Building consensus on Hill's listed position and stats for infobox[edit]

Taysom Hill is the single-handedly greatest multi positioned player in the NFL. Given Hill's unique status as a QB, Returner, and Gunner I understand why there have been several changes to his page regarding what positions are listed in his infobox. I have seen Quarterback, Quarterback & Special Teamer, Quarterback & Kick Returner, and simply "Athlete". I think that it is important that consensus is reached on which position(s) should be listed to avoid constant changes. Additionally, I believe consensus should also be reached on which statistics should be listed. While the current listing of Rushing yards, rushing average, return yards, and total tackles fits his current role they may not be as relevant if he ever gets any significant play at quarterback. We should list what official sources say and that is quarterback. Any other listing can be considered as WP:OR. – Sabbatino (talk) 13:54, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, we should stick to his actual listed position. The fact that he plays other positions can be noted in the page itself.GPL93 (talk) 13:59, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, NFL.com and Saints depth chart list him as a quarterback. [1][2]. Shouldn't even be an issue. Maybe add a hidden comment and/or source after his position to help prevent people from changing it. Note that "gunner" or "special teamer" aren't real football positions, just designations to provide clarity. Regarding stats, the ones listed are fine for now. Let's address that issue if it ever comes up (i.e. more QB play). « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 16:03, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I added a hidden comment. Hopefully that works. GPL93 (talk) 17:37, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I revised it a bit diff. Cheers, « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 21:18, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It should list him as quarterback until NFL.com or PFR says otherwise. Lizard (talk) 23:56, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
However it wouldn't hurt to specify in the lead that he plays sort of a utility role for the Saints. Lizard (talk) 17:01, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Circling back on this. There are now too many stat values to be included in the Infobox. I recommend removing carries and total tackles from the infobox and replacing it with his total return yards.Best, GPL93 (talk) 16:41, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

He lines up at Tight End quite a bit. I would also add Full Back. There is nothing wrong with naming all the positions he regularly plays. I wish whomever has locked this page would just add these two as well. There is NO reason to stick with his official team status whatsoever. He's a special player who lines up at an amazing array of different positions and he should be granted that on his Wikipedia page. Those are my thoughts. Tight end[edit]

a statement was released by the saints head coach about Taysom Hill focusing on tight end from this point forward. I see that you used the saints depth chart as an argument for why it should be left as qb, but the saints official depth chart has not been updated since the end of the 2021-2022 season and does not take offseason into account. As for NFL.com’s description on Hills position, NFL.com is not always the most reliable in terms of accuracy with these things believe it or not. We have head from the most official source, that being saints head coach, that Hill will be focussing on tight end, so for as of right now that is what he should be listed as. If you make a change to the article, you need to add an inline citation to a reliable source. It may be true, but unless it is cited, it shouldn't be added or changed. Please fix this. --Jayron32 12:46, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
What's to fix? The position is listed correctly. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:52, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Hey man im josh: It needs to be cited to a reliable source. When one makes a change or addition to an article, it is expected that one uses a footnote to produce a citation to the source material where the information came from. --Jayron32 14:12, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ohhh, that. I guess I thought you were referring to something else. On second read through, it's not clear exactly what I didn't get, but never the less, I did add a source on the page for his position. The source references the press conference that Bears247 mentioned where the head coach of the New Orleans Saints announces his intention to use Hill as a tight end. Seven positions.[edit]

Can we list the seven positions he's played in some consolidated form in the article body? I've tried to count them from the text, and I think I got six one time, and eight the other. The source given is geolocked, so I can't even tell if they're listed there. 109.255.211.6 (talk) 18:14, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
