasn't played as the main striker since the 09/10 season and even before that season he played deeper when Ronaldo was at United. He also has approx. 14 goals and 12 assists this season which reflects on his role as a number 10.

He is also the 9th highest assist maker in premier league history with 128 assists. I believe his assist stats deserve to be shown.

EDIT: here is the link to the all time assist stat http://www.premiersoccerstats.com/Records.cfm?DOrderby=Ass&DYearby=All%20Seasons

here is the link for his assists season by season http://espnfc.com/players/format/design09/playerStats?playerId=21046&positionId=18&league=eng.1&lang=EN&xhr=0

the 'a' column shows the amount of assists, although it does not cover his assists in entirety

Edit request on 4 March 2013

Rooney's premier league goals have been updated for this week but not the overall tally. He has 14 goals in all competitions this season, not 13. 11 in the premier league, 2 in the FA Cup and 1 in the Champions League. This means he has 195 in total for United and 212 career goals. For some reason someone only added to the premier league goal tally but not overall. Source would be the same ESPN which has been used. I have also gave two sources for my previous edit request above. You even have the 2 cup goals and 1 CL goal listed but have not added up the total properly.

Sourcing

PeeJay2K3, you seem rather intent on adding this reference from The News of the World. Despite the fact that it isn't necessary as there's already a cite for the information. And the fact that The News of the World is about as crap as it gets and in no way a WP:RS.

WP:BLP states: Material should not be added to an article when the only sourcing is tabloid journalism. When material is both verifiable and noteworthy, it will have appeared in more reliable sources. -- Hillbillyholiday talk 13:01, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

Edit Request:

Rooney has 144 premier league goals for United and 15 for Everton which is correct. However, you listed his premier league goals as 158. 144 + 15 = 159. Only the number 158 needs to be changed to 159, everything else seems correct. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.102.200.3 (talk) 04:27, 15 September 2013 (UTC)

"In September 2013, Rooney scored his 200th goal."

Wayne Rooneys: a line to be edited

"Rooney is reportedly the third highest-paid footballer in the world after Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, with an annual income of €20.7 million (£18 million) including sponsorship deals.", this text has to be edited or removed because the third highest paid soccer player annually is Lionel Messi and the first is David Beckham as per forbes list of http://www.forbes.com/athletes/list/>The Highest Paid Athletes</a>. You know Beckham has retired now, right? – PeeJay 10:13, 6 October 2013 (UTC)
Not done: but I've done something else. The point is, stating these things without a date is dodgy, because they change so rapidly. Please see Wikipedia:Recentism. When you give this kind of information, it's best to include a phrase such as "as of <date> ..." to avoid this kind of difficulty. I've done that using the current source. If you want to update to Mahanthathreyee's source, that's fine -- its date was June 2013. But as PeeJay2K3 says, Beckham has retired, so you never know when the next change is coming along. Profile Picture

Shouldn't we get a picture of him in an Everton shirt now that he has signed for the club? Davefelmer (talk) 18:09, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

What's the rush? He's only just signed, so where do you think we're going to get a recent picture of him in an Everton shirt? Last time he played for them was 13 years ago! – PeeJay 18:13, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
On Everton's twitter account they have some pictures of him standing in the shirt. Maybe those could be used? I know there is no rush, but it seems a bit silly keeping the pic of him in a United shirt until he plays for Everton which could not be for several more weeks. Davefelmer (talk) 19:09, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
@Davefelmer: Every photo you see of Rooney in an Everton shirt at this stage is copyright, so they can't be used. You will have to wait for a non-copyrighted image to become available before any changes are made to the article and that could be months. JMHamo (talk) 19:14, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

Edit Request

Found this in the Family section: "Invited in the wedding to sing for the couple is Coleen's favorite pop band Westlife". Please can it be "Invited to the wedding to sing for the couple was Coleen's favourite pop band Westlife"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.163.94.92 (talk) 21:24, 1 May 2018 (UTC)

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Danski454 (talk) 21:08, 1 August 2018 (UTC)

Career Statistics

As he played for Everton during two periods, shouldn't his total appearances and goals be split not displayed as one total? Mn1548 (talk) 18:24, 5 November 2018 (UTC)

Agreed. Mattythewhite (talk) 00:15, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

There is a common misconception that Rooney has scored 53 international goals. This is incorrect. During the 2004 game against Switzerland, Rooney was initially awarded 2 goals; the second of these was then later taken away from him due to Rooney's shot first hitting the post, then bouncing off the back of the keeper Stiel before crossing the goal-line. This meant that the goal was, in fact, an own goal, as it would not have been scored if it had not hit Stiel, due to it being off target.

This has been edited on his separate goal-scoring page, but can't be edited here due to it being semi-protected.

It has been reverted on the other page. If you have reliable sources to back up your claim, then it may be possible to adjust the article(s). Until then, it remains as it stands inline with current citations. The Rambling Man (talk) 10:06, 7 November 2018 (UTC)
UEFA awarded the goal to Rooney (see here) and that has never been changed. No other organisation has the authority to reassign the goalscorer, so I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that Rooney should have a goal deducted. – PeeJay 10:55, 7 November 2018 (UTC)

With 53 goals in 119 international caps...change 119 to 120 96.255.225.143 (talk) 22:54, 16 November 2018 (UTC)

Done. Mattythewhite (talk) 23:06, 16 November 2018 (UTC)

Currently it lists that Rooney has 21 league appearances for DC United. This is incorrect as playoff games don't count as league games. The playoff game should go under league cup in the career statistics table. Soccerway is incorrect for this. For evidence of this, the mls website says Rooney has 20 appearances. (see Rooney's profile) For more evidence, here is the MLS website profile of David Villa. They separate regular season and playoff stats (see Villa's profile) HTownDynamo (talk) 05:14, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

I'm more inclined to put it under "Other", as we do with English Football League play-offs matches. – PeeJay 09:45, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
Thanks. However the appearances in the bio box is still 21. Also, should there be a note for the other category to indicate which competition the appearances are for? (see David Beckham) HTownDynamo (talk) 21:17, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
