Holbrooke started rumor that 911 terrorists came from Canada[edit]

Loonymonkey deleted: (General note: Addition of unsourced or improperly cited material on Richard Holbrooke. (TW))

Canadian General Lewis McKenzie (Retired) stated to the Canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail: "We were on Ted Koppel’s Nightline. Holbrooke said 'General McKenzie, it is my understanding that all the terrorists who flew planes into the Twin Towers came on a ferry from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia to Bar Harbor Maine'...I was absolutely livid. That was the start of the myth of how the 9/11 terrorists came through Canada and executed their attack."[1]

OK, so he was livid. But was Holbrooke correct? Seems like McKenzie was looking for a reason to be offended. Weather or not the criminals traveled illegally through Canada is certainly no slander against Canada, nor any of the dozen or so countries the criminals illegally traversed en-route. I see the terms ' ... started the myth' and '...started the rumour'. Such are slanted and rhetorical phrases, where one might have said '... cited the possibility' or even '... cited the probability'. Were it the case that Canada was indeed used for ingress, it seems to me that one would be more appalled at the notion of Canada being used, rather than being appalled at someone citing the possibility that Canada was used.swampfoot (talk) 05:42, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Rating to 'B' class[edit]

None of the project boxes has a B-class checklist, so I'll list the five-point version here as my rationale for up-rating the article.

  2. Coverage and accuracy: the article covers the subject's career extensively and, while I am not an expert on the subject, features no glaring inaccuracies;
  3. Structure: the article is well-structured, with sub-headings used appropriately to lend further structure;
  4. Grammar and style: a read-through reveals no obvious errors in grammar or style;
  5. Supporting materials: the article features several pictures and an infobox.
