Sam Poo Kong is the oldest Chinese temple in Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia. The complex was first used by the Chinese Muslim explorer Zheng He. Though Zheng's temple collapsed in a 1704 landslide, a new one was built in its place. This temple has seen several restorations, most recently from 2002 to 2005. Sam Poo Kong is now shared by Indonesians of multiple religious denominations, including Muslims and Buddhists, and ethnicities.

Would be nice to have a historic picture of this temple[edit]
It would be nice to have a historic picture (early 20th century? or perhaps the 19th century?) of this surprisingly very old temple.--Rochelimit (talk) 16:50, 30 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Rochelimit, I'll see if I can get any books on Semarang which are old enough for the images to be PD. I have several modern tourist books (including those focusing on Sam Poo Kong), but without proof of earlier publication, we can't be sure that the historic images are PD – Indonesia uses first publication to calculate the PD status of photographs. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 04:24, 31 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
