New Details On Injuries and a link to the victims

I just put in that only 1 of the injuries was from gunfire and linked it. Multiple articles say that the shooter shot 13, with 12 of them dying as a result. I then put a link to the victims in the external links section. Removal of my edit

My recent edit was removed and I personally don't think it should be. It's common for articles about mass shootings to include descriptions of what the perpetrator was like at a younger age. (See Sutherland Springs church shooting and 2019 Dayton shooting). I believe the information I added was relevant to the shooting too, because it relates to his anger issues and violent tendencies. This discussion was started here. His rantings don't seem to add any encyclopedic information to the article. The coach's remembrances may be interesting journalism but does not add anything to article that is worthy of the encyclopedia. The fact that of posting to social media is sufficient. It is reliably sourced that he posted on Instagram during the shooting "It's too bad I won't get to see all the illogical and pathetic reasons people will put in my mouth as to why I did it. Fact is I had no reason to do it, and I just thought... fuck it, life is boring so why not?"[1] This does give some insight into his state of mind and motive (or the lack of one). This is ok and could be included. As for the rest of the material in this edit, I think it is too speculative.--♦IanMacM♦ ^{(talk to me)} 07:56, 20 January 2020 (UTC)

I still disagree. It's common for articles about mass murderers to include descriptions from people who knew them. I think in this case it would be especially important as it gives some insight into what the shooter was like as a person. There's very little going as of motivation, so some accounts of previous anger issues would be relevant here. Vulpes zerda fox (talk) 08:27, 24 January 2020 (UTC)

How does that improve the article? Obviously, if not motive is reported, then it is unknown. Adding that word does not improve the article. WWGB (talk) 03:53, 12 October 2023 (UTC)

The closest that we are going to get to a motive are the comments he posted on Instagram during the shooting. "It's too bad I won't get to see all the illogical and pathetic reasons people will put in my mouth as to why I did it," the military veteran said in the post. "Fact is I had no reason to do it, and I just thought....(exploitive), life is boring so why not?"[2] This was in the article at one stage, but has been removed.
