Criticism/censorship[edit]

At least my edit made it up to date, which is more than can be said for your edit, which is still listing 2004-5's useless fool team. You should get and do your research. Also, why did you feel the need to censor Adam Brace's comment about the Union? Which was not criticism but a statement of fact.

Your edit did not make it up to date, it merely changed a few and introduced pointless stuff into the list. I have now brought the list in line with those listed on the website. The comments I have deleted are those that are unencyclopaedic. Timrollpickering 11:21, 16 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

  • While working on the help desk, I was advised of vandalism to the page by an anonymous user. I have removed the most obvious examples but would be grateful if someone could have a look at it. Capitalistroadster 06:23, 20 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Students' Union / Association sabs list deletion[edit]

Can anyone clarify what's going on here? After an appeal on Facebook, a number of us helped put together a detailed list of former officer of UKSU, but it keeps getting deleted. Correct inaccuracies, by all means, but why delete useful content that people worked hard to add?Tomroper (talk) 06:47, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Left-wing past?[edit]

Is there any actual evidence for this? Graham Martin's history of the first twenty-five years of the University mentions some student protests but by and large they seem straightforwardly about local conditions and restrictions (and some of the early rules for students seem more at home in a restrictive boarding school than a university) and what many would consider unfair in any era (unreasonable charges; an attempted expulsion despite not giving the early warnings that the system of fairness is based on). Indeed some of the agitation seems very fair removed from the stereotypical left-wing student politics of the 1960s and 1970s - kicking up a fuss because the coat of arms took a few years to be finalised isn't exactly the stuff of socialist revolution. And the protests against the university administering accomodation for those living out - i.e. students would pay the university who in turn found and rented rooms from local landlords - strike me as a case of students campaigning for privatisation! Have a look at a scan of the the Guardian Front page here - [1] I'm not sure of the copyright issues. If anyone wants to follow this up there will be local newspaper articles for dates covering that term. In the weeks before the occupation referred to in that issue of the Guardian there was a packed meeting on the Conservative Association to which Edward Heath had been invited (Rutherford if I remember correclty). The event was disrupted by protestors of various kinds and ended chaotically. Hippy-style clothing, chanting and dancing were some features of the disruption. Live Music[edit]

There's a place for this section, though it'll be almost impossible to cite sources. Perhaps this information should be moved into a section called 'trivia'.

A hint of earlier, and greater things can be seen here[2] An article about Max Hole is here [3]. "The most famous of which was probably" - I can see where this is going, but there's no room for "probably" in an encyclopedia. This paragraph needs a minor grammar check and a slight reworking, I think. Might be as simple as replacing the opening above with ", including one notable example...".
