Staplehurst: village or town?[edit]

This settlement has been changed from village to town to village to town. Anyone with reliable sourcing might like to chip in there. PamD 09:11, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not familiar with this location. I have just searched on Google to see if what I can find how others refer to the place. I was surprised and annoyed, although I guess I shouldn't be, how many sites I found mentioning Staplehurst without calling it a village or town or anything. I found a news site Kent Online about a story were armed police were called to the "village" [1]. Staplehurst Parish Council site mentions Village Centre, village updates, and village events, and does not use the word town anywhere [2]. Staplehurst Community Centre refers to "Village Centre" but not town. [3]. These are not hard and official sources, but it suggests the local people or organisations and the news refer to it as a village in common usage. I didn't look at every match by any means, but it seemed pages either referred to it as a village, a parish, or not as anything, but I couldn't find much that refers to it as a town. Oddly, all the changing of the text in the article to town, it appears the category has been forgotten, as it's been left in the villages of Kent category, not changed to towns of Kent.  Carlwev  10:39, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
