COI discussion[edit]

Regarding the content on the Culture Shed page: the information provided is not promotional and takes a neutral point of view. The page's tone and content was reviewed by Malik Shabazz who had deleted the page but after editing was done he allowed it to be reinstated. 2X4 has been up front about its connection and relationship to Culture Shed. You can see their note on the talk page from January by using this address: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Culture_Shed We have done our best to follow Wiki's best practices for editors and close associations. Do you have any cleanup that you can suggest that would help the page to better comply with Wiki's content policies? Thanks so much Mimi Taft (talk) 19:21, 4 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Mimi Taft:: I have removed the COI tag, following a relatively major expansion of the article that I performed. If you are affiliated with this project, you may want to read WP:COI and request edits here, using {{Requested edit}}, instead of editing the article directly. Maybe Malik Shabazz (talk · contribs) may have some suggestions—for some reason, my much shorter version of the article was not tagged for deletion by Malik (or any other admin for that matter), but the 2x4 version was. Epicgenius (talk) 00:38, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 4 October 2019[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: Moved to "The Shed (arts center)" as per WP:PRECISE. (non-admin closure) Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:39, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Shed (Hudson Yards)The Shed (arts center) – The current parenthetical of Hudson Yards could be misinterpreted to mean that The Shed, an independent nonprofit organization located on city-owned land, is part of the private commercial real estate development called Hudson Yards, not just that it is located in the Hudson Yards area. As the main reason for the parenthetical is to disambiguate this Shed from other Sheds, it would align better with other parentheticals for Shed, such as magazine, album, and musician, to identify The Shed by its purpose rather than its location. Given negative publicity about the Hudson Yards real estate development, it could be argued that it is harmful to The Shed's reputation and its independent status to have its page title so closely connected to the commercial entity of Hudson Yards. • Move to The Shed per WP:OVERPRECISION. This article is getting over 200 hits per day and there's no other article on WP using the precise title. Station1 (talk) 05:35, 4 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Move to The Shed (arts center) I would disagree with Station1 on just calling it "The Shed". Articles such as The Shed at Dulwich may be confused with it. Also, common names can be referred to as "The Shed". AmericanAir88(talk) 16:57, 4 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I thought about The Shed at Dulwich, but that apparently is always called by its full name and would never be titled simply "The Shed". It does get substantial views, though, so it could be directly mentioned in a hatnote along with the dab page for "shed". Station1 (talk) 23:41, 4 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
On a side note, I'm not seeing where there's been "negative publicity" about the Hudson Yards development. I agree that disambiguating by function rather than by geography is better, but "reputation" is not one of the reasons why we move articles. epicgenius (talk) 12:41, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Seeking help fixing an issue[edit]

I am the new CTO at The Shed. When I use the duckduckgo search engine to search for "the shed nyc", duckduckgo's results include a block which presenting content from this article and a link to 'nycultureshed.org' which is NOT actually our domain. In fact, as far as I can tell, it's not currently registered or in use. I cannot find the link in this article. Is there anyone here who knows how to change nycultureshed.org to theshed.org in the duckduckgo search results? Thanks in advance for any guidance/pointers. karmester 19:18, 23 August 2023 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Karmester (talkcontribs)

It looks like this is an issue with duckduckgo and not WP. Notice that website doesn't show up in a Google or Bing search. The only thing I can think of is to hit the "Share Feedback" button and then "Other" on duckduckgo and leave a comment there. Maybe someone else knows more.
